I have never been a skinny girl, but I can clearly remember the days when I could shop like the trendy girls and wear the same clothes. 2 children later and 9 yrs of marriage, I can no longer shop at the "good" stores. This decision did not come to me lightly to have th lap band. I have really weighed the pros and cons (no pun intended), and at first had just decided I was meant to be a BIG girl all my life. My husband loves me and my curves and the kiddos surely do not know any difference. Then I just decided it was time... I did not want to keep struggling to get off the floor, or be winded from going up the stairs, or heck even out of breath from tying my shoes. Then the final decision was made, when in December, my one and only beloved sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. What a eye opener. Although she is fighting it with style humor and grace, it made me realize that life is too short to be the BIG girl. It also helped when doctors told her, she would not have been able to handle the brutle treatments of chemo if it had not been for the weight loss she has had from lap band. You see she is a fighter and watching her has helped me make the decision to change my life and get out there and be skinny and LIVE!!! So Soon I too am taking the plunge and entering the Club of Lap Banders!!! My sister will finish her treament this summer and it is my goal to be able to do the 3 day Avon Walk for a Cure with her next year. If she can survive breast cancer, losing her hair and being sicker than I have ever known her to be, then I can lose some weight and walk in her honor next year. So let the journey begin!!
