I was banded June 7th and have lost around 24 pounds. Most of it was pre-op and one week post-op. I had some lower ab pain right after surgery and now it is awful. I have been to my ob/gyn and got an ultrasound of my ovaries, no problem. Today, I went to my regular dr. and he ordered a CT scan of my abdomen, no problem. I now have an appt. with my lap-band doctor Monday. Anyone else experience this? It is like a pull or cramp and it hurts. It is getting worse and no one seems to know what it is, not even my dr.s nurse, that is why I am seeing them Monday. I should be feeling fine and exercising and doing all sorts of things, but I can barely move around. Any suggestions?

It's not good - need surgery again!
shilohgirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am five weeks post-op today. I went back to my surgeon today and he said the tubing has come apart at the top and I need to have it replaced. He said it was one piece and basically it is a defect in the tubing. Anyone ever heard of this? I don't know if I want a new one or just have him take this out and be done with it all. They are calling me back tomorrow after talking to the Lapband Co. I really hate to go through with everything again and can't afford another surgery. What to do? What to do? :grouphug: -

I didn't really understand what yall were talking about until yesterday when I got STUCK. I was driving down the road eating waffle fries, and thought I chewed them up good, but guess I didn't. It really scared me at first and since I was driving I didn't know what to do. I remembered reading on here about the saliva and sliming, so I took the bag my food was in (I took the food out) and started spitting in it. By the time I got home and spit some more I was over it. It was a reminder to stay on my diet and chew, chew, chew, and chew again. -
Lower Abdominal Pain
shilohgirl replied to shilohgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your responses. Everything is working fine, some normal gas. I am taking the meds my regular doctor prescribed and I am a little better, but still in pain. I walk like an old lady and if I drop something it takes me about a minute to bend over and pick it up. Hopefully they will be able to tell me something Monday. I don't know where my port is and was wondering if it was that. Thanks! -
I had shoulder pain for about three weeks. I was beginning to think it was something else. The nurse told me that your arms are up above you during the surgery and sometimes that is the problem. It will get better.

I was banded on 6-7-10 and have been experimenting with the food on the food list. I am finding I can eat any of it with no problem. I am not eating that much and am getting full. The problem is I am not losing at all, even gained 2 pounds. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I must admit I have not completely started an exercise program. I am frustrated, I am eating way less than I used to and way less than anyone else around me and not losing. Hoping I will see a difference soon. I did lose 22 pounds from the two week pre-op and one week post-op liquid diet. I'm still happy I did it! -
Chantelle, Good luck on your surgery. I had mine June 7th and it took me about two weeks to really feel better. Just remember time is your friend and it will get better. It really wasn't that bad. I had some left shoulder problems that felt like really bad arthritis and it is 98% gone. Now I have to get on a good exercise program and continue to lose. The pre-op diet was the worst. Now I am slowing eating more solid foods and it has not been bad at all. I just can't eat too much and that is a wonderful feeling. Take care!:bored:

I have a port question. I don't know where mine is? Is it where the largest incision is? I thought that was where they put the biggest instrument. It does feel a little hard there and at first it puckered and I thought the dr. went in through my belly button, but he didn't. I was banded June 7th also. Thank goodness the pain in shoulder has finally ceased, I think.

Oh yeah, I am finding non-food rewards a nice change. I got my 1st pedicure about a week after surgery. I am going to reward myself every 25 pounds or so. Other rewards might be going on an overnight trip or day trip, shopping (of course), maybe a nice restaurant to eat. Any other suggestions? Of course the greatest reward is the scale and someone saying "how great you look," or they can tell you are losing weight.

Yall are both so encouraging and that is great! I was banded June 7th and have lost 24 pounds since surgery and pre-diet. Every day gets better and better. I am praying the confidence and good changes in me continue! Good luck to you both.

Alright, how long does this "gas" stuff last. I still have very painful pain in my shoulder that comes and goes. Also have a lower left pain way down in the lower part of my stomach. It comes and goes too. They are both very painful when they are present. I have been walking and up and about when I can stand it. Also I can't eat much, which I know is a good thing, but I've only had about 400 calories today and fill totally full. I'm worried I won't get enough food. I start mushie foods next week, hope I can eat some more by then. I just want to feel healthy and I tire easily now. It has just been 10 days since my band. Other than that no problems with the actual incisions or pain in or around them. Just wondering if any of this is normal. Just need some reasurring. Thanks:smile2:

Gas still 10 days post-op?
shilohgirl replied to shilohgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your help Sawyer and Nean. Just looking for some answers. This morning - no pain and I feel great. Just hope it continues so I can get some things done. I was really in pain yesterday and it kind of scared me. I put some heat on the lower pain and maybe that helped. Thanks again  -
Distrubing side effect...
shilohgirl replied to bluezfan01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 6-7 and had awful diarrhea and gas. It is getting better. I think it is just because we aren't eating anything with much consistency, therefore it will be liquid. My doctor said I could take some Pepto if I needed to. Hopefully the more solid type food added it will get better! -
Good morning! Had my first post op visit yesterday, and I am down 21 pounds since the two weeks pre-diet before surgery. So in three weeks I have lost 21 pounds. Hope I can keep that up now that I am starting on heavier liquids. I just don't seem hungry at all. I ate some yogurt this morning and fill fine and not hungry. Do you still eat even if you're not hungry? I feel like I should to keep up my energy. Everything was healing fine and the rash is getting better. It was an allergic reaction to the velcro or elastic I think, plus the heat. Tross glad you are doing so well too. I can only have thin mashed potatoes, creamy Soups, and just sf Jello, popsicles, and puddings for another week. Then I can start on alot more mushie stuff. Things I didn't think I could eat, but I will try them. Everyone stay focused and good luck in the continued week!

Good morning! Glad to see some others adding to our discussion. Going to today for my first post-op visit. My Dr. is not going to believe the rash I have on my mid-section from wearing the corset. I had to quit wearing it and go to my local doctor, get a shot for itching and some kind of creme. It helps the itch, but it still looks awful. If I could get rid of that and my occasional shoulder pain I think I would be great. The shoulder pain comes and goes, but when it comes it is really painful. I am suppose to get a new diet today of creamy soups and stuff. So ready. I did eat some yogurt this morning and it went down fine. I haven't even been able to have a Protein shake. I want to get back to a routine of eating Breakfast, lunch, supper instead of just drinking stuff all the time. Now I need to get started on an exercise plan. Feeling better every day, no regrets today. Hope everyone else is doing good. Let's continue to encourage each other!!!!!

Glad to find someone else who was banded the same day as I. I too was wondering if I did the right thing. So far things are better with each new day. I have still had alot of gas going on and diarrhea and now a rash where I had been wearing the corset thing. I had to stop wearing it, but still have the rash and intense itch. Glad you are feeling better. I didn't have any of the nausea or vomiting you spoke of. I just ready to eat something besides Popsicles, broth, jello and liquids. I go back for my post-op visit on July 15th.
