Looking for a great surgeon in the greater Charlotte, NC area.. Any suggestions?
saraannie replied to SumthinsGottaGive's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Usually the seminar is hosted by the surgeons office, but most are free, so I guess it is where ever you comfortable. Southeast Bariatrics is a little disorganized, but they give good after care. -

I am from Charlotte and i go to Southeast Bariatrics on Randolph, sometimes the office gets crazy, but they are very thorough, I do not have any issues. Dr. Vollinger is my surgeron, i had surgery on 1/20 and have lost 3 pant sizes and about 43 lbs. -

I can eat pizza, thin crust, I can even eat small amounts of bread.( a bite or 2), as for spagehetti, it is a no go for me, I can how ever eat, orzo, bowties and macaroni, you will have to experiment, I don't recommend doing it out to eat....you know just in case -

Grieving the death of popcorn...

No need to mourn the corn, you should be able to be reunited with your old friend as soon as you are on solids. -
You Doc is right...listen to your body. For me, by the end of week one I was venturing into mushies...mashed potatoes, cottage cheese and such, I ate SUUUPPPER SLOW and waited between each bite, I was fine, but i have always been a rebel . Still loosing and have no prob, my MD is happy with my progress. I decided when i started this new lifestyle, I was not going to be a slave to the rules and be on a DIET the rest of my life, I watch my portions, but I do not deny myself anything...unless it doesn't go down, but to each his own. Love me a burger and cold beer....Happy 4th to you

saraannie replied to J9harrison's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ain't it GRAND? I have yet to see the scale go up, but I only weigh myself once a week. Keep up the good work, you will be to goal in no time!!! -

So I am 5 months post op and have lost 40+ plus pounds, down three sizes. All sounds great, right? Super happy about my progress, even got off my lazy behind and joined a gym. ONE nagging item, I cannot eat chicken, not at all, none, zip zilch, nada. It is kinda annoying. Anyone else have this prob, or am I the only weird one? Sara

So, I finally bought some clothes that fit, (at old navy and tjmaxx) and all of a sudden I have been hearing my associates (I work at tjmaxx) describe me as tiny and skinny. What a fabu ego boost. I know, I am no where near tiny and skinny, but it is good to know I am on my way...or maybe they are buttering up the boss, either way I'll take it

I told quite a few folks and tell people who ask how i have lost so much weight. I know i made the right decision. I gave up caring what other people think of me. I have always been overweight, I did this for me and only me. When I am asked how my diet is going, I say great, but I am not on a diet, I am changing my lifestyle, I choose to have the band and I am using as a tool and not a crutch. My mom was very skeptical of me having it and thought this too, would be one of my fads, but every time I see her she comments on my weight loss. I am one of those bandsters that don't limit myself to what I can and cannot eat, if it goes down, then great, if not I move on to something else. I keep my calories counted and exercise daily. I am in this for the long haul, and if I am not losing fast enough for others, too bad, so sad.

I always seem to get that feeling when, I am eating with others around. Guess I am not focused on chewing etc..If I am out, I ask for a cup of hot tea to drink before I eat, seems to work. I would rather break the no drinking before rule than to slime after 2 bites.

THAT is SO GREAT, Congrats!!!!! -
I have had to do the same thing, I like Old Navy and TJMaxx ( I work there) but I suppose Marshalls would work too. I found some($79) Talbot's pants for 16.99 at the Maxx. It makes it easier to buy, knowing that there will be more new clothes in future

I am only able to eat iceburg, nothing else. Have tried cutting into little pieces and chewing, chewing, chewing....then bam....big time stuck. Try it, that the only way you will find out. Good luck!!!

It is an awesome feeling, I just got there myself. I work at TJMaxx so I can get first pick. CONGRATS!!!!! -
Can hardly stand myself.....I am so excited !!! For the first time in over 10 years, I bought a pair of dress pants that did NOT have a W beside the number and did NOT come form Lane Bryant. TJMaxx size 16...$16.99. Well on my way to Onederland. PS....and a top from the junior dept....size large. This thing really works!!!!

Hey, I am from Charlotte too, who is your surgeon? Mine is Dr Vollinger at Southeast Bariatrics. I was at the hospital at 5:30 am, had a 7am slot. I was home and in my own bed by 1pm. No complications Good luck with your journey, no regrets here. Sara -
Rachel, You have normal feelings, we all had the same. I was supposed to be on liquids for 2 wks as well, and I graduated my self on to mushies and softies as I could tolerate. I have had some restriction the whole time. (I started with 5cc in a 10 cc band). So far, I have 30 lbs ( banded 1/20). Listen to your body, if you are hungry, than eat, the band isn't supposed to bring misery, it is there to help, if we were perfect, we would all be a size 2. will do great, use your Drs. orders as a guideline, but listen to your body. Good luck, skinny girl, you will do great!!! Sara
