How Often Do You Get Stuck?

I've been stuck twice in 2 1/2 years. Once with chicken skin and once with bread. Ive not eaten either since. I really don't like getting sick and I guess pre-surgery my doc put the fear into me that everytime I did vomit, I could be doing damage to my band. I'm a tiny, and I mean TINY bite eater and only eat at the table; never in front of the tv or standing at the counter. Takes a lot of discipline but keeps my head out of the toilet

My Weight Is Stuck. Help

First off, congrats on your weight loss this far. I can only speak from Personal experience with my journey. My success, I feel can be attributed to logging everything and I mean EVERYTHING I put in my mouth. Not only does it log calories, but proteins, carbs, etc. I try to eat my carbs in the morning only and rarely after 6 at night. I also change up my exercise each day with cardio everyday, lower body and upper body alternating days. My cardio is either running, swimming, squash but never the same two days in a row. I feel it fools my body into burning more. It's worked for me. Just don't give up. You've come so far and sacrificed a lot by being banded. Good luck!

Is Soda Bad Once In A While?

It seems that some will always have a "trouble area" that will end up hurting in the end. The band is ONE tool. The other do's and don'ts are additional tools. IMHO, if the doc says don't then don't. Who are you hurting other than yourself if you don't follow their direction. The process of getting the band was long and hard. Post op was hard. Why jeapordize it all for a soda?

Protein Shakes Fill Me Up

I'm 2 1/2 years post banding and make protein shakes 3-4 times a week. I usually make way too much in the blender (still haven't figured out the right proportion of ingredients) i use onenof those Rubbermaid sippy cups for toddlers with the straw removed. Takes a good 45-60 mins for me to finish the one cup portion but They do fill me up. I take small sips, not more than 1 pull on the opening. Guess we're all different.

I Think I Need Some Kind Encouragment...

I'm 2 1/2 years post banding and I still track every day. Just like the band, it's another tool to help with my weight stabilization. Another thing I do still, is portion everything. I don't eat out of bags or containers; everything goes in a bowl or on a plate so I can see what it is I intend to put in my mouth. You'll get back to your weight loss. Don't lose hope. 35 lbs is wonderful! Be proud

Remind Me Again - Why No Liquids?

It is a very good question Smart, and as you can see, no set answer. I'm 28 months post surgery a d from my experience I cannot drink while I eat. I do drink a 6 oz glass of water prior to lunch and dinner and have a green tea 1/2 hour after dishes are done and clean up finished. If I did try to drink during my meal, whatever was in my pouch would turn into what felt like a all of food and inevitably I would end up vomiting. Only took a couple of times to realize I can't drink and eat at the same time I've learned to eat in a totally different way. My plate is a tea saucer, my meals and snacks are still weighed or portioned and put into small bowls, vessels; my fork is put down after every bite. Takes me a long time to eat but it's worked for me. Lost 158 lbs, had my exess skin removal surgery and am a totally different woman. Good Luck to you and do what works for you!
7. Hi Colleeb That feeling means your pouch is full! Stop eating.

June Bugs?

Hi fellow June Bugs. Found this one when I got an email for my 1 year anniversary. I'm down 92 lbs since surgery and am feeling wonderful but "saggy". LOL Looking forward to having some excess skin removed in anothercouple of months. I'm sure there's another 10 lbs or so hanging where it shouldn't be. I've lost steadily over the past year and even though I've been very disciplined in what I put past my lips and when, I have not exercised near enough. I just joined a Zumba class and hopefully can get time to get to the gym on a regular basis to firm up. I've 4 1/2 in a 10 m band. My secret is to portion everything onto my plate, never ever eat anything without preparing it ( weighing if needed, cutting, serving on a dish). I never eat out of a container nor anywhere other than at a table. Difficult at first but have I ever saved a lot of money with no fast food and no waste. Wish you all success'

Embarrassing Diarrhea Question

Soooo happy I saw this thread. I too thought something was wrong with me. I'm 4 days post-op and have had the runs so bad that it's caused hemmeroids. The gastrolite seems to help with the cramping but can't wait to be able to leave the house for more than an hour and not worry about having an accident. "]

Any June Bandsters???

Hi Everyone! I got banded on June 8 by Dr Davey in Edmonton Alberta Canada. Surgery went well; woke to the anaesthesiologist saying 'wakey, wakey'. Only drawback to surgery was a very dry throat from the breathing tube and was only allowed to suck on a water-soaked sponge. All has gone very well on my liquid diet - I am taking Protein powder shakes, Ensure, as well as clear Soups and lots of juices. My only side affect has been terrible, terrible cramping and diarrhoea - almost flu like but I don't feel nauseous. I've been drinking gastrolite to help with that before I go to bed. If it continues one more day, I'm going to see the doctor. Best of luck to you all! "]

Hello! 4 days post-op

I had my LAP-BAND® surgery on Tuesday June 8th. So far so good with the exception of having a terrible bout of diarrhoea and cramping yesterday. I guess my system just flushing out. So nice to see this support group because I'm going to need it!:frown:
