I have Aetna and have had no problem. I had the lapband in 2016. I had it removed in 2014. I had the sleeve in 2014. And in January 2016 just had a revision on my sleeve. I only did the 6 months in 2010 with the lapband. My doctor is in New Jersey. Once my paperwork was submitted for each surgery I got my response within 24 hours. And no extra money out of pocket. Just my co-pays.

I cook all my meats in a slow cooker. Don't reheat in microwave. Uses lot of liquids to soften.

Gastric Sleeve Revision Surgery
papoose replied to Grek79Ital's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had the lapband in 2010 and lost 135 lbs. Did very well for 2 years. But had to have an unfill in 2013 for thyroid surgery. After that all my fills were not working. Once a month I would get a fill return in 2 weeks for an unfill. I also started gaining weight. In 2014 I had my band removed. Waited 6 months then had the sleeve surgery. I lost initially about 20 lbs but then started gaining again. I gained about 50 lbs since my lapband loss. So finally the Dr. Suggested maybe doing a revision to the sleeve. I had an endoscopy and that showed my stomach was very dilated. On Jan 29, 2016 I had my revision to the sleeve. He stated he removed a large portion of my stomach. I really feel the difference. With my first sleeve I didn't feel this tight at all. At a month out I can barely eat 4 ozs, I am having a hard time getting in my liquids. Still drinking protein drinks. And I am down about 15 lbs. I feel I am losing slow but that's fine because I do feel I am losing inches. Good luck to everyone. -
Back to work Monday.... not excited
papoose replied to Learningtolive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 1/29 also. The first two weeks was very hard. I am ready to go back to work. I sit at a desk all day. My only problem will be my commute. An hour each way. -
I put all my meats in the crockpot and cook for 8 hours. Meats end of very soft. Make sure you add liquids to it. And I don't heat up leftovers in the microwave. I steam it wit liquids on the stove.

papoose replied to mnmlst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
n. Once it was approved. I had no requirements he removed the lapband in May. I had to wait 2 months to have the sleeve. But decided to wait until the summer was over. I did have to have an endoscopy done. -
Sept 3 sleevers?
papoose replied to Wisdom2KnowTheDifference's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved 9/3. Tomorrow I go back to work. I have a desk job, but I do have to,walk to my attorney's offices. I was doing good. I have started having a lot of gas problems. Still not going to bathroom on a regular basis. Trying to get in all my water and eat. Drinking different kinds of protein drinks also. My weight stalled, but on Saturday I see 3 lbs came off. I feel I have lost a lot of inches already. I had the band so I know how the scale goes up and down. -
My surgeon gave me a 3 month supply of urosidol to prevent gallstones he said.

I am taking 4 weeks off. I have an office job and sit all day. But there are days I am up and down. Plus I commute an hour each way on public transportation. Then walk 7 blocks to and from the bus. I am exhausted thinking about it.

Did your doctor fight you on the switch
papoose replied to ladytru84's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I mentioned it to my doctor. He agreed. His office filled out all the paperwork and sent to the insurance company. -

switch from lab band to gastric
papoose replied to ladytru84's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My insurance paid for everything. I had Lapband inserted in Sept 2010. I had it removed May 2014. I had the sleeve done Sept. 3, 2014. -
Try sipping. And spacing the sips. I get the same thing also. So I just rest a minute in between. Or I will drink something warm and it seems to help.

How do I know what's normal?
papoose replied to tiffdmill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should call your Dr. just to make sure nothing is going on. I was sleeved on 9/3 also. Every so often I feel a little pain. But nothing too serious. My only problem I just feel exhausted. I am up and driving. On Tues I went for my post operation Visit to Dr. And was cleared to have puréed foods for two weeks. I am having a problem drinking my fluids and protein drinks. I think it just takes a lot of time to heal. So just take it easy. Good luck. -
Do they weigh you right before surgery
papoose replied to brown eyed gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weighed in at the hospital. It was part of the vitals check up. I was shocked I had lost 5 lbs (according to their scale) . -
Check in for me. One week out tomorrow. Went for my post-op visit today. Everything is great. I can start puréed food for two weeks. Then start solids. Only thing I am confused with is he gave a prescription for my gallbladder. Explanation is so I don't get gallstones. Anyone on this medication?
