I had struggled with weight loss for many years, and after being married for 11 years and having 2 children, my weight had reached an all time high at 222 lbs. I had LapBand surgery in February 2008 and had a fantastic start. I was eating right and exercising everyday and the weight just melted off. I was losing 2 lbs a week until I reached a 50 lb weight loss. Then I started having problems with my band. My band was too tight and I was having excessive acid reflux. I lost another 20 lbs almost immediately. It was a few days before Christmas 2008 and I wasn't holding anything down, not even liquids. I got dehydrated and passed out. Since it was the holidays, I couldn't reach my doctor, so my husband took me to the local Immediate Care center, where they pumped me full of IV fluids. When I was able to see my doctor the following Monday, he removed most of my fluid and I started the process again. I gained some of my weight back, and a few short months later, started getting acid reflux again. An upper GI showed a minor slip. So he removed all the fluid and gave my stomach a few weeks for the slip to correct itself. It did, and he has now begun to fill my band again slowly. I am at about 3 cc now in a 10cc APL band and I am still having issues. I believe I have scar tissue around the band that is restricting my opening and causing excessive acid reflux. So this is where I am today. I have kept off about 50 lbs still, but not losing any more weight and probably looking at another surgery to replace the band.
