Recently I had my usual salad then started on a small piece of steak. I ate 3 small pieces and must not have chewed them enough. It took over 90 minutes of pain in my chest for the "issue" to resolve through the ever so much fun regurgitation process. Tried small sips of Crystal Lite which made it worse. I have no problem with crunchy stuff like salads, popcorn, chips or soft stuff like ice cream, pudding, mashed potatoes. Sometimes I just have the salad because eating meat is hard. I hardly ever have cooked vegs because I have the salad most nights. I had some Chinese beef with veggies in a restaurant and the meat was so tender and easy to eat. Wonder how it is made to get like that. I had my surgery in 7/10 and have lost 51 lbs. Want to lose about 30 more. Eileen Velez, Hyde Park, MA

I got my lap band on 7/7/10. Does anyone get that full feeling in your chest? The protein drinks are getting to be nasty.:grouphug: However, I have been jazzing them up with cinnamon, almond extract, and real blueberries. I also have very watery diarrhea, is this normal? Thanks, Eileen Velez

Hi everyone, I saw my surgeon and her PA today. The band is put in without saline in it acc to the PA. Have to go back in a few months for that. Incisions look good, steri strips are off now. My surgeon said to stop using the Whey protein powder and CIB in milk to see if I am lactose intolerant. So I have been using Glucerna and EAS. She did not want to put me on immodium just yet. Also MD said it could be a result from all the antibiotics given after surgery. I also take liquid Metformin (nasty tasting stuff) which gives you diarrhea anyway. I had chest pains on the way home tonight and realized it is hunger pangs which stopped after I had an EAS and a cup of Rachel Ray's chicken broth for "supper." It is so hard to sip slowly, I am using a very thin straw but still it is hard. Surgeon said not to worry re getting enough protein. I am managing around 50-60 grams a day so far. That coating on the tongue is normal too, I had to use my electric toothbrush to get it off. Thanks, Eileen

From the lap band already? I am seeing my surgeon tomorrow and will certainly discuss this with her. Eileen

I am very worried re the pre op diet because I get a lot of low blood sugars. I am worried about getting the diet done and doing it well! I was not expecting to have to do this diet either. My surgery is on 7/7/10. I have not gone to any of the support groups because this process has taken so long (over a year)it so totally slipped my mind! Yikes! Eileen:scared2:

I am not doing optifast, Carnation instant breakfast and protein drinks. One real meal a day. I just had a blood sugar of 46, very very scary. Never had one that low before. I ate a crap load of candy orange slices and some fruit. Just wanted to make it stop. I could not even walk or think straight. The dietician sent me a better meal plan which I just got via email. E -

Hi Shelley, I do have diabetes. What do you do if you get low blood sugars? I had one tonight T 70. I had a hard candy. Then I did my evening no sugar instant breakfast along with some sugar free jello. I feel ok now. However I was exhausted all day today. Is it ok to have black coffee? I am having the lap band on 7/7. Good Luck for you with your surgery! Eileen
