Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
its4janni replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Wannabe, I went for fill in Manchester and asked Frederik for .5ml fill as I was near to restriction and he put 1ml in the syringe but we got distracted talking and after the fill I asked him how much he put in and he realised he had put the whole 1ml in. He did offer to take half out but we decided to see how it went. All was well for about 2weeks but I started to get tighter and tighter. Cos the guy couldnt get anything out at the emergency defill and I had travelled over to Belgium Dr Chris gave me 2 free fills, which I thought was extremely fair. -

Yes I went to Belgium! It took about 7hrs and after having got to the point of not being able to tolerate fluids for 48hrs, Frederik arranged for me to see someone about 20 miles from me to do an emergency defill. Unfortunately he was not able to get any fluid out and after a unfruitful trip to a&e I arranged to go directly to see Dr Chris as I didnt want to risk anyone screwing my band up. The cost of the round trip including travel, xray and defill was around £250. I got two free fills after that because it was caused by an accidental overfill and I couldnt praise them enough (wouldnt happen with UK provider!) I am tempted to go back because a band xray is due which I believe is about £140 in Manchester plus my consult fee. I can fly to Brussels and stay a night in hotel all for £200 for my hubby and me. I will have to pay for taxis and xray (50Euros I think) but i think it works out about even and I get a naughty trip away so its a no brainer really. Going on a cruise in May so will wait till after then. -

Hi there, I did have to go to Dr Chris' house for an emergency defill last year. He has offices in his house, one for consults and another that houses a great whacking great x ray machine! I had a liquid swallow to check the band and a 2ml defill. Taxi waited outside his house and I was in and out within 10 mins. Just a word of warning- terrible diarrhoea about 1 hour after, not good for journey home in car as booked eurotunnel same day return! He did warn me about this but only the second after I swallowed the bloody liquid. Next time will book hotel for the night and get there quickly! Let us know how you get on cos am seriously considering another trip over and incorporate a mini break. -

Hi all, not been on for ever as couldnt find the link for ages! Not liking this new layout. Anyway doing Ok with my bandy friend, a bit tight after my last fill but will get a defill if it doesnt settle down. Great to see some of the old members still on and doin well-congratulations. Lost 79lbs myself which is amazing to me. I feel like a different person. Would recommend the band to everyone but takes some commitment too. Keep working at it and good luck.xx -

Just catchin up with everyone. Congratulations to all the new bandsters. Been banded myself 03/08/10 and am really pleased with weight loss so far-33lbs. Had my first fill but not desperate to hurry back as weight loss nice and steady and can eat most things. Not really much hunger pangs so am saving the fills for when I am really in need of one. Am really afraid of being overly tight so am on a go slow as far as fills concerned. Los of new peeps just startin out so welcome to the journey. -

Just an update-4 weeks since I got my band and very happy with how its going. Have started 'real' food this week and am spoiled for choice after 2 weeks liquid and then 2 weeks mush! Have lost 26lbs(inc pre-op diet) which is great. Am waiting for my first fill next week and I know I need more practice with the chewing as I still think I eat too fast. Good luck to all who are about to get banded_ you wont regret it. -

Hi slinky Am just a few days behind you and thought we supposed to be on liquids for first 2 weeks. Try not to hurry things along too quickly as you dont want to run into any problems -

Just had my surgery on 3rd August. Just wanna say what a fantastic service Dr Chris and his team provide in Brussels. It was seamless from start to finish. (Go direct) I would highly recommend this provider to anyone, these guys know exactly what they are doing. I am a week post op- feeling ok, still slight pain at port site but dont need painkillers. Pootling out and about. Liquid diet not too bad especially as I have made some home made soups. Using a babies bowl and feeling full after that! Good luck to all those thinking of getting a band and to the fellow newbies who just got theirs. -

Well tomorrow i am going to Belgium for a short holiday before we head to Brussels for op on the 3rd August. Am doing quite well on the pre op diet having lost 5lbs so far. Seems a shame to be on holiday and dieting at the same time but will stick to chicken salads. Thanks to everyone on this thread that has given so much support and advice, I will let you all know how it goes. ttfn.xx -
