1. Hi All...I saw my surgeon today for my 6 week post op appointment, and after telling him that I had been using Mederma for the past 3 weeks, he told me it was better to switch to a silicone-based gel. I was wondering if anyone had used the gel's (not the strips) and which brand? I bought the Scarguard MD today at CVS but I wanted other input from other's who have gone through this. Thanks!

3. I had a tummy tuck last December, and my surgeon moved the port so it was a little deeper in my abdomen muscle. You should make sure to find a plastic surgeon who is familiar with performing surgery on a bariatric surgery patient. Maybe ask your lap-band surgeons office for suggestions. Good luck!

Anyone from NY

The 23rd will be my 3 year "bandiversary" since I was banded at NYU by Dr. Ren. I can't believe how fast the time has flown!
5. When I had lipo done on my inner thighs, I felt the brushing feeling for up to 2-3 weeks, even though the physical bruise was gone by the middle of week 2 . I was definitely more sore than I had anticipated. I am just about 2 months post procedure, and honestly, I'm back to all my normal things, however, on days that it is hot and humid, I am more swollen, so my legs tend to be a little sore.

Arm Lift

I had an arm lift and tummy tuck in December, so it's been almost 8 months. Honestly, I think that because I was in more pain from the tummy tuck, I didn't notice the arms. I did not have drains and I only had compression garments for about a week. I was using my arms within the first two to three weeks (although, I wasn't doing any heavy lifting for almost 2 months). Honestly, yes, the scars are hidden most of the time, however, my skin did not handle the incision very well, and I will most likely have to undergo either laser treatments or scar revision because my scars are very thick and still extremely red. I did have a stitch removed about a week post surgery, in my armpit, which left me with a small open wound for a few weeks, but it was more annoying than anything else. The best part for me, is that I have barely any sweat glands under my arms anymore, so I don't sweat under my arms anymore, therefore not needing deodorant! If I had to do it again, I probably would.
7. I am almost five months post op from a TT and arm lift and I love the results. I just scheduled an appointment to have lipo done of my inner thighs (my surgeon believes that i can get 75% of the result I want with lipo instead of having to undergo an inner thigh lift). I was wondering if anyone has had just lipo of this area and if so, how was the experience?

lipo of inner thighs

I figured that now that swelling has gone down (its been about 7 weeks since I had the lipo of my inner thighs), I'd post an updated picture. I don't really have a before pic, so here is an after pic. I can't believe I am now able to wear shorts!

Surgery on arms thursday

I had an arm lift, with my tt, in December. I remember not really being able to do much of anything with my arms for at least a week - i needed help with most things. By the second week, I was able to use my arms to help me get out of bed (which was difficult as my stomach was also recovering). I don't remember much of the specific recovery after that, as I was more focused on the tt recovery. Overall, I don't remember the arm part being so bad. Hope this helped, even if it isn't much info. Good luck with your procedure.

5 Days Post-Op

You look great. I am 6 months post TT and my abdomen is still numb in that area. It is a weird feeling but its worth it. My surgeon said that there is a possibility that the feeling will never come back...

got a look at my inner thighs!

I have not had an inner thigh lift but I am recovering from liposuction of my inner thighs, which I had done on Friday of last week. I have to be honest, the recovery is not as easy as people have made it out to be, however, I'm sure it is much easier than a thigh lift. Although there is a lot of swelling, the pocket of fat that I had is already 1000 times better - my surgeon removed 1400ccs of fat. This is hopefully my last procedure (I had a tt and arm lift in December)...I just need to see if the skin remains tight. I'll post before and after pics in a few weeks when the swelling has gone down a bit.

lipo of inner thighs

Yes, all the procedures I've had done to date (the tt and arm lift) as well as my upcoming lipo I had to pay for. I did not have any medical reasons (i have not lost more than 100 lbs, i did not have my skin hanging low enough, and i never had any rashes that needed to be documented or treated by a doctor) that would cause insurance to cover it. It really is tough to pay for this work, as it is expensive, but it was definitely money well spent!

Tummy tuck

15. Hi all! I was banded by Dr. Ren in 2010. I absolutely love the practice. Hopefully I'll see you all at the annual Dinner Cruise around NYC this summer.

Anyone from NY

Hi Mary. Welcome to the site. I don't want to discourage you in anyway, but I did want to let you know that I've known a lot of individuals who were banded at north shore, who either had problems with the band, or had to have their band removed. I was banded at NYU in 2010 and I've been told that a lot of patients from north shore will have the surgery, then switch to nyu for follow up appointments. Make sure that when you get the surgery that you go for follow-ups and adjustments. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help! Good luck!
