    3 weeks Banded

Its been 3 weeks and I have to say that I am pleased with my band so far. The hardest part for me was the liquid stage but now that I am on the puree/mushie stage, which pretty much for me equals soups, fish and very soft veggies...life is great. Its so weird that although I have no fill yet, I can only eat small amounts and dont feel hungry all that often. Even this weekend, I was at a party and told myself that I would cheat and got a peice of fried chicken...after two bites and chewing for a million times...I decided that I wasnt hungry and no longer desired the chicken and put it down. Ohhh and the weight is starting to slowly come off... Things are on the up and up!
  5. I too am on week 3 and started mushies last week but found that the scale is moving slowly but in the right direction. I think its because I think I wasnt getting enough calories on the liquid diet because I hated the shakes and so my body was on strike. Now that I am eating fish, Soups and soft veggies...I eat very little but take in more calories and add a few days at the gym on the treadmill and its working. Give your body a few days to adjust to the change in diet.
  6. Bypass wasnt an option for me because of the possible side effects and rapid weight loss. I chose the band because of the fact that you lose weight slowly and you have the choice to make it work for you. Its been 3 weeks since surgery and I am not disappointed. I have lost 21 pounds in 4 weeks and I know it would not have happened without the band. Good luck on your decision!
  7. Hey lady...I'm doing well now that mushies are in my life! I have been enjoying fish and soft veggies and yogurts and pudding oh my! lol....how are you? When do you get your first fill?

  8. Hey lady...how goes the mushies?

  9. I feel your pain! I finally left the full liquids phase and am onto the mushies! Life is great because now I can have Protein, veggies and fruit and its okay to have low fat yogurt and sugar free pudding. Its only been 2 days since I started these foods but I feel so much better. I am not keen on blending my meats and so since you dont have to puree fish, that is what I have been eating and its sooooo yummy. I find that after eating 4 oz of fish and 1/4 cup of veggies, I am full. I dont know why or how but I hope this keeps up until my first fill, which is over a month away! I agree with previous posters, call your doctor and ask to progress to the next step early..I did and they let me start 3 days early.

    On the countdown to mushies!

Today is alittle over a week since my surgery, last Monday and I have to say that I am feeling pretty good. My post op appointment on Monday was literally 5 minutes and I was sent on my way until my first fill in 4 weeks. Now that the swelling has gone down, I am hungry!! I hated drinking the protein shakes since the pre-op week but now I really HATE them. I am sick of liquid anything, which includes soups and jello and even frozen pops. All I want now is some "real" food...bring the mushies! I have to be on mushies for 3 weeks and so I already know a million receipes that will make me happy...so here is hoping that I survive until Saturday.
  11. Remember when you were on the count down for your mushies??? we'll thats me this week!!! How are you?

  12. Lol@ Tracie. The funny thing is that I swear the food stages are mind games to make us appreciate food because I would go bananas for a peice of chicken and some veggies right about now. I don't even want junk food...
  13. This is a great post! I was banded 7/26 and went back to work this past Monday. I feel no pain at all and can actually sleep on either side, which is a small victory after last week. My incisions were glued and look like they are trying to heal. I am hungry and sooooooo over these damn Protein shakes and Soups. I need some tuna, mashed potatoes, fish...I could go on for days...needless to say I can't wait for the mushies to start this weekend. The best part of my first week after the surgery was the fake restriction better known as swelling but I suppose my swelling has gone down because I am ready to eat some REAL food. Good to know I am not hungry alone.

    24 hours post surgery ...

You were me last week! I slept on the couch the first few nights because it was much more comfortable to sleep sitting up with my legs on my ottoman. I too had a discovered hernia and so I think that adds to the pain, especially with breathing. As each day passes, you will feel so much better!
  15. Hmmm, some of those sound good...I will have to try. Thanks for the link!

    5th day!

Wow, your progress sounds exactly like mine so I guess we are on track!
  17. Even though I am still not all that hungry...I can't wait to get the green light for my mushies...I want so many things!! lol

  18. I wasnt sure who would be doing the draping and such and so I just trimmed up and shaved my legs...just in case I ended up on display.
  19. Girl, it went well...they also found that I had a hernia and had that repaired as well. I am feeling MUCH better today...walking, laughing and even driving. Surprisingly, I am still not hungry yet and so I am struggling to get my protein shakes in. How are you and your mushies that you were craving? :)

  20. Hi ladies- I was banded on 7/26 and I am supposed to be on Protein shakes and liquids but for some reason I don't fancy the taste of my chocolate shake anymore but I have been drinking juice when I can. I get full much faster and dont feel as hungry....this seems different than everyone else saying that they are starving?? Any suggestions to get my protein in?

    Thursday is the DAY!!!

Good luck! Don't be nervous, its the start of a new you! The day will go by quickly and it will be over before you know it. Talk to you on the other side :cursing:
  22. :) I do feel it and feel pretty excited about it. What stage of foods are you on? I am on protein shakes for the next week and a half but its hard to drink them all because I dont' feel hungry.
  23. Yesterday was pretty sucky. I was nauseous all day for some reason and it was hard to drink the amount of liquid my doctor told me to drink. Luckily, I didnt actually toss my cookies because my chest was still sore from the hernia repair and so that would have been horrible. I did sleep much better and I sipped water through the night and today I woke up feeling good. Less pain, no nausea and feeling on the up and up.
  24. I am actually doing much better today...I had my surgery on Monday.

  25. Thanks for the well wishes...I am feeling MUCH better today.
