True Results Houston Lap Band Fills
kentx05 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there anybody else that gets their fills at True Results? I was checking my insurance claims and realized that everytime I've gone to get a fill, I'm charged $250 for the office visit and $600 for the fill. I couldn't believe it. I'm assuming it's because they're using the x-ray machine each time they give me a fill. Does anybody else that goes to True Results have the same charges. My insurance covered it but it looks like I might have to pay some out of pocket. -
To you bandsters with great results
kentx05 replied to tabatha lynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
God bless you and thanks for posting this. I do this only to give you a glimpse of what is to come. I was banded on August 9th of this year. My weight loss journey began a month before that when I went on the famous pre-op diet. It was there that I learned how to eat. I was 282 lbs when I started this Lap band journey of ours. After the pre-op diet and I had gone down to 267. Since August 9th, I've gone from 267 to 213 and still climbing down. I have not exercised, which I will when I can, but the Lapband has helped me control my portions. I think the secret to this weight loss is my low carb eating. Low carbing it along with the Lapband have left me with awesome results. The LapBand has controlled my portions and low carbing it has brought in Protein that sustains my hunger for 4 hours or more. The pounds are just dropping. My self confidence is way up. Every day I get comments about how I continue to shrunk. There is not one day that goes by where I don't hear co-workers say, "Wow, you look great". Or, "Wow, you're melting away". The reactions of my friends who have not seen me in a long time is even better. I feel like myself again. LapBand, like our doctors told us, is a tool. But I had to change my way of life as well. My daily staple used to be Cereal, school lunch (2-3 servings of that school lunch mind you), and cereal when I got home. No wonder I was hungry all the time. All those sugary carbs just left me hungrier by the time the spike to my metabolism was over which generally lasts 30 minutes to an hour. LapBand has taught me portion control, low carbing it has taught me how burn fat and keep my body energized. It'll come. Your weight will begin melting away. But just remember, LapBand is one change. You still have to do the rest. I have had about 4 fills. In reality, the last two were the best ones. I was still losing weight when I was in the yellow zone. Stick to it. Believe that it will be and remember to eat right. God bless you. -
Feeling full faster but not satisfied?? :*(
kentx05 replied to BillyTheBear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This can be either two things. You're not in your green zone yet or you're eating the types of foods, carbs, that won't satisfy you for long. I recommend low carbing it. It's the only way that has worked for me. Protein keeps you satisfied for close 4 hours while carbs gives you that full feeling for maybe an hour at most. Consider these things and think about what you're eating. Good luck friend. -
Thanks so much for the link. Right now I've achieved moderate to high levels of ketosis. It worked. Now I'm going to check on that site and see how it goes.

It's the first time and I'm feeling the pain really bad in my tummy. It feels like that constipated pain you get when you haven't gone for like a week but of course I'm not constipated. Is there any way to make the pain go away fast? Please, I'm dying over here.

I'm 22 days out of surgery and I've lost 17 lbs amazingly. This week I started solids and I'm doing very well. My question is, how do you know when your full? I have not had my first fill yet. Is there some sign your body gives you because I'm not feeling it. Do you not feel it until you've had your first fill? Any help would be so awesome. Thanks.

Thanks everybody. I'm feeling much better today. Never again will I try eat pancakes. I didn't know it would be like bread in my stomach. I was fine until I got home 30 min laters and drank some water. Then it was utter pain for 2 hours. It decreased once I began to stay on my feel. I didn't know pancakes could do that. I ate about 3/4 of one which I never do. I've stuck to my post op and now first fill diet to the max. Just one hiccup that I don't plan on testing again.

Seriously? That's all I can do, walk it off? That's what I'm doing right now. How long will this last? I ate 3/4 of a pancake like a dummy. Never again, never again!!!!

How small are we supposed to cut our meats and solids down?
kentx05 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe I was told that when cutting a solid or meat, it was important to cut it down to the size of a dime. I find that very hard. It takes me forever to even eat the smallest meal. Is this true? Does the size we put it our mouth have to be the size of a dime or a quarter? It's hard eating a 4 oz piece of chicken breast by cutting it into dime sizes. -

I am 29 days post surgery. My first fill will be this Wednesday. I've never had anything stuck and of course my restiction is not that great right now. I'm sticking to my pre-op way of eating other than eating only one Protein shake rather than 2. So I guess size does matter after the first few fills? -
Is it true that you have to wait two minutes after every bite?
kentx05 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe I was told by my doctor's post op list that once I start solid food I must chew 25-30 times and then wait 2 minutes before the next bite. Is this true? Am I going to have to wait 2 minutes before every bite of my solid food life? I do stop eating at 30 minutes which is reasonable but I hate waiting two minutes to get the next bite. Oh by the way, I've been on solid foods for 2 weeks now. -
I never ever ever liked to drink Protein shakes. That's until I found Muscle Milk Lite. Not the pre-made shakes. No, that powder one. It taste's great. So much so that I'm drinking it every morning w/o milk. The chocolate flavor is the only one I can speal great about. vanilla grossed me out. I really want to try Peanut Butter but I'll wait. P.S. - Even my wife drinks it.

Amen sister, that's what I'm saying. I wonder if he meant it just for meat though. That would still be annoying. -
How do you know when you're full?
kentx05 replied to kentx05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay I will. So far I've been great with portions. I've stuck to one Protein shake in the morning, and two meals mostly made up of chicken and salad. I just want to know if things will change once I have that fill. I guess it might not since many say it takes them many fills to feel restriction. I'm just glad I'm not feeling any eating pain like others I've read. First fill is next Wednesday. -
How do you know when you're full?
kentx05 replied to kentx05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi friends, I'm the one who started the thread so I felt I should chime back in because I still have tons of questions. My problem is that I don't feel any uncomfortable feeling at all. I don't have watery eyes, drippage in the nose, or a pain under my breast bone. I have none of that so it's hard for me to know when to stop. I've so far limited myself to 4 oz of any Protein I'm eating. Mostly chicken. Also, I've never had a problem burping. Every time I'm on here I hear people say how painful it is to burp. I was able to burp straight out of the operation room. I know I haven't had my first fill so that's why I'm wondering if all of my non-symptoms is because of not having it yet. Thanks everyone, I can't wait to hear your responses. Oh, P.S, I ate some bread today, half a pizza and felt no pain. I thought bread, rice, and past were supposed to be a pain to eat. -
I am 21 days post op and am now just getting my full hunger back. For the last two nights I've heard my stomach growl and growl. Here is my question. I'm on solids right now and doing just fine. I don't know the amount of meat I'm supposed to be eating right now. I haven't had my 1st fill yet. Is 4-6 ounces normal or is it 3 oz now? I'm eating chicken and other meats, mostly Protein and some side lettuce. I just want to make sure this is not me not eating enough or the common 21 day post wall you hit before you've had your 1st fill. This kind of hunger reminds me of what I had pre-operation days.

Eat anything you want since you have no small pouch?

Is it the crust that you have to avoid eating or the whole pizza? What if I eat the pizza but avoid the crust, will that help?

Sick of the liquid diet
kentx05 replied to Merrywood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quadruple that. I am so sick of the liquid diet as well. I am on day 6 after the surgery and I seriously can't even look at a Protein shake. They gross me out now. I'm only drinking one for Breakfast and then the rest liquids. How many Protein shakes are ya'll drinking? I can't wait to eat tomato soup next week. Thank heavens.
