  2. we have done all kinds of crazy diets! of course a gaining weight diet is no biggie!!! I had to and I am glad I did! Believe it or not gaining weight was actually hard and I also had to put some weights on and heavy jeans and dug out my winter heavy boots even thought it was late april in the south! hehe!! the additional 10 pounds helped alot! one month post op i have lost all the weight i gained and I am now exactly where I was when i first started the venture. So, now the real work starts for me!!

    New bandee

Good luck and hope the pain goes away soon! Take the pain meds, walk and try the heating pad. Unfortunately, my shoulder pain lasted 13 1/2 days!!! I actually had to have doctor refill my pain meds! It was pretty intense. The gasx and heating pad helpd a bit but I was still in pain!! I know it's unusual for the pain to last that long but doc said it happens sometimes!! Don't get discouraged! I am 4 wks post op. Feeling much better although the burping is still happening!! i have lost 10 lbs since surgery!! I had lost another 10 post op!
  4. I had my band surgery 6/16 and was on my period. I told my nurse as I was being admitted. She said no problem I will just get you some disposable panties (that were soooooo not pretty) and a huge pad to wear to surgery!! Don't sweat it!

    Banded July 1, HI, !!!

Hi Patty, I have BBG 20 month old triplets! I got banded on 6/16. Its been 3 1/2 wks and I have to tell you, I am still battling the exhaustion. I am eating food. I eat just about everything only in very limited quantities and I chew, chew, chew. I also supplement with Protein bars or shakes. I am taking my chewable mulitivitamin and Calcium but still feel quite tired. I have a super busy schedule with babies just like you and exhaustion is the last thing I want to deal with!! I am hoping it will start getting better!! Good luck to you! I live in Alabama and the heat and humidty is horrible here!!!
  6. the number to call is on ur referral
  7. i had to change doctors. all you have to do is call tricare and tell them that you would like to change doctors! for me it was immediate. I got my new letter in the mail within days!! it should not be a problem at all!! I had to change clinics because the original clinic i had chosen had a 1 1/2 yr wait list!!!

    Shoulder pain...

i had shoulder pain 13 1/2 days!! It was terrible. Did lots of walking, gasx and heating pad!! today it has been 3 wks exactly and the burping is still going on! it is super annoying but common with lap band as I understand from others who post!! I hope they get better because it is pretty annoying and quiet loud!
  10. my doc did not take coffee away...just use artificial sweeteners. I love my coffee with fat free hazelnut creamer. Have used it for 15 years! When I worked overseas I would order the stuff online I was so hooked. I switched to sugar free hazelnut and it's simply terrible. I endured it trying to keep to my low carb diet but I slowly started losing my taste for coffee. By the time I had surgery...I was ok. Now, almost 3 wks post op, back to my normal fat free hazelnut creamer but I think I have lost that loving feeling for it! I can barely drink 1/4 of a cup in the am...very unusual!! I just don't know. My taste buds seem to be changing. I can't say I miss it at this point in time!

    Am I insane?!

check with your nutritionist. I was allowed 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. this I mixed with 1/2 cup of sf jello. i know it sounds weird but it really helped me!!! check b4 u eat all centers are different!! i had to do low/no carb diet for 2 wks to shrink liver. (my liver was beautiful day of surgery) I only had to do 2 days of liquid diet which allowed protein shakes and a bit of cottage cheese!

    Are you really NOT hungry?!?

i was banded on 6/16. i had to do the low carb diet for 2 wks to shrink liver. did great on that and my liver looked so pretty! also had 2 days of liquid diet which wasnt too bad! I haven't been hungry at all! Unfortunately for me, I was in pain for 13 1/2 days! it was horrible. the pain in my shoulder was terrible! then from using pain meds got constipated and that was very painful as well!! I have lost 8 lbs since surgery!!

Post op activities - - swimming

the surgical people were the ones that told me 4wks. pretty standard--it was the same thing with my c-section!

Post op activities - - swimming

my doc said no swimming or baths for 4 weeks!! incisions need to heal completely!!
  17. I know all docs are different but mine is really differnt and making myself be nervous. had surgery on 6/16. 2 wks of very low/no carbs! 2 days prior to surgery all clear liquids. after surgery liquids to include protein shakes. 7 days post op...i can introduce chunky food. really!!!! im so confused!
  18. yes...yes...and yes....surgery is hard and the body adjusting to all that is going on is also tuff!! I keep reading this forum cuz it inspires me to keep positive. We are not alone. It is conforting to find help and advise from others who are going through the same! :scared2:
  19. banded on 6/16....shoulder pain is still recurring. usually after I eat! doesn't matter how little I eat it still hurts. my doc refilld my meds hate taking them but see now other way around it! I am also using the heating bag that heats up in microwave and that seems to help. I am finally able to burp without agonizing pain and seem to burp alot now!! I am trying to stay positive but it is pretty rotten pain! Saw my doc last wed and he said it may last a few wks esp since i had the hernia repair and those nerves are all connected! sigh....have lost 6 lbs since surgery!!:scared2:
  20. people judge regardless of how close u r to them!! My husband is my biggest supporter! I told my two sisters--no judgement--they are my biggest supporters and cheerleaders!! My mom doesn't know. she is old school and she wouldnt understand. She lives in another state so no problem keeping it from her. We are very close but a little weight in your 40's to her is no big deal...it's where we should be...HA!! We also told a neighbor and one of our closest friends because we needed their support to help with our children while I was in hospital. Both very supportive and wouldnt tell a soul. It was a better decision for me at this time. No regrets at all! One friend who is very judgmental actually found out I was in hospital but I told her I had hernia surgery which wasn't a lie at all since they fixed my haietal hernia. If you don't feel comfortable telling and you want to keep this to yourself, it's your decision!! I told my husband...gonna be the Star Jones of Alabama!! HEheheheh:thumbup:

    2 days post op

not too soon to walk! walk, walk, walk. drinking hot tea helped me alot. I drink chamomille. it was very soothing! do you have rx for pain meds!!? i took pain meds every 4 hrs for the first 3days!! plus anti nausea meds and gas x!!! if doc didnt prescribe pain meds call him!!! unnecessary to endure pain!! my pain lasted 5-6 days!!!
  22. my doctor said absolutely NO STRAWS!! the biggest thing to know is that you will be in pain!! Take the pain meds every 4hrs!! also, make sure you have gasx ready! i also had nausea and took my nausea meds every 4hrs as well!! I had mine done on 6/16 and the last two days i have finally felt like myself. had lots of Fluid retention but it slowly went away--took about 4 days. I have lost almost 5 lbs although...doc said not to weigh myself and heal first....hard not to do for me!! my doc recommends moving from liquid to chunky food around day 7 if you can tolerate. I had about 3oz of steak last nite. ate slowly and had no prob. Tonight i had salmon. also no problem but I am taking my time to eat and chew, chew chew.... For me reading other peoples posts has helped alot! To know that you are not alone. everybody heals at different pace and you will see that from what others post. It's comforting to know others have gone through and survived what you will go through! good luck all!!
  23. my doc said to stop drinking my calories and to eat chunky food!!! he said I dont need protein shakes anymore!! i was a bit shocked as I am only one wk post op! he said there is more nutritional value from real food...beef, chicken, anything my little heart desires! I actually don't mind protein shakes and plan on using if I simply don't feel like eating a real meal but understand that I should choose chunky food vs liquid!!
  24. i had surgery one week ago today...on 6/16. saw doc today. incisions look great. like others, this surgery kickd my butt and i carried triplets so i am not wimp. today i had the shoulder pain twice. i took pain meds twice. i also realized that i had read about applying heat. i have a heating bean bag and used it tonight on shoulder. what a relief!! doc said shoulder pain might last a little bit longer....sigh....
