Oh Sweethot - I'm sooooo sorry to hear what you've gone through! That's just horrible! I hope you can still look forward to how much happier and healthier you'll be after it all, even with the pain you've gone through these first few weeks!
-
Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!!! RainInSpain - you describe exactly what I felt like on day 2 - it sucked, but I don't think it's abnormal - some of us just have more pain! Take the pain meds, rest, relax, get your fluids, and know that I'm here on day 10, and I am almost pain free! (ok, if I poke around trying to find my port it does hurt a tiny bit) :girl_hug: Going now to Christmas Brunch at Mom's and watching my two nephews devour all the presents "Grandma" got them - luckily both my family gatherings today are with people who know I'm banded, so Mom got my favorite yogurt for this morning, and dinner at my Sister's is chicken Noodle Soup! I love my family!!! Happy holidays to all!

Congrats for all the recent bandsters! I can't believe how well you're all doing! OH and I finally slept on my belly last night!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck Beversman!!!

Congrats, Kay! I'm a stomach sleeper too, and I'm almost to the point of being comfortable enough to try my stomach (my surgery was last Thursday) - so, it won't be long! Just rest, relax, and get what sleep you can. Glad you're doing ok!

Good luck to our Dec 20th Bandsters!

Hi everyone! I'm finally feeling ok (surgery last Thursday afternoon) and also finally have *power* again so I can post! A huge windstorm hit a few hours after surgery so instead of staying at my mom's just overnight or two nights, I was there almost 5 days, as my house didn't get power back until last night! And man, how in the world do some of you manage without the pain meds? I used the last of the liquid vicodin last night and actually got the refill in case I need some more (trying to do just tylenol or advil for the time being). I felt *great* the day I came home after surgery, then Friday it felt like a semi ran over my belly! Now it's down to feeling like a large pickup truck. But man! Ouch! Vicodin is your friend... :biggrin1: I didn't really get gas or shoulder pain, but did get the itchies really bad a day after surgery. The nurse who called to check on me thought it was a reaction to the liquid vicodin. Glad that passed! Also, I've never been the most regular, and well, I had to drink some milk of magnesia TWICE before I got some movement. Yeah, that was fun... not! Does anyone know when they got back to their "normal" regularity? I'm thinking it may not be until I'm back on solid foods... Anyway - I'm glad everyone did so well, and good luck to those that haven't had it yet. Yes, the pain and discomfort is WORTH IT! :clap2: Annie

Nathalie, I'm right there with you! My surgery is at noon PST... what was I doing awake at 5am? Goodness, I hope the painkillers help me sleep tonight, since I haven't slept well in days! Good luck to you and to everyone else that gets banded before I'm back on the board! Annie

I'm totally in the same boat! Excited and scared for tomorrow to come... :clap2: trying to be a busy bee in the meantime!

Oh goodness this is happening fast! I had the initial consultation appointments last Friday, and they said "Oh, we have an opening on the 14th. Do you want that?" I wanted to try to overlap my Christmas break as much as possible, and my surgeon's next opening isn't until January 4th, so I took it. Goodness, that's in two days! I'm panicking right now... Annie (soon to be banded!)

Hi all, this is somewhat off topic but I thought you guys could help! My work is changing insurance companies and I'll have to switch primary doctors. I live in the north Kent area. I'll be self-pay for my band (hopefully will be done in the next month!) since neither my current or the future insurance company cover it, but I want to get a primary care doctor that understands the band... Is there anyone in the Renton/Kent area that can recommend a primary doctor? One by/near Valley Medical would be perfect.

Well, amazingly enough, the talk with mom went REALLY well... once she realized I wasn't talking about gastric bypass, she was supportive and said not only should I do it, but basically that she was proud of me for taking the steps I felt I needed to overcome my weight problem! WOO HOO! So I've got Mom and Sis on my side, but one of my best friends (who I've only been super close with about a year) would rather I spend 6 months with a nutritionist before going under the knife. She hasn't seen what I've gone through for years and years to understand how I've essentially done that before without success... and how this "tool" *plus* nutritionists will do the trick.
-
Gotcha - you're right, we can't win them all! Thanks for the words of wisdom - I appreciate it!
-
Yeah, if it was that easy none of us would be talking on this forum! :hungry: Luckily, my sister has already said she'll take me in to be banded, and knows my mom can be a bit panicky, so I'll certainly have great support. I'm so lucky there! Was there anything that you said to your dad that was particularly good and he responded well to vs. something that he responded poorly to?
-
Thanks guys! It's great to hear of such success! I'm impressed with your weight loss, keep it up! I pretty much know the right things to do and look at the band as a tool to keep me on track... I'm certainly nervous but excited at the same time! Thank you!!!!!!!

Hi all! I'm a bit shy and just have been lurking and reading for a while. I've got all the consultation appointments at NWWLS in Everett in early December, and I'm a bit nervous right now - I want my skinny petite stupidly strong-willed mom's support, even though I'm 32... so I'm going to talk to her tomorrow and tell her I plan to get a lap band. Yikes! If anyone has any suggestions on how to "win" her over (she worries too darn much), let me know! Also, I've heard a lot of positive things about NWWLS, has anyone had any problems with them? Unless there's something super big that no one's fessed up to already (which is unlikely) I doubt I'd change my mind, I just want to be fully informed. Also, do people have a choice as to have the surgery at their clinic vs. the hospital? Annie
