Wow....I wish I could say that. I am doing good to get enough clear fluids. I still have gas trapped in my left shoulder and can't even eat a whole SF popsicle. Not really hungry yet, but things do look and smell good. I guess right now Im too scared to try anything with substance. Kathy

Hello all, I was banded on the 28th at 7:30am and was home by lunch time. Slept mostly the whole day that day. Didn't sleep much that night because I was uncomfortable...not from pain so much but because I'm a side sleeper and thats just not an option right now. Last night I tried to sleep in my bed and didn't sleep at all. Came back downstairs this morning and slept almost 4 hours in my chair. I'm not really in pain but very sore kinda like someone kicked me in the stomach. Having a hard time getting my liquid in...I don't want to make myself sick. I don't think I could handle throwing up right now, so I'm doing everything possible not to let that happen. I'm ready to start feeling better now!! Hopefully it wont be much longer. Kathy

I am having my surgery Wednesday also...possibly the same place as you. I am in Houston also. I will be at Physicians Surgicare Center downtown. I am a little nervous also, but I try not to think about it. I try to think beyond the actual surgery and the benefits it will give me. This is my first surgery and although Im nervous, I would never back out of it. I haven't come this far for nothing!!! Relax and know it will be over before you know it. Kathy

Betsyjane, I was approved by Cigna after I turned in my 6 mos supervised diet. I ended up gaining 1 lb. I lost 7 or 8 here and there and then ended up gaining it all back at the end of the 6 months. My surgeon turned in my paperwork and 1 day later I was approved. Of course all insurance companies are different. Kathy :banana

Irish, My surgery date is the 28th too!!!!! Good luck to you!

Zannie, My date is the 28th and I am terrified also. I have never been "put under" and have only been in the hospital 2 times (birth of kids) They were both uncomplicated and I only stayed in the hospital 2 days the first time and 1 day the second. I have to keep myself busy so I dont think too much about it. Good luck on your day!!! Kathy

Did your insurance specify if the attempt had to be within the last year or not? My insurance stated that my six month documentation had to be within the past 12 months. I really had given up on all the fad diets a few years ago and hadn't really tried anything. I had to do the six month diet. However, I did have over 10 years of documentation of WW, Jenny Craig, Phen/Fen, YMCA, etc. None of that helped me with the six month criteria since it wasn't within the last 12 months. I would have them clarify that for you. Kathy

Wow!!! Sounds like fun!! Wish I was in the Dallas area. Actually I spend 6 days a week in a skating rink. My daughter is a competitive roller skater. In fact, she will have her Regional competition in the Dallas area in June of this year. I skated competitively as a teen also, but havent really skated since I put on so much weight. I will for sure get back into it soon though. Im sick of being a bystander. Maybe I can join you guys some day soon.

Dr Matthew J St Laurent, Houston, and Lap Band Solutions
kathyy68 replied to lizrbit's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am also one of his patients. Saw him the first time back in May of last year. Right now I am waiting on insurance approval. Been through the 6 mos supervised diet, psych eval, saw nutritionist and had physical. He is awesome and Lap Band Solutions is great too. I call them all the time to check on paperwork and they never seem like they are bothered that I call. Nothing but good things to say about both. -
JCG3800, Can you tell me what the critieria is for the six month supervision? I have Cigna International, and I dont have any info on their criteria. I have just finished my six month with my PCP and want to make sure I am good to go.

I also have Cigna and I am in my last month of my 6 mos diet. Just make sure you actually go 6 months and not to just 6 Dr. visits. Six Dr. visits is only 5 months technically. I have completed my psych exam, nutrition counseling, and physical exam. All I have left is one more appt. and we can re-submit my info. YIPEE!!! Im hoping for a January date.

Ok, I have a question regarding the 6 months diet program that Cigna is requiring me to do. I started the supervised diet June 20. Monday will be my 6th appointment, but when you technically count it up, I have only been 5 months. June to July, July to Aug, Aug to Sept, Sept to Oct, Oct to Nov. But, I have had 6 appointments. Do insurance companies go by number of visits or actual months? I just dont want to screw this up cause I have already been denied once (for not having the 6 mos of supervised diets) This is really freaking me out since my 6th Dr. visit is Monday and I was hoping I was finished and could submit my paperwork. I have met all other conditions. Please help!!!! Kathy :help:

I am finishing my 6 months supervised diet this month. I was crushed when I found out I had to do it, but it has really gone by fast. I have really not lost much...maybe 10lbs thru the whole time. I really didnt put much effort into it....just tried to sail thru it to get it over with quickly. Im hoping that these past 6 months will pay off in the long run and get my approval. I cant imagine a denial now after going thru this since June. Good luck!!
