Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Angel Delight is a good one cause you can suck it. I lived on that in the first few weeks. Good luck to yourself and slinky and all the other new ones. My band is two months old now, can't wait for more fills....nothing much happening after the first one but I must be patient. Look after yourselves, wear loose clothes it will soon be back to normal xx

Thanks Freckles. You are a treasure. I was so worried about that. I know I am completely paranoid. I am so not normally like this. Its just I really want it to work and am struggling to eat what I should. I have just had a piece of victoria sandwich cake. I am not going to M&S Food again. Their cake is lush. Glad you are losing. Congrats xxx

What exactly is reflux? It sounds nasty. Why do you choke with it. Is it the saline coming back up? Still, can't wait for my 1st fill. Six days to go. I am paranoid now that I will make the pouch bigger as I can eat the same amount as before. Do you think I could make it stretch? I went to Marks and Spencer today, you should not go to the Food Hall ever!!! The temptation of M&S food is too great. Still managing to keep the lost stone off though must admit I am struggling. The only way I will do this is by not feeling hungry. I welcome that feeling of being full after only a small bit of food. Thanks - you have been so helpful xx

Thank you so much for replying Kerry. I think I have just been feeling a bit pathetic. I don't know if you felt like this but the time leading up to the band I felt so optimistic and initially after, with no appetite, felt a bit euphoric (even though there was a little discomfort). I think I have had a glimpse of how things were before and don't want to go back to it again. I have eaten healthily the last few days and still thinking about the exercise although I am always so tired when I get home that I can't be bothered to be honest. I hope you are well. Two stone is brilliant. Thanks again for replying. Jaynexx

Thanks very much Gary. I read your message yesterday and it helped me a lot. I have been feeling down but feel better now thanks to you and the others that replied. I take on board what you say, I need to get a grip and stop being so impatient. I need to find something to stop the need for the eating for comfort. I have my own busy and very hectic business with my husband. I employ very close friends and family only, which adds to the pressure. My relationship with my husband since starting the business has deteriorated. He is either at work or the pub and I am either at work, out with friends or home alone. I am in a difficult situation as any decisions I make will affect a lot of people close to me, and eat food to try to make things feel better. Anyway, I need to not use food as an emotional crutch. I always complain that I don't have much time for preparing food which is why I grab things that are unhealthy but I went to the supermarket and did what I always thought was being lazy and bought ready made salads and stir frys. I have been racking my brains to think about an exercise which I will enjoy. When I was in my early twenties (some twenty years ago) I became addicted to exercise. Now I can think of nothing worse. What do you do? I find that by the time I get home from work I am so tired I have no energy for exercise. Walking the dog is my limit. I read your later post. I hope the varicose vein op goes well and you soon get the right restriction back in your band. I can't seem to eat slowly. I try and then forget and find myself eating at the same speed I always did. Do you think that by eating nearly the same amount as before that I might have stretched the band? God I hope not. I am now 14 stone 2. I also went out and bought some new clothes yesterday. I am not expecting to be in them for long but needed to feel better about myself. I appreciated your message and do feel that you put out your hand to me. Thank you for that. Will keep you posted. Jaynex

Hi All:sad: I wonder if there is anybody out there that doesn't feel positive at the moment. I don't want to put worries in the minds of new bandsters but need some advice from others that have felt like me or feeling like me. I am feeling disillusioned and I am reading all the positive comments on this site and not relating to them at all at the moment. I think I must be niave. I believed that having this band would end all my problems with food. I had my band on the 6th June, the first few weeks I hardly ate anything and lost a stone in weight. All good. For the last two weeks I have wanted to eat everything and all the time. I seem to be able to consume the same amount of food that I did before. I gained 2 lb in weight last week. I feel ashamed of myself and need to get a grip. I know that has to come from me and nobody else can help with that. I am a terrible comfort eater. I know why this is but feel I don't want to share my reasons with the whole of LAP-BAND®.com at the moment. Please could somebody answer the following questions: Is it true that your first fill doesn't have much of a effect, that you need a couple before it will work? Can you request and pay for a double fill? I was banded by Dr Chris and going to Newport for my first fill on the 23rd of this month? What do they do when you go, do they give you the fill and send you on your way or do they talk to you about how you are feeling and give you much advice? Has anybody else backed this up with some type of therapy? And if so, did it help? I have eaten everything I ate before except fresh bread. Everything goes down okay and stays there but some things give me back the pain I had in my shoulder for the first few weeks? Is this a coincidence or do you think that this is my body telling me that this food does not suit me anymore? Any advice would be great. I have bought a few books but to be honest they havent been very good. Thanks in advance

  9. Sorry I forgot to say that I was nervous about giving him the money. You give it to him in your room and he does give you a receipt. It is absolutely fine but I know what your husband means. It seems dodgy having to give him cash but its okay honestly. You will be under no doubt that you are giving it to the right person and that it is fine to do so.

    Take care xx

  10. Hi Karen

Frederik will go through the whole thing with you and I can guarantee you will feel much better and more confident about the whole thing when you have seen him.

You will need to take a nightshirt or something, slippers and dressing gown which you will change into the day after the op.

They try to do the foreigners as early as possible to enable them longer to recover. After the operation they will give you sufficient pain relief so you won't be in very much pain at all.

You don't have to take your own painkillers they will supply you with enough till you get home.

Getting home was fine. I was a little uncomfortable (understandably) but it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be.

Please let me know how you get on. I can remember how I felt beforehand. I am glad I have done it.

    Take care

Please could somebody tell me how long the shoulder pain is likely to last. It has been two weeks now. Today, it was so painful at work that I was finding it hard to concentrate. Any suggestions of how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance xx
  12. Hi Karen

For some reason I cant see your message. I find this site really confusing to use to be honest and I work on computers all day.

Could you email directly to jayne.o-sullivan@sky.com.

Hopefully I will have more success reading it then.

How are you? This time two weeks ago was my last night pre banding. I am finding it fine but still have gas which causes pain to my shoulder.

I am hungry now and am looking at the old favourites wanting to eat them. Am going for my first fill on the 23rd July. That seems ages away.

    What stage are you at?

    Take care

    Jayne

Cankster - Thank you so much for the offer. I have an appointment in Newport at 11am on the 23rd but am happy to drive. I am coming from Swindon. If you want me to pick you up I am happy to do so on my way through. Is this your first fill?

Hi all So good to find people on here who were banded by Dr Chris De Bruyne in Belgium. I was banded last tuesday on the 8th June. I still feel a bit rough to be honest. My stomach still sounds a bit like a washing machine, I am not sure if I am hungry or if it is still gas. It doesnt feel right anyway - any ideas what it is? This is very isolating to be honest. My immediate family and a "thin" friend knows but nobody else. I am also wondering where to go for my first fill. I have the choice of Newport or London. I live in Wiltshire so either would suit. I am thinking it may be easier to get to Newport. Jaynex
