I'm a total moron, amd i think i messed up

First off, DON'T STRESS! It will be ok, just hop back on track and get back to the diet. You can do this! You will have to work at it, but as someone else said after a few months, the Big Mac wont even be worth the effort...Dont give urself unreasonable goals, Small goals will help boost ur self esteem and make u more successful in using ur "tool". Good luck in ur journey! You can do this!
  2. Boil the chicken to where it is so tender it will shred with a fork, then season with white pepper and i use chopped green chilies in a can from the taco section in the store. I then top this on salads or eat alone. Really yummy and nutritious. White Pepper is a great seasoning, i use it on lots of things. Happy Eating! Monica
  3. Ok so let me start this by saying I was never a puker, I was never bulimic, obviously or I would not have needed the band. I am 6 months out of surgery and I am doing well, but sometimes find myself over eating, not all the time but sometimes, and I feel AWFUL! All I want to do is get the food out after overeating.. A new trait to me, as I never liked puking, but honestly it seems like the only thing I can think of to feel better. But here's the catcher, when I try I can't... I dont know why but it seems like the food will not come up past my band.. Anyone else experience this or know why this is? Any tips on not overeating? Again this is not a often thing.. Any help welcomed!! Thanks

    Did you plan first meal?

I dont remember my first meal, but maybe try something like a tortilla soup in a crock pot, the meat would be tender from cooking and veggies soft.. Good luck, I'm sure whatever it is it will seem out of this world!! lol

    I've hit a wall ....

40 lbs is awesome! I am about 4 months out as well and down about 35 lbs, I have hit a plateau recently. I upped my protein with shakes in the am and lunch when possible and it helped to get me back on track, Your body adjust and gets used to the routine, weither food or exercise it knows it and stops changing in lbs. Also as for the period I am 29 and have only had one since the procedure, but have been told it is from the weight loss. But hey I am not complaining about that. Good luck, platueas are hard, but worth getting past. I too am a runner and I recently joined a running group in my area, which is helping me change my pace. anything to shake things up! good luck!!

Shapewear...should I wear it every day?

I LOVE my shapewear! Although I do not wear it all the time I do wear it frequently! Not only does it give me smooth lines, I really think it helps my confidence, especailly when I am bummed about my weight lost progress. I have found it helps me to see progress and everyone compliments me, after all it is still my hard work! I use spanx and bodywraps! Bodywraps are better in my opinion, they are more durable and breath better and more comfortable, can be found in high end boutiques.

To drink or not to drink!!??

U can still drink, but be prepared to have a lower tolerance. I found wine is better, beer carbonation makes me feel bloated... Good luck, just remember to offset your drinking with your intake that day. It's all about choices. I will add though that my "hangover" was a different experience and i felt worse, not like puking worse, but just eww worse. Dont know if it was a one time thing or what. I am in sales and hate to say it but "socially" drink often. I have been ok, i just limit my amount. Good luck, and Cheers!

    Exercise after Band

I walked immediately after as did a lot of folks, but went to running 4 wks out, really until you finish your post op diet, you dont have the energy to do hard core exercise. Now i run a few times a week and am up to 6 miles. Exercise is definately the key. I too also am losing inches over lbs, i was told not to fret though i am gaining muscles i did not have before. Good luck, the important thing is to find something you enjoy, so you will stick to it! Monica

    What are your soft stops?

I feel full! Like there is no room to put anything else in my body. I also do the sigh.. You learn them as you go, be patient, there are many different stop points, you will only over do it a few times before you realize them..

Not sure what I am doing wrong!

I know the feeling I was there too. I stopped watching the scale and focused on working out. Although at some point I was not losing lbs I was losing inches. Hang in there, it will get better. I agree with the other post though, definately up your protein. It is hard to stay focused, but hang in there! Good Luck, there are lots of people rooting for you! Monica
  12. band is going good, just a slow process, I am hanging in there and trying to get back on track~ Thanks for asking! Best of luck to you!

    Scale?

Although my doc says not to look at the scale (i am totally obsessed with it), I bought a fairly inexpensive Weight Watchers one at Target, it is glass and it is only half a pound off from the fancy one at the Dr's office.

    red bull?

So heres the scoop my dietitian says if you really feel the need, then you can drink a carbonated drink (although not recomended) after letting it sit for quite awhile. In otherwords let it go flat and then add it. So if you are going out, then you might consider doing this, not sure how to do it in a bar setting, but I am sure you can get creative. I have to say I was banded on the 18th of June and I thought it might be nice to try a soda and when i did i was totally disgusted, so in essence i guess what they say about ur taste buds changing does happen, look for a new drink, maybe a screwdriver.. Hey lets be honest, most of us do like to have a good time and at some point a night out does happen.. Best of luck, and enjoy your night out!

If this is the sweet spot: Count me in!

Best of luck! I too am chasing the dream of the "sweet spot" I had a fill today and got to 6ccs. I am hoping for some improvement in the full feeling. I had soup and was really full in no time! Only time will tell if that is real resistance or just swelling.. Good luck!

    Question for the banded ladies....

If you feel really anxious, call the hospital tomorrow. Most hospitals have a barriatric nurse now that will follow you throught the process. Tell her and form a plan now, this will cut the anxiety out for you. Remeber surgeons see everything all the time and they are professionals, so dont sweat this. Get a plan and now it will be ok! Good luck!
  17. So I was banded on the 18th of last month and I have hit a plateau on the -20lbs mark. I cant seem to get past there even after my first fill. (4cc in a 11cc band) Wondering what others have done to get back on track and how you keep motivated...Come on bandsters I need some help from you! Thanks!

Protien really make a BIG difference

Wow this is totally speaking to me. I realize after reading this I have been slacking on my protein intake too! Thanks for posting this reminder..

    too much food?

Mr. Mom Hang in there, if it is good for you, no problem! When were you banded? How much of a fill have you had? I was banded a little over a month ago and continue to lose and can still put down bread. Alot has to do with where you were on eating before this. If you really chowed down (as I'm sure most of us did), then this just might be you adjusting, My thoughts as long as you are not "miserable" and are still on the right track (losing weight), then just keep it simple! Good job on asking though, and honestly, there are far wrose things you can consume. Subway although not totally healthy, has turkey meatball subs, and well bread is bread, but in consumption is ok. Even though it is carbs, if you are exercising, you need carbs to burn(in moderation)! Keep going just be sensible! Good luck! PS I'm down 23lbs and eat bread! for now until I am too tight to do so..

this is harder than i thoughtt..

Go to Vitamin Shoppe and get some fiber powder to add some fullness to the shakes to get some substance in you..This will help you fill fuller. Good luck, hang in there!

    Alcohol post-op?

Be responsible and know that drinking will effect you differently after surgery, my suggesion is if you insist on drinking, even though you are under age, then do it supervised for awhile after surgery, and that does not mean in the company of your other underage friends, in order to avoid any situations. Also self control is a lot of what makes the band sucessful, so be mature enough to know that if you are going to go through surgery adn dish out that kind of cash, or your parents are going to, then dont sabatoge the process! Just some advice, not trying to harp on you...

    Very sad at the moment...

Scream, runner, do a kick box class, anything intense to get out the feelings. May God bless you tonight and in the days that follow. Hugs and prayers for you...

    I Wanna B a Runner...

Ok so I was banded on June 18th and I am in full swing of the workout phase. I walk every evening, and My goal is to be a runner. Let me fill you in and tell you that growing up I was athletic, I played softball all through school and was really pretty good. Yes I know everyone says that but I was pretty decent. So the point is I used to be athletic but I was never a runner, and I have always dreamed of being a runner. My sister went through lap band about 2 yrs ago and ran a marathon last year, and missed running it this year because she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is almost done with chemo and wants to run again. My goal is to be able to run with her next year ( and keep up). So my question is: HOW DO I BECOME A RUNNER??? My atheltic days seem to be slipping my mind...help me out here please.. Any advice is appreciated!
