In the time between approval and starting the pre-op diet did you...
wannaBLean replied to sara31's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate to admit it but I cheated a little pre-surgery. Nothing crazy but I did eat solid foods a couple times beforehand. I tried to stay sensible with it but it was haaard! lol But I don't recommend it and I admire anyone who can stick with it to the letter! -

Hello and an iPhone app question
wannaBLean replied to MizDiz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome and congratulations! This forum has helped me immensely. I use the sparkpeople iphone app to track stuff, but I am sure there are others out there. I use sparkpeople.com for the indepth stuff and the iphone app for tracking water and little things. -
I was just banded so I don't know because I haven't found my sweet spot yet but I can tell you that so far I've been amazed. I was like that too- couldn't lose weight for anything. I had medical conditions that caused me to gain weight and medications that kept me fat. Now I've lost 29 pounds in only a month and a half. Personally it's the best thing I've ever done. But take a look around and think it over. It's a huge life change and if you aren't ready it won't work.

I just bought some baby food the other day for my mushies after my fill. I stuck with fruit but I can't eat a lot of it or gets gross. But just a little bit isn't bad.

I have been deducting the calories burned in my diary but I was never told to do that. I bought a calorie king book and it said to do that. But I still try and keep my calories around 1000-1200 despite what I end up burning off.

Good for you! Best of luck. -
Hmmm... I just tried it on another computer and it is working. I was editing it a little while ago- moving it from tumblr, maybe that was the problem? Thanks for letting me know!

I have a blog that I just started- it's below. Thinking of moving to blogger though since more people have it.

1st fill feels funny
wannaBLean replied to wannaBLean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the reassurance. I am able to do mushy food now but it's still taking a while to go down. But that's good news because before it was just the liquids that were causing discomfort. -
So I don't know if this is normal or not: I just had my first fill a couple hours ago and I just had a little bit of Protein shake and I feel like vomiting but it went down ok. I just keep burping and I feel like I want to throw up but I tried to and couldn't. So this is what happened- I went in and he put in 4 cc's and I couldn't drink Water so he took 1 out and that was fine but then I laid down and it started to come back up so he took it out and now I only have 2 cc's in my band. But then for a couple hours I still had that slime stuff stuck in my throat and I couldn't burp or vomit it up. So is this stuff normal? They said at the doctor's that the slime would go away which it did but I'm not comfortable with the feel of wanting to vomit. Will that go away as I get used to the fill?

Thanks to both of you for your advice. I just had a protein shake but my appointment is at noon and it's 7 AM here so I won't have anything else until after my fill.

Dr Milton Owens - 5* - if you haven't done so you should rate him
wannaBLean replied to swells98's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am extremely happy with Dr. Owens. I did rate him already, but I agree, people should be rating their doctors to help any future patients! I go to the Rancho office too and I drive an hour and a half to get there! Going tomorrow actually.. but it's worth it to go to a good doctor! -
I've only lost 20 pounds, but I had cramps for the first time in 10 years last week during my first period since losing any weight. Interesting.

Well I don't mind chicken every day, but plain, flavorles chicken gets old. How do you eat it? Oh and thanks no I haven't heard of that website I'll check it out.

Hi all, I was wondering how long after getting the band you were able to have sex? I'm still pretty sore in my abdomen but was wondering how long it will be until I feel ok being active like that and if there's a risk. I live with my boyfriend who has been real patient but we'd like a time frame if anyone knows. Thanks in advance.

Sex after surgery?
wannaBLean replied to wannaBLean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know what, I did the same thing. I was scared to go for it with my boyfriend until 2 weeks after surgery and even then we only did it once. I'm 3 weeks post now and only now feeling up for it like I did before. I felt really depressed and blah the week after surgery and disconnected from my body too. I get the impression that's not uncommon though and reading posts on this forum, talking about it and getting up and walking around gently helped a great deal. but mostly time was the solution to pulling myself out of the funk. Good luck and feel free to write me if I can help in any way. -
If the band were to slip would I know? I got the hiccups yesterday and I don't feel anything but I read so much on this forum about slippage that I'm all paranoid now that it will happen to me. It just seems like it's easy to have happen.

Oh I'm sorry to hear you had to have it removed! Can you have it put back in again over time?

The whole drinking with meals "RULE"
wannaBLean replied to pmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for posting this question because I've been wondering about it too. I haven't had my first fill yet so I've been really curious about how major this rule is. It's the one thing that I've consistently seen information about but wasn't sure why. -
Oh glad I'm not the only one wondering. Please let me know if your doc says it did anything.

Fears of failure
wannaBLean replied to Adventure Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I totally feel you. I am going through the same thing. I have not had my first fill yet either and am scared that I will not be successful either. Good luck, we can do it! -
Sex after surgery?
wannaBLean replied to wannaBLean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the advice! -
Hi, my name is Caity and I'm 26. I live in Ventura County in So Cal and was banded on June 14th- just this past week. I live with my boyfriend of 4 years and was never heavy until 3 years ago when I developed PCOS and gained 80 pounds in 4 months. Since then I've gained another 20 pounds or so despite trying to lose weight. Since the pre-surgery diet began about 3 weeks ago I've already lost about 20 pounds. Not sure exactly because my scale is different than the doctors. Anyway, I'm looking for someone who can help me get through this. It's been really hard emotionally for me. I was a competitive swimmer my whole life until college so I grew up eating 5 big meals a day and snacking constantly because I was swimming and working out 20-30 hours a week. So I have a pretty messed up relationship with food. I'm changing that. Even when I quit swimming I could eat whatever I wanted without consequence until I got the PCOS a few years after that. So anyway, since I gained the weight I've struggled to change my relationship with food and my eating habits but now that I have the band it's been a forced drastic change and I'm having a hard time. If someone out there can help me get through this and encourage me and tell me about their experiences that would be wonderful. Thanks so much, Caity
