Should I tell my OA food sponsor?

Hi, I know its an old post, but I am in Grey Sheet (formerly OA) and I discussed it with my food sponsor because I think it is important that she know. If you feel like your sponsor will judge maybe they arent the sponsor for you.
  2. Hi Cheryl, I had my band out last week and am doing fine. It really wasn't horrible at all. A little pain now at the port site, but nothing too bad. You might want to check out greysheet to help you with some of the emotional eating problems. I struggled even with the band but found that I got my eating, and then my weight under control only once i dealt with the actual eating problem. Good luck, will be thinking of you. Daniel
  3. I had a similar situation, I had the band out this am and am so much happier.

Today The Lap Band Comes Out

Not so sad anymore. I have had so many complications, and am still 120+ down with dieting. It came out this am, not nearly as bad as placement.
  5. Today is the day. After complications for a few months, the band has to come out today. I have both a posterior and anterior slip, and doc says that should he even attempt repair he could only give me a 2-5% of success with it. Kind of upset, but not terribly so, because I am down about 130 pounds in less than 18 months, and mostly due to a food plan that I am on, and not so much the band. I am nervous after reading some of the horror stories on here about recovery, but hopeful that it will go as smoothly as placement. I am choosing not to do a revision or additional surgery, just removal. Strangely I feel sad to say goodbye to the band, and I am thankful for the initial 40 pounds I lost with it, but tired of feeling pain and burping. Will keep you updated. Dan

    Compression shirts

I like the spanx or equmen ones. Expensive but worth it.

    How Visible is Your Port???

Mine is certainly visible. Not so much under clothing, but then again, I wear a lot of suits and sweaters. Its more a bump thing. I asked the doctor about it, he said it is unlikely to change much, and that at some point, when I have reached the weight loss I would like, if it still bothers me, I can have it changed to a thinner one, or perhaps just re-set in lower. It doesnt bother me all that much, and no one has asked. I am far more self consious about the scars which are not some kind of faded purple color and more noticeable.

    Me

  9. Got banded yesterday. I was terrified of the anesthesia and pain, as my wife was banded in January with tons of pain after. I woke up from anesthesia and was very nauseous and in some pain. They gave me Zofran and Dilaudid. The pain medication made me feel worse, and dizzy and shakey. I got two more doses of pain medication while in the hospital and I was fine. I got home today and I am ok. In a little abdominal pain, but for the most part ok. My back hurts more from the hospital bed than my stomach does from surgery.

    Any July Bandsters??

Just got my approval on Tuesday and found out my surg. date will be July 26th! Nervous, excited, etc. More kind of scared about the actual surgery than the recovery and diet after. Started preop diet on Sunday.
