  1. Hey there!!! I am doing great, I am now 2+ weeks past surgery and I feel good, sometimes I even forget the band is there. Starting tomorrow I am back on a normal diet or what the new "normal" will be anyway . I had to go through the six month diet exercise thing with insurance and at first I was really mad about it because I was so ready to be banded that I didn't want to wait another six months but it helped me adapt a healthy lifestyle before surgery so that once the surgery happened it was an easy transition. I also for my insurance I had to lose 5% of my body weight before surgery that is what stressed me out the most, and this was again because insurance wants you to have a healthy lifestyle before surgery. All went well and insurance approved, it was a big pain in the neck but well worth not having to pay full price!! I know I have not been banded that long but it is TOTALLY worth it!!!
  2. Are you a police officer??
  3. Just had my post op visit today and got cleared to start eating soft solids......I have to say that I had the BEST TASTING eggs for lunch today. Then next Friday I am back to a normal diet (following all the rules of course). Looking forward to start getting fills but I was very excited to have lost 11 pounds since surgery day on 7/13. These boards have been pretty quiet lately everyone must be soaking up the air conditioning!! Stay Cool!!
  4. I am still not on anything that I can chew....I can't wait to chew.... I get my stitches out on Friday and after that I can have the soft solids (eggs, baked potato, etc) I can't wait. I have to say I am tired of sitting at the dinner table with nothing while the rest of the family eats...but this is only for a short while
  5. Hey there everyone!!! The thread has been quiet for a while I hope everyone is keeping nice and cool!!! Things are still going great here, starting to get a little hungry every now and then looking forward to eating some real food again or at least something with some flavor. How you are all doing well!!
  6. Thank you so much for sharing your story!! I was just banded on 7-13 and have had fertility issues all along, we were blessed to get pregnant three times with clomid but really feel in our hearts that we are not done yet. We have been trying for over two years again with fertility to have another baby with no luck. So I decided to focus on getting myself healthy, if God says our family is done we are okay with it, but really feel there is more in store for us.

    bandster hell!!!

I wondered the same thing and I think it is when you are healing and start getting hungery but don't have a whole lot of choices because of restricted diet, I am just guessing though
  9. Thank YOU for all the info, and please butt in, I love everyone's input!!!! I have a question, does your multi vitamin cover some of the other requirements? (vit b, vit d, and magnesium) I know i need to take extra calcium and omega 3. I am not much of a pill taker or vitamin taker so this is all new to me but I don't want to have to take a bunch if I can avoid it so I want to get the most "bang" for my buck as far as each pill I take. Ya know what I mean?? :tt2: Everyone have a great day!!! Oh and here is another stupid question..hehe, how do I add stuff to my signature line? I wanted to add the surgery date/weight/etc. Thanks
  10. Great info! I will make a trip to GNC this week, as far as the omega 3 with the small pills any "fishy" after effects??

    Any July Bandsters??

Hey there I was banded on July 13th so I am only 6 days post op. The day after surgery for me was terrible, I had horrible pain in my neck and shoulders and absolutely no energy until 4 days post op. The pain in my neck and shoulders was all gone by the next day (day 3 post op). The incisions hurt some the first couple of days I stayed on the pain meds as perscribed but after that I just did the pain meds at night, because I am a stomach sleeper and I didnt' want my body to flip over out of habit then *OUCH* :scared2:. Then I just take advil during the day as needed. Diet: I am discovering from reading on these boards that each doc is different in the diets so follow your doctor's advice. My doc has clear liquids until day 4 post op then you can have yogurt, oatmeal, anything that can go through a staw. (best yogurt I had in my life :tt2:) Good Luck you will do great!!! We were all scared/nervous/excited before surgery so that is totally normal. Just keep reading these boards and post questions I have found that most of the people on here are so helpful and remember we are all in the same boat in a sense. The end result is a healthy new you, and whatever that takes is totally worth it in the end!! Good Luck!!
  12. That gas pain was terrible, my worse day was day 2 post op, then the next morning it was barely noticable. Now it is totally gone. I am going to start walking next week, I have a treadmill so I think I am going to start that when it is too hot and just take it slow. When you showered were you worried about getting the steri-strips wet? Also what kinds of vitamins/supplements are you taking? I have some conflicting amounts from nutritionist/surgerycenter, I plan on asking for sure when i go in post op. Have a great day!
  13. Thank you so much for asking!! I am doing okay I feel better and better each day. I am now Day 5 post op so I could have yogurt and oatmeal . I have found that I am starting to get hungry which worries me a little I know it is a good thing, means that you are healing, I just don't want to overdue. I am sticking to the diet and go in for the postop next Friday. I hope to do a little walking around the neighborhood next week but golly it is so blasted hot here!! :scared2: I am glad to hear you are doing well, how soon after surgery did you have your first fill??

    Any July Bandsters??

I totally understand!! My doc said it was okay to have tea and coffee with cream in it by day 2 post op, and that coffee (no cream) and tea were okay on the clear liquid diet because it was basically flavored water and it wasn't going to hurt anything. That for me was a life saver because I LOVE Diet Coke but have not had one since last Sunday and have no intention of having one either. I know it is frusterating that all doctors say different things but maybe it would be worth a phone call to yours to see if you can get the okay. Good Luck :wink2:

    bandster hell!!!

I agree, I don't know why there are so many different methods. I found the same thing to be true for the preop diet. I would just follow YOUR doctor's advice since they are the one who knows your specific case. Good Luck!!!!

    Any July Bandsters??

That is so funny I did the exact same thing, I weighed myself when i got home I don't know what I was expecting I guess just curiousity and I was up 4 pounds which those are gone plus another 4 four days post op. But I completely agree with what someone else said it is SO EASY to get wrapped up in the scale!! So i am not going to weigh myself again until the post op visit (next Friday). Also the doc said not to focus so much on weight loss this initial 6 weeks it is about healing correctly so the band can do it's job long term :wink2:. Good Luck lets keep each other posted!!

    bandster hell!!!

Day two was the worst for me, I will not be surprised if you feel much better tomorrow!!

    bandster hell!!!

Hey there everyone I was just banded on July 13. So today is day 3 post op. Day two was aweful, lots of shoulder and neck pain. Today has been so much better. Although today I have started feeling a little bit hungry, Protein shake does the trick usually but I am thankful that tomorrow I can start on super mushy foods. Has anyone else started feeling hungry this early? I was hoping I would not have any hunger really until the first fill, maybe that is just wishful thinking .

    Any July Bandsters??

Okay I am now 3 days post surgery. Today has been by far the best day, the pain in my neck and shoulders is all gone (yea!!) Still have some pain in my incisions but definately not too bad. I am actually starting to get a little bit hungry which is what the doc said would happen after the swelling starting going down. Tomorrow I get to start on yogurts, applesauce, oatmeal. So I am looking forward to a little bit of variety. Today has been the first day when it has been a little bit difficult watching the rest of the family eat and I sip on some water ;D. How is everyone else doing that has been banded recently??
  20. Nice to meet you finding me!! Hang in there!! I am so sorry for all the stress in your life take it day by day. I am sure you are thankful for the band during this stressful time I know for myself I would have probably eaten whatever I could get my hands on when stress hits. I too love to scrapbook have you scrapbook your band journey with before pics etc? I was just banded yesterday and HATE to have my picture taken but I did let some friends take some before pics. Good Luck!!
  21. Yea!!! Got banded yesterday!! I was pretty uncomfortable right after surgery but after sitting up and moving around it was better. Last night was a little tough to get comfortable and I am pretty sore this morning mostly in my shoulders and neck could be from the air they pump in you or me just sleeping wierd to get comfortable. They did have to repair a hernia while they were in there that I had no idea that I even had, so that could cause some of my discomfort I guess. I am trying to only use ibprofen today and save the pain meds for night because I don't want to run out of pain meds and still really need them.

    Any July Bandsters??

Hey there all 7/13 bandsters, surgery went well for me I was home at 2:00 and having some minor discomfort I am a stomach sleeper so I am making sure to take the pain meds right before bed in case i roll over out of habit. I had a lot of pain in my chest when I first came out of surgery but once I was sitting up it felt much better. I hope you are all doing great!!
