  1. BEWARE CONSTIPATION!! Sorry for the icky subject.... but I was so happy about moving to puree on Thursday... Friday afternoon I was uncomfortable... Friday night I was crying in my bathroom and wondering if I would have to go to the emergency room (which I cannot imagine doing!). No one told me about fiber, softners, or whatever. I thought no food for two weeks meant no.... you know. We worry about protein every day.... what about the FIBER, girls? Perhaps I missed that warning? But it is one mistake that I pray none of the rest of you experience. Not sure? --- take a softner!! * just saying.....
  2. Poor, Sherun! I didn't have to do a pre-op diet.... but I did 2 weeks of liquids after and I was furious with everyone! I have two teenage boys and a husband that don't have to worry about what they eat. My 14 year old thought that I should take him AND sit in Taco Bell while he had lunch (one week after surgery.... and 7 days of liquids only). They just don't understand, but I do. I just moved to puree on Thursday and I am much, much, much, better!! You are not alone!
  3. Is "bandster hell" when you are hungry all the time.... still?? I'm only 16 days out.... but freaking about how much I can eat before I feel sort of full. I just moved on to puree... that is helping a bit, but it seems I have a LOT of calories with this stage. : (
  4. Why Oh Why didn't I listen to your post about constipation?? I thought I was fine..... until I thought I would have to go to the emergency room last night! A very long, gross day/story skipped.... I am feeling better today, but so afraid it's not over. Today I'm all about the softners, apple juice, fiber..... I think it might have been the shock from fluids to purees..... but I don't think my doctor warned me! So, so thankful..... but what a terrible day/night!!

  5. I have to know about popcorn. I have heard it's nothing .... I have heard it's terrible and people have had to have bands unfilled to pass it?! What do the non-newbies say? I LOVE popcorn in the movie theater. *of course only once every month or two.... cost and calories isn't good. : ) and I know only a small amount should be allowed..... but never??

    have u all heard...

    Now THAT'S some funny stuff!!
  7. Just an update.... for you AND for myself. Tomorrow morning will be 2 weeks!! :w00t: I'm so excited that i moved on to puree/mushy tonight! (12 hours early) Roasted chicken and mashed potatoes (blenderized with broth of course....LOL). Go me!! I've gone all this time with no pain.... and now I've got pain on both sides.... one must be the port and the other the band? Not really worried, just a bit uncomfortable. My first doctor appointment..... 19 days post-op will be on Wednesday. I'm planning a weekend of mushy food and swimming!!! :wink2: *and to myself and those losing so much weight on the liquid diet.... do not freak out when some of it comes back. Losing so fast is water and waste.... it's the 1 or 2 pound weeks that will stay off for good!! (I hope) **and to my well meaning friend that has never ever been on a diet..... STOP ASKING ME HOW MUCH WEIGHT I'VE LOST!! I'm giving this process MONTHS and YEARS .... not a couple of weeks of starvation. (but I know you mean well )
  8. Oh... thanks for passing on the message from your nurse guy. Just another bit of info to add to our strategy. (and so glad I'm not the only drop in the well girl!)

  9. Hi, Klisa. I think the time of the month just added to how horrible the liquid stage has been. I start puree/mushie on Friday.... but I've already done that with the tuna.... and tonight I took a can of chicken... not drained.... and added the mayo, relish, and a boiled egg..... and blended the heck out of it. I only ate a couple of spoons.... but it helps. I have developed my first pain today. I am guessing it's the port.... right side a little under my breasts. I babysat today and the baby likes to stand there and kept kicking me when we were playing.... anyway... it's not bad. Although I've done some puree already, I'm so excited about Friday. I'm going to puree mashed potatoes and meatloaf with ketchup! LOL *Hope you're PMS has gotten better. I should also be constipated, but it's not bothering me.... no food, no poo.... I guess. LOL

  10. I'm 9 days out (banded 7/30/10)... and I'm starving!! I have another 5 days of full liquid (no puddings, no cream of wheat, no cream soups...!). Full liquid my behind! Hmm.... do I sound HUNGRY? I'm not sure the doc really put my band in! (kidding.... sort of) How the heck is that woman having a chicken freaking sandwich after 2 weeks? ?! :wink2: *but seeing posts from those 1, 3, 4 years from surgery with no big complications and success is so reasuring! Thank you! I think most people only come to LBT when they are having problems? I've started to worry this is a big mistake. I'm holding my decision for another month or two now!
  11. How's the fibersure working?

  12. We're not weak.... we just like our addictions. I made the mistake of posting my smoking status on facebook... now everyone knows! Pressure! *and I don't like pressure! Good luck. I hope that working with your hubby will help. *I started by only smoking outside and standing.... if that helps.
  13. Day 9 .... I made "tuna soup"... tuna and water it's packed in, a teaspoon of relish, and a tablespoon of mayo. I could have eaten it all in one sitting... I swear everything that goes in drops 4 feet! ugh.... and I started my period today. Cramps.. hunger... and no smoking. Yes... I'm a big bag of fun! : )

  14. Sorry about the smoking, Christie. It's hard... but the Chantix helps me keep focused... and my teenage boys are so happy. I pray I can do it. I guess my thought is if I'm already unhappy (no eating), why not be truly miserable and stop smoking also. LOL *But a cigarette with my liquids would surely help!

    Christian bandsters

Christian Bansters.... how lucky am I?! I just wish I had found you when I wan't logging off and going to bed! I'll be back to read tomorrow!! Banded 7/30/2010
  17. Yah!! July Bansters Site!! I've been feeling pretty good.... and HUNGRY since day 3! Liquids just drop through me. So I drink and pee.... sip... drink and pee... sip... LOL I have another week until I can add something more solid. Skim milk has helped... and the Protein powders. *Who knew you could get sick of chocolate??!! Stitches are starting to itch... and I have a pain in my right side sometimes...not sure. **Can you disrupt your port or band by turning over in bed or sitting up.... when you have to use the muscles in your mid-section?*** I want to wear a shirt that says "Don't Poke the Bear ! She gave up Diet Coke, Cigarettes, Popcorn, and food this month. It's not gonna' be pretty!"
  18. She Blew it out? Wow... that would suck! I'm self-pay, so I would be done. : (

You get to move on? I have another week! I thought tuna (mixed with some low-fat mayo) was a puree.... maybe not.

The pain... is it better? I had a sharp pain on my right side/rib area last night. I was freaked out... but this morning I decided it might have been my cheap band-aids (too sticky.... pulled some skin off when I rolled over and pulled it or something?).

How are your incesions? Mine are a bit red on the ends and they all look raised, like a piece of yarn under the steri-strips.

Wow... rambling on.... sorry. When is your first post-op appointment?

  19. Go, Amber! *my boys are teenagers.... they acted like surgery is nothing.... just mom being "mom" again. But I understand! So glad you got LIQUID Loritab.... I skipped the pain meds because of the huge pills. Be sure to walk with the gas.... and get used to being happy when you pass gas. *something I would NOT have thought two weeks ago!

    How are you doing now??

    Cheaters

4 days post-op I made potato soup (mixed with skim milk)and poured it through a mesh strainer. (the dogs are loving my liquid diet... they get everything in the cans of soups... minus the water or skim milk and flavors that make it through the strainer!). The doctor won't see me until 3 weeks post op .... and the office said "liquids only"... no pudding, no cream of wheat, no cream, no yougurt... but this "semi-liquid" is best I've felt since Friday! I pray I didn't make a mistake.... I added twice the skim milk and strained out all the tiny bits.
  22. uh.....wow. I really hope that isn't normal practice. DO keep us updated. I'm only 6 days out.... but I was unable to get a liquid pain med.for some reason. I had no post-op x-ray (I'm self-pay, and I thought these things were expected and inluded?) And the surgery center was to call and check on me the following day... they called three days later. And now my post-op appointment is 3 weeks after surgery... not at one week and again at two weeks like I thought.
  23. 6 days post-op and I'm just thankful it no longer feels like a drop in an empty well when I drink! I'm on "full liquids".... but this does not include even pudding or cream soups. I'm hungry all the time..... no fear of cream of wheat... I'm just not allowed to have it. I keep thinking the growling of my stomach has to be bad for healing also! LOL But I stopped smoking and I still take my chantix... and my pain meds were not liquid (stupid!)... so I know the tiny chantix pill passes, but the 1/2 loritab was terrible and I had to "chase it" with warm broth. Who knew I was so "fearless"!
