I was taking Lyrica before I had the surgery. After a couple of weeks of having the surgery, I felt so much better so I stopped taking Lyrica. One of the side of affects of Lyrica is weight gain. I noticed that pre-surgery and complained to my dr. about it. We tried another medication but it did not work as well as Lyrica.

I want this thing out of my body...
papoose replied to jenn90808's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there. I had my surgery on 9/22. It took me 3 weeks before i felt better.. I had terrible gas pains and constipation. I finally called the dr. and he didn't know what was going on. He told me to go to the emergency room, there i had all types of xrays, barium swallow, ultrasound of the stomach. Everything came back good. Liquids were flowing to my stomach correctly. Dr. told me to take colace. A couple of days later i had a big bowel movement (sorry too much info) and felt so much better. So don't worry you will start to feel better soon. -
i had my surgery 4 weeks ago and i guess i am having that same pain. mine is below my port, all of sudden i will feel something, not sure what type of pain it is. it is good to see that it will go away eventually. i don't want to be a baby and keep calling my dr's office, so i am trying to hold off until i go for my fill on 11/9. also the tiredness and no energy you feel, it took me 3 weeks to get over that feeling. i am just starting to feel normal again.

papoose commented on nancy_marie_00's blog entry in Blog 100512
i had my surgery 4 weeks ago. I lost the first 2 weeks after surgery and now have been at a standstill. I am hating the scale. I am following my food intake very well. I am using a lot of will power to stop eating. From these blogs i see that we will start losing more when we get our adjustments. Mine is not until Nov. 9th. -
Everyone should attend a support group before getting WLS
papoose commented on Amanda1982's blog entry in Blog 102902
my dr's office has a nutrionist have a support group meeting once a month. i went a couple of times before i had my surgery and just went again last night. the problem is it is 45 min. from where i live and after my commute from work and then to go there it is a very long night. i just called the hospital in the same town as where i live in and they have one once a week and it is open to the public. plus they have meetings on saturdays, so that is where i will be going now. i enjoy them very much. -
i am 4 weeks post op also and have not lost any weight. i have gained a couple of pounds. i think it is because we just got off of the liquid diet and we are now eating. our body is adjusting to the band. From what i have read on this site that once we get adjusted we will start to lose weight. i will be adjusted on nov. 9th. i had my surgery 9/22. hopefully if we follow our nutrionists rules about eating we will start to lose weight. good luck.

i had surgery on 9/22 and still feel very weak. it is getting better day by day. i also think i am not eating enough. -
had my surgery yesterday. surgery was delayed 2 hours. was wheezing and my oxygen level was low when i woke up. they gave me treatment and i felt a lot better. passed barium swallow test, started drinking liquids and everything went alright. got home at 8:30p.m. drove through a terrible rain storm. feeling a little sore, not too much gas, just tired.

i went back to work today. very tiring, even though i sit at a desk all day. the commute is a killer. hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. i was not hungry until the end of the day. i had a balance bar and i ate that on the bus until i got home. i rested a few minutes and fixed my dinner and lunch for tomorrow.

papoose replied to bunnyluv37's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well i guess i am different. i have been 3 weeks and feel i could use another week. i am very tired and low energy. i travel to work on public transportation to a different state. i am on a 3 week liquid diet. my doctors office never told me that the allowed time off is 2 weeks. i told them i can take a month off and the pa never said anything to me. i am willing to go back to work if i could eat a few days before returning. -

i take the flu shot every year. they give it to us free at my job. i may miss it because i am recuperating from the surgery.
