Thyroid Cancer And Lapband....
papoose replied to MeredithMcFee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just had my yearly physical and blood tests and my thyroid test came back abnormal, Dr. told me I have hyperthyroid. But wants me to take another blood test in about a month and see the outcome of that one before she decides on any medication. I never had any problems with my thyroid before. -
My dr. says that is normal and I have heard other people say that also. So I drink a cup of warm tea in the morning before breakfast and it seems to work. good luck on your journey.

Wierd Ringing Feeling In My Lap Band And Port?
papoose replied to Sarah_uk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I notice that also, thought it was me. I am always checking my pockets looking for my cell phone, thinking it is vibrating. I am trying to figure out if it is a sign that I am hungry. I had my surgery 9/22/10 and have lost 100 lbs. It is annoying sometimes. -
Lap Band Port Placement
papoose replied to loretta\ Baconton Georgia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is placed right under my left boob. I used to wear underwire bras, but it was so irritating. I finally asked my dr. about it after reading what other women had to say about it. He told me not to wear underwire bras. After losing over 100 lbs I guess I should try an underwire bra. I buy good support bras so I have not been drooping in them. -

They have Biotin that is good for the hair in a pill form that melts in under your tongue. I also take vitamin B-12 that melts under your tongue. I also take chewable multi-vitamins. -
Who's has experienced a New NSV Lately ?
papoose replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes we all are about due. You are doing a good job. I have lost 104 lbs also, I have 40 more to go. But the scale is moving very slow. I think I need a fill. The last time I went in Sept. for my year check up. He told me to wait another 3 months, they didn't want to overfill me then I am running back to have it taken out. I feel some days I am struggling not to overeat. But all in all it is going very good. Keep up the good work and I love NSV's everyday I have a new one. -

strange pain once a month
papoose replied to MelissaNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It maybe the wire in the bra. I can't wear underwire bras. The wire sits right on top of where my port is. I kept getting strange pains when I wore my bra, when I took it off it was fine. I mentioned it to the Dr. and he said it's your bra. So I don't wear underwire bras anymore. Which is very hard to find. -
Used my lap-band card for the first time
papoose replied to JimR915's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went on lapband.com, there is a 1-800 no on it and they ask you some questions. That's how I got mine. I tried to use it a couple of times, but they did not accept it. So I just order what I want and take a doggy bag. I like the idea of getting 2 or 3 meals out of 1 meal. -
I am a success. I had my surgery on 9/22/10 and as of today have lost 101 lbs. It's not easy. I pb and throw up sometimes and I know why. If I don't chew small pieces of meat I will get stuck. You have to follow all of your Doctors orders from day 1. All Doctors have different instructions. Just follow what your Doctor has to say. Also, go to your support group meetings. It is good to follow this blog, but sometimes you just can't read into it so much. Good luck to your husband on his journey.

For me my stomach is my alarm. I am a year out and I can go 4-5 hours in between meals without eating. I do sometimes have a hard time getting in my liquids, because I may be full. I usually wait an hour to drink after eating. But sometimes drinking makes me fuller. As the comment says above mine it does get easier and easier. Good luck on your journey.

Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!
papoose replied to Brian-LA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today it is official for me. It is real. I can not believe I have lost 100 lbs. CONGRATULATIONS to me. I must say some days it was not easy. I have a very finicky band. Some days I am so tight I can not eat anything and i throw up. Now the last couple of weeks I don't feel tight. I feel like I am eating more. So I made an appt. with my doctor to see if I need a fill. But the good thing is i am down to a size 14 in pants and large tops. Never thought I would fit into a 14 size pants. I have a 30/40 more to go and can't wait until I get into a size 12. Now I have to really get my head into exercising. I walk more but I need to actually get into the gym and tone up all this flabbiness. -
My bmi was over 50 when I had my surgery. I am also 55 years old. I have lost 100 lbs. Never thought I would lose that much. You just have to follow all of your Dr's instructions and it will work. Good luck to you on your journey.

Congratulations. You have said it the best. Keep up the good work and good luck on your journey.

Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!
papoose replied to Brian-LA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad everyone is doing well. I have found out the band does work. You just have to follow the rules. My band anniversary date is 9/22/10 and I have lost 100 lbs. I still have another 30 lbs. to go. I have not been perfect, I slip and go off a lot. I don't exercise at all. So that is my next mission is to get up and exercise. I had a wonderful summer doing a lot of things I don't normally do. The band is not easy at all. I know when I am not chewing enough, my band will tighten up. But all in all I love it and I feel so much better. I have stopped taking so much medication. I still have to take my high blood pressure medication, but at a much lower dose. So congratulations to us all that have had this surgery. -

When I get that feeling I stop eating. For me it means I am going to get stuck or I am stuck. So I relax for a few and see if I start PBing or throwing up. It will be a year for me next month. It is so important that we take our time and eat and chew chew chew. That is the only way we can feel and tell what is going on with us. Good Luck to you on your journey.

need to buy new scale
papoose replied to kristenaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just bought a Health O Meter from Walmart for $24.95. I have had it for a week and it keeps reading the same numbers so not sure if it working correctly or not. I will give it another week or two before I return it. Maybe I just have not lost any weight. I feel I may be plateauing. -
Are you drinking protein drinks? That she help keep you feeling full. I only had to do one day liquid diet before surgery and after surgery 4 weeks (that was hell). Your Doctor's office should have given you a list of different liquids you can have. Good luck on your journey.

My doctor's scale is normally 3 or 4 pound difference than my at home scale. Except my last visit, I noticed a 20 lb difference. I kept weighing myself at home and the scale kept getting lower and lower, I was happy thinking I was losing a lot of weight. The other morning my scale wouldn't work, then I remembered to change the battery. Spent $10 on new batteries, scale wouldn't work at all. Went to Walmart and bought a new scale. Finally got it to work and I was up 20 lbs. So I guess my scale has been broken since my last visit in July to Dr's office. Uggghh, now I am upset. I have to stop depending on those scale numbers. But the good thing is I am down 100 lbs. Now I have to get off the last 30 lbs.

papoose replied to S2b's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My double chin is gone and I don't have the turkey waddle either. I am pear shaped too. I noticed my stomach has gone down a lot. Now I am waiting for the hips and buttocks to disappear. But I am happy with the results. 100 lbs down.
