Help on chewing and swalloing
soanl1412 replied to Hersheyskiss21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you might be too tight but if it is because you are taking big bites that might also be the cause. First try eating with baby spoons or forks it really really helps force you to take small bites and has really helped me. Also either use a stop watch or watch the clock and only take a bite once a minute... I just started timing my bites yesterday and it has really helped. -
Hello I can only tell you what my insurance said. I was on the "cusp" as well at 41 bmi and I was also afraid of going below 40 bmi because I didn't think I had any co- morbidities, I also didn't really try to loose weight. Then I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and I knew I would get approval as long as my BMI stayed above 30. Research your insurances policy on lap band surgery so you can know for sure what their co-morbidities are and if you will qualify. The more you can stick to your diet monitoring plan the easier the post op diet will be for you.

After fill diet... What does your doctor have u do?
soanl1412 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my first fill today woo hoo lol. 3.5 ml in my 10ml band. I am just curious what other doctors have you do for your diet after a fill since preop diets seem to vary so much doctor to doctor. My doctor has me on clear liquids for two days then a day of soft then back to a regular diet. How about you? -

I hadn't heard that it may take two weeks to feel restriction. I felt restriction before I had my fill but it did not last more then an hour and I was starving! I can't wait to start my soft foods tomorrow... hate liquids! -
My breaking point! And yours?

Sadly my push that made me consult with a surgeon was a fight with my ex but I wasn't sold on it. Then when I found out I had sleep apnea was my 100% turning point and I haven't looked back since -
That is why I lonly told a few select people about my surgery. I had one friend who didn't want me to do it but he seems a little bit more supportive now. Good luck to you!

My first fill is tomorrow and I am so so ready for it! I get full after eating a meal but it sure does not last long at all! Ready to jumpstart my weight loss. So far post op weight loss is 14 pounds but only 4 pounds in the last 4 weeks... I know it is good but I am really looking forward to it coming off quicker
-
that sounds great! I am post op 6 weeks going in for my first fill tomorrow and so was not looking forward to being back on liquids for the day but I am definitely looking forward to trying that out

I decided to roll a vacation into the surgery time so by the time I go back it will be 19 days post op and I am so glad I did it that way because I was fine about three days after surgery no pain meds then day 7+8 I had to take meds because my port site hurt. I am a RN so I have a lot of lifting so I am really glad I waited to go back... Just not sure I want to anymore lol

I was banded a little over two weeks ago and I started exercise two weeks out. I just have been listening to my body when I did Zumba about half way through it started to hurt my port site when I jumped up so I just modified it so I didn't jump. I won't tackle crunches until week 6 but I really want to start them because lower stomach is my trouble area
-
I am two weeks post op today!!! Feeling great did my first Zumba class tonight and I loved it! I have lost 11 pounds since surgery for a total loss of 37 pounds feeling great and starting to wear some old jeans
-
I lost 26 total between diet monitoring and the 2 week liquid diet. I have lost 11 pounds in the 15 days since surgery I am not really worried about my loss slowing down because I am burning more calories then I am consuming. I was so ready to get out of there I am so happy I didn't have to stay.
-
I was the first case of the morning at 8:30... Yeah just started puréed food yesterday. I am loving it lol. Did u start them yesterday too? I am feeling really good I attribute it to starting an exercise regimen before surgery and taking long walks everyday right after surgery. I am surprised but I can even sleep on my stomach! Why did the lady before u have to have the band taken out? There was an older lady right after me who seemed to have a tough time walking maybe that was her.

Yes I was! That is crazy lol how r u feeling?

Considering the band...

Hi Adam I am 5 days post op now I have only had one episode of nausea without any vomiting and I feel really great! The first couple days there was minor soreness at the incision sites and some gas pain but as long as you walk and take your pain meds its fine! If you have a desk job you would have no problem going back to work in a week (in my opinion). I am a RN and my doc said I could go back to work in a week with no restriction (but I decided to spoil myself and take almost three weeks off with a vaca thrown in the mix ) -
I am two days post op and feeling really good! Gas pain is gone just incisional pain now. I've taken 1/2 miles walks every morning and went shopping and treated myself to a pedicure On top of feeling great I have lost three pounds woo hoo Loving this new life but I have to admit I am counting down the days until I am on the mushy diet... 12 days lol
-
I had my surgery yesterday too! Congrats to you!!

On my way to get banded :)

I am doing great! My stomach just feels like I did to many crunches I was so afraid of taking my first sip of water but it doesn't feel any different then normal. I am so excited now that I know what it feels like to drink... That was my biggest fear -
So so so excited! Can't wait for this journey to officially begin!
-
Well technically 1 day 23 hours and 10 min until I am banded I am just a little bit excited can u tell

Today marks one week until I have my surgery This time next week I will be sitting in preop holding with the net on my hair getting ready to be wheeled back This has been such a long time coming and I am so excited (if you can't already tell). On my way now for my preop testing
