Top weight 342lbs. Pre-op Weight 330lbs. Surgery Date: 3/24/10. Now 6/15/10 - 305lbs. 4 adjustments. I have been fat all my life but people always said I carried it well. As I told each person that said that. Thanks - It sure feels heavy. Most of my life I have been around 280lbs and slowly without really noticing I topped at 342lbs and ended up in the hospital with a serious case of diverticulitus. I turned 40. I realized that my beautiful wife and 2 little girls ages 4 and 2 were the ones that would suffer from my health - not me. Until this hospital stay I had a clean bill of health. No real problems yet except that I was tired all the time. Sure the issues were coming. A fatty liver and I am sure diabetes is around the corner. The real problems are going to be here soon if I didn't act. I'm guessing I would die 10 years before I should and not enjoy the years that I am living. Like most, I have tried to curb my bad eating habits with every diet that's out there. I don't want to be this way. I don't want to be fat. But everytime I pick up a pizza or a soda it feels like I need it. I decided that I had to do something more drastic and got the Lapband. This is not easy and I have just begun. It seems that this 4th adjustment is working and I finally have some restriction. The restriction and the encouragement of my Doctor is keeping me motivated. My goal is 210lbs but my real goal that I don't tell anyone is that I want to live. - Paul R.
