What does the "green zone" feel lke when you eat?
papoose replied to donricardo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I am in my green zone. I feel like what Rachel412 said. I used to pb a lot until I got in my green zone in June. I just feel full most of the time. It is just a weird feeling that you know when you have had enough and you stop eating, because if you take one more bite it will be coming up or you will feel very uncomfortable. I had my surgery 9/22/10 and have lost 110 lbs. I did have a plateau for a couple of months, but once I got my last fill which was only .2 (with flourscopy) they weight started coming off again. I go to the Dr. next week and will discuss with him further. -
After losing about 80 lbs someone in my office told a good friend of mine that I had become cocky. I said oh well I have been working very hard to lose this weight. So I have now cut her off my list of people I talk to in the office. On the other hand my family and good friends are very supportive and I hear the skinny comments all the time, but I think they are happy that I have finally took the weight off. So don't worry about what the naysayers say. Good luck to you and I am sure you will do very well.

It used to happen to me all the time. I got my last fill in June, which was only .2, Dr. didn't even want to give it to me because what he saw under flouroscopy that I was tight enough. I told him I was very hungry in the evening, so he just gave me very little. Which put me at my sweet spot. I have noticed I don't get stuck as much anymore. I may just feel stuck in the a.m., which is probably the norm. But if I drink a cup of hot tea before eating my food will go down a lot better. I am 9 months out and have lost 110 lbs.

You might be. You should check with your Doctor's office and follow their guidelines.

Where do you buy papaya extract?
papoose replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I get stuck if I don't throw up on my own I take the chewable Papaya tablets and they usually make me throw up and I feel so much better. -

papoose replied to Brian-LA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit the wrong button. Let me finish. So I have reached ONEDERLAND. I had my surgery on 9/22/10. This a.m. I have lost 100.5 lbs. Yippee Yippee. I have never felt so good in my life. I can not believe it. Without this lapband I never would have reached this point. I have 30 more to get to my goal. So hopefully I will reach it before my year anniversary. After my last fill on June 7 of .20 I am never hungry I have to make myself eat. I have 5.0 in my band. I just have to exercise more. I just want to thank you all for your ups and downs. By reading what everyone is going through helped me a lot. It helped me to realize that we all plateau at some point in this venture. So good luck to me. -

I got my lapband 9/22/10. I am wondering if my scale is broken. I got my last fill on June 7, my doctor felt I didn't need a fill but I told him I was very hungry at night. So he gave me .2 cc's under flourscopy. I think I have a total of 5.0 in a 10 cc band. He gave me the right amount to put me at my sweet spot. I really have to make myself eat, I don't get as hungry as I used to. The reason why I think my scale is broken is because the first week after my fill i lost 3 lbs. I went to my primary dr. and he has not seen me since i got my clearance to have the surgery. He was very happy with my weight loss. He was not happy that I had stopped taking my high blood pressure medicine and my blood pressure was high 130/100, he told me to start taking my medicine again and don't stop taking them. So that was a downer. This morning I got on the scale (I don't know why) it's friday and i usually only get on the scale on Mondays. What a surprise I lost 7 lbs. 5 more pounds and I have lost 100 lbs. Never thought I could do it. I am so pround of myself. I just need to make myself exercise more to tone up the flab. I do walk a lot. I hurt my shoulder a few months ago so that has made me stop. I have to start going to therapy, but going on vacation so will start when I return. At this rate I may be at my goal weight or close to it by 9/22/11.

liver shrinking diet: day 2
papoose replied to Stacey H's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have tried Tea and Fruit Punch. -
What sweetener are you using?
papoose replied to Drlnangel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try Pure Agave Nectar. They sell it in all the grocery stores. I stopped using sweetners, it was making hungry. -

Try adding the flavored packets to your water. They also have these new flavored liquid called Mio. It doesn't taste bad. I can't stand drinking all that water either. But they really help. I am 9 months post op. And I hate drinking water also. Good luck to water drinking. -
has anyone brought food with them to fills?
papoose replied to ohhamburgers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr's policy is no food for 24 hours, just liquids. If you don't have a problem after 24 hours you can go back to normal eating. If you find you can't eat then go back to liquids for a couple of days, try eating again if you still have a problem call the office for an unfill. I suggest you do not take food with you or even try to eat. Just stick with a liquid diet for the rest of the day. I can not even have anything to eat before my fill that morning. No eating after midnight. Just water the next the morning. -
I think I am at my sweet spot. I have had 4 fills, totaling 5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I had my surgery 9/22/10. I have lost 80 lbs. This last fill was only .2, my dr. felt I didn't need it, but I was starving at night. Now I don't feel hungry at all. I have to really make myself eat. And when I do it will last 4-5 hours. I am now wondering how long this will last, but enjoying it a lot.

That is great news. You should go to your Dr. he may even take you off your meds. That happened to me I felt weak and light headed. I went to the Dr. and he took me off of the meds. I was taking 2 pills a day.

I eat enough protein, take biotin and my regular vitamins. I have 3 bald spots. I finally went to the dermatolagist and she said because of the surgery, perming and coloring my hair. She gave me a shampoo and oil for my hair. I also took some blood tests and next week will go in for biopsy on the bald spots to make sure everything is ok. After all the testing and she will see what is going on then thinking of giving me shots in the head or rogaine treatments. I finally went this past weekend and had my hair trimmed all the way down. A week later I noticed my hair is growing back, especially in the bald spots. And everyone loves my short haircut. All I do is brush it and go. But like the other poster said it was worth losing 80 lbs for in 9 months. Looks like from what everyone says you will lose hair and it will grow back eventually. lol

I went Aetna's online to look for a bariatric surgeon, so this way I would know what Dr. is in my network. When I found one, I went to his seminar and then made an appointment. My first consultation with him, he talked to me more about the surgery and told me I would qualify. They gave me a packet of what his requirements were. I called Aetna to find out what there requirements were. I went to his office once a month for 6 months and took all the tests and requirements that they wanted. Lucky for me Dr. Gritsus and his staff were very professional and nice. I spoke to my primary during that time and told him what I wanted to do and he said he thought it was a good idea. He wrote me a medical letter of necessity for Aetna. So maybe you should start with Aetna and then look for a good bariatric surgeon in your area or ask your primary dr. for a suggestion. Whenever I go to a Dr. I always check online or call Aetna to make sure they are in my network, so I won't get billed. I just had to pay my co-pay everytime I seen him. Good luck in your journey.

I have Aetna had to see the surgeon for 6 months before surgery. I then followed all of the dr's requests, nutritionist, psychologist, endoscopy, get a letter from my primary dr. supporting the surgery. At the end of the 6 month period the Dr's office submitted the paperwork to Aetna in 24 hours I got a call that I was approved. They scheduled my surgery for about a month later.

You probably are constipated. I get like that when I am constipated. Try milk of magnesia. I also drink this tea called Smooth Move. I drink a cup before I go to bed at night and the next morning I am ready to go and feel so much better. Feel better.

NO PRE-OP Say whaaat?!
papoose replied to CurlyDiva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op diet was only the day before surgery. I had to drink only liquids. After the surgery I had to do a liquid diet for 1 month and then I could go straight to eating regular food. We had no mushy stage. No eating for a month nearly killed me. -
Support Group meetings in North Jersey is at Englewood Hospital, Englewood, NJ and Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck, NJ.

LOL. I am staying away from hotdogs in the future.
-
No food after midnight. And the day of only liquids. The next day go back to regular food. If you have a problem then do liquids for 2 more days, try to eat the next day. If still a problem go back to Dr.

I usually feel it right away. It feels like something is stuck and nothing can go past it. Next I will start sliming or hear my stomach making noises. So I will go to the ladies room and try and make it come up. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times before I feel relief. On Saturday I was at a picnic and ate a hotdog no bread. I guess I took one bite too big and didn't chew it right. No bathroom was around, I finally got in the car with my uncle to go to his house (he didn't live far from where we were at). Lucky for him and me he had paper towels in his car. I could not hold it any longer. I didn't make too much of a mess in his car. I was able to catch most of it in the paper towels. About a half hour later I went and got some hot tea and I felt so much better. A few hours later I was able to eat again (but did not have a hot dog). I ate chicken and chewed, chewed very small pieces. What a difference and it stayed down.
