Anyone from NC?
saraannie replied to Quilter at Heart's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Stacey, I am using Southeast Bariatrics as well, my big day is next week. Feel free to contact me if you want. saraannie@bellsouth.net. Good luck with your progress Sara -
Day 5 of the preop diet . I am sooooo sick of soup with no substance in it. I am staying satsified, but I miss chewing. Been adding ice to my shakes to give it more texture, (and the splash of Kalula doesn't hurt ). I know why and I know I can get through it, but I would give my kingdom for a piece of meat. Just need to vent

Anyone from NC?
saraannie replied to Quilter at Heart's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Third day on liquids and not doing too bad. I have been drinking lots and lots of Water, and keeping busy. There have been a few times when I have wanted to gnaw my own arm off, but other than that it is going well. I just need to find more liquid options. Hope all is going well with your progress. Sara -

HelloI am from Charlotte and am having my surgery on Jan 20th. Super nervous and excited at the same time. I start my preop diet next Thursday, so for the next 4 days I am eating all my favs, it will be awhile until I can have solid foods. Good luck with the seminar. -
January 2011 Bandsters....??
saraannie replied to blondeej's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am January 20th. I start my pre-op diet on the 6th, I am so excited!!! -
I have finished all my test and submitted all my paperwork as of Sept 10, and found out that my doctor's office has not submitted my paperwork to the insurance company yet. UGH...REALLY? MY insurance company did not even require half the tests that the surgeon did. Not feeling the love. I have been told that it can take up to 4 weeks to get approved and that my surgeon is booked out 4-6 weeks. That puts the big day in December....I work retail so December is out of the question. Any suggestions on how to light a fire under the doctors office? Now that I have done everything required, why shouldn't they be obligated to get my paperwork in a timely manner? Just needed to vent.

Newbee...considering the band
saraannie replied to happygirl65's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow, I am surprised that your doctor responded like that. When I ask my PCP, she was very informative and said she would forward test on to the clinic, I also have a friend who is a physician, she was happy for me and told me that she thought I would succeed. The bariatric practice I choose has a strict program that you have to complete before being considered for the procedure. Seminars, classes, tests, even had to attend a support group before my paperwork was submitted. I looked at all the pros and cons and decided that I was ready to take charge of my life and not let food rule my life. Take your time attend some classes, maybe attend a support group, get all the facts. Most of all dump your Doc, they don't seem to be very supportive. Best wishes to you and your decisions. -
too little food
saraannie replied to Awkward customer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only reason the docs are pushing so much Protein, is because it helps build lean tissue that burns the fat. I would be more concern about your calorie count. It seems that a 1000 cal/day would be a small amount for a 330 man, you may have tricked your body into starvation mode. At my meeting with the nutritionist she recommended I eat 1200-1400 calories/per day,( I weigh 237) because my metabolism is on the high side, and because I only have 1 kidney, she told me to keep my protein in the normal range of 45-50 grams. If you are nervous about dense protein, put it in a food processor and grind it up a little, not sure if I could go with out meat. BEEF it's what's for dinner!! Talk with your doc, or a nutritionist see what they have to say. DUDE eat your potatoes and enjoy them.:tt1: Good luck. -
Hi all, My name is Sara and I live in NC, and work for TJMaxx, I have completed all my requirements for surgery and am waiting on approval. I getting super anxious and really really REALLY want to have it done before Nov, (we go into "blackout" basically no time off approved). How long is the recovery period? Does anyone who has had the LAP-BAND® and works in retail have any advice? Is this something I can do during the holiday season?

Thanks everyone for their input, I have come to the conclusion that I will have the surgery no matter what week it is. I am sure that my manager could come up with reasons for me not to be out in Jan/Feb, or whenever. As far as the pain, I am not concerned and the gas should not be too big of a problem, as I will be walking alot,. I have been an assistant for 5 years now, and have never been out. Plus, I can't let my job rule my life. As for feeling weak, I have to do a 2 week liquid diet, so I will already have pushed through that phase. Lord help my associates and customers during those weeks.:tt1: I will be surrounded by associates, so I really don't have to do any lifting...All I have to do is delegate..LOL!!. I am crossing my fingers that I can get on the schedule by the end of October. I'll keep you all posted on my ongoing saga. Thanks for the help!! Sara

I have my first set of consults tomorrow, nervous about it, and not sure why. The clinic I have chosen is a one stop shop kinda thing. I have all my appointments already made and the final one(I hope) with the surgeon on Aug 11. I debated whether to tell people or not, for the most part, everyone seems to support me. Ok....so I am babbling. I know I'll have to give up some of the foods I like and may not be able to have the cold beer I so enjoy from time to time. Right now my biggest concern is that pre-op diet, I am quit the "bear" to be around when I am hungry. I work retail and will have to deal with customers and associates....How did you all cope with the grumpies... thanks for listenin' nevous norvis in Charlotte:blink:
