    Pre Op Diet

I am on Optifast too good luck! It's hard and I don't get the bars today is day 6 for me and I am down 6 pounds that's the only good part lol. I am not hungry just miss chewing so you'll probably be fine because u get the bars
  2. So I have been on a liquid diet now for 5 days and last night I had to go out to dinner with friends for my roommates birthday. I tried to avoid it because none of them know what I am doing and I didn't want to be around people eating amazing steaks right in front of me. I can't beileve it but I resisted the temptation! Don't get me wrong I so almost cheated telling myself "a side salad wouldn't hurt" or "one bite of his steak wouldn't kill me" but I didn't do it! I was talking in my head the whole time lol. I am proud of myself

    Pre Op Diet

Mine is the same way! Optifast 4-5 premixed 8oz shakes a day and drink at least 2 quarts of water a day. I can also "eat" sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles and and can have a cup of chicken broth if I feel light headed. It's no fun. I just want to chew lol. I went out with friends last night and I would have killed for my friends Caesar salad it looked so good! I survived so I know I can do this
  4. I am on my first day of my liquid diet for my for my preop and these protein shakes make me so nauseous I called my doctor about it and he said that I could eat as long as I followed my 1000 cal diet to the tee so that I would lose enough weight (they want me to lose like 10lbs in two weeks!). If I don't lose enough they said they wouldn't be able to do the surgery... I don't know if this is a scare tactic but if it is it is working! Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you get past the nausea? I tried putting it over ice and that helped it go down but the second it hit my stomach I felt like throwing up. I really want to stick to this diet but I know I can't keep feeling this way 5 times a day for the next two weeks. They have me on optifast shakes. Please help

    so nauseated :(

Thanks everyone today was a little bit better and I am hoping that it continues to get better. I did get some coffee extract to add to my vanilla shakes to mix it up a bit I am still having a really hard time though. Its not the nausea now it is all in my head! I just can't imagine not eating for another two weeks!! I am not hungry but I keep wanting to eat lol. Just keep saying to myself "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" Really hope I can keep it up

    Prejudice against fat people

You do not need to start over at all! Just ask for a copy of your chart or medical records and they will that the three months of monitoring. I am glad u stood up for yourself and found a new doctor! I work in the medical field and the predudice is disturbing and upsetting. Good luck to u in your journey

    so nauseated :(

Thank you! I am so glad I have you all for support! I have very few people in my life that know about this (all of them are supportive I just don't feel the need to share this with everyone in my life). I'll stop by and get some extracts after work tomorrow

    so nauseated :(

Thank you carolinagirl for the suggestion about freezing them I will try that. I know it is to ensure that my liver is smaller that is why I didn't want to start eating again. I am on the optifast shakes

    I'm April 8th!

well you are on a liquid diet its not really eating... and the shakes my doctor put me on are only 160 cal. Listen to your body, maybe drink a lot of water right before bed and that will help if you are really worried about the calories from the protein shake

  15. Picking up protein shakes tomorrow and I start liquids for my two weeks pre op on Thursday so excited but super nervous about it. 18 days!!!!!
  16. My doc puts his patients on it to shrink the size of your liver pre op so the surgery is easier and to promote weight loss before the band. It will be interesting that's for sure lol

    Got my Date!

    Incision Ooze?

I am a nurse and I agree with your doctor the yellow discharge is actually oils from the fat that is oozing out of the skin and pink is just a little bit of the blood. As long as the incision doesn't not being hot, drain green discharge or bright red blood, or become very red you should be fine to wait. But as always if you really don't feel comfortable you can always go to the ER.
  20. I am on the 11th as well!!! I am so excited!
  21. I am extremely excited to announce that I got approved by my insurance company! I am going to be an official bandster in april I cannot wait for this journey to begin even though I feel as if it already has. I would like to thank everyone on this forum for inspiring me to take this journey. Woo hoo April 2013 bandster for life
  22. I am so excited that my three month diet monitoring is completed I have an appointment with my doctor on monday and after that they will submit my information to my insurance then the wait for insurance approval I am hoping a praying that I get it because I have worked my butt off so far and I have never been more determined to loose this weight. I have quit smoking, stopped drinking soda, quit drinking alcohol, started exercising 3-4 days a week and started a whole new eating regimen. Being diagnosed with sleep apnea 2 months ago has really snapped me into reality. I can't wait until I am an official "bandster" even though I already feel like I am

    Significant Weight Loss?

I am pre op and I the two months I have lost 16 pounds using the lose it! App. It allows you to scan the barcodes of food items and automatically puts in calories, carbs, fats and protein
  24. So I am about 1.5 months into my pre op diet monitoring and I just found out yesterday that I have sleep apnea I was super upset that I have this even though I was almost 99% sure I did to have it to hear that I have "severe off the charts" obstructive sleep apnea crushed me. The only good thing about this diagnosis is that my MD said it has now basically guaranteed my insurance will cover the surgery because until this diagnosis I had no other co-morbidities. I was worried about this because my BMI is on the "low" end for my insurance (although I don't know how 41 is considered a low number but oh well). I am now more then ever determined to lose the weight. My question is has anyone ever heard of anyone with sleep apnea get denied by insurance if their BMI was under 40? I am still worried about it even with everyone at the doctors office telling me that I will get approved.
