I guess I am different. I have no problems telling people about my band to sleeve journey. When I had the band they understood why I was throwing up and not speculating if I had an eating disorder. Quite frankly, I don't care who judges me, I did this for my health, no one else. Plus I have great friends and family who are supportive. Good luck.

How much time to take off?
saraannie replied to Heather Feather's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I work retail and taking 6 weeks, we wanted to make sure I was healed and was on solid food. I don't usually work an 8 day, more like 10hours. Being a manager I may not have someone to help with the heavy items either. I guess it just depends. I am in week 4 I feel good but don't always feel that I am getting all my nutrition. Good luck -
Band to sleeve in one surgery. Who's had it done that way? How long had you had your band? What was your recovery like? Any complications? Regrets?

Just had mine done together 3 weeks ago, the first 2 days were rough because of scarring, but all is going well. -
I have had great restriction for the past 6-8 weeks and have been losing steadily. The past couple of days, I have been able to eat things that normally make me full in one or two bites. My dog did pounce on me the other day . Is it possible that I have sprung a leak. I have an appt. on the 29th. I wonder if i should try to get in before then. Anyone else have this problem?

Got told by my coworkers, that I looked "slammin" in my size LARGE dress yesterday. This time last year it was a 2x. Ring size is down from a 7 3/4 to a 6. Also had 2 teenage Wendy's workers, come to the drive thru to check me out....I am old enough to be their mother. Best ego boost!! -
I have drank with meals before, a lot times it causes my to feel "stuck". I now only do it in extreme cases, temp of food, or if it is too spicey. Good luck

I do not regret having the band put in, BUT sometimes I miss food. A well cooked filet migon, a big mac, mac and cheese. peanut butter and jelly sandwich, with an iced cold glass of milk, chicken tenders, shrimp. I can still eat some of these, but I do not seem to enjoy them as much, or can finish them. I have found some new foods like, Ahi tuna, hummus, chickpeas, scallops. Just needed to share. On the up side I am under 200 for the first time in a coon's age.

Sounds like you got the Sugery 'blues". It won't be long and the weight will come off, you are less the a month post op, prolly still some swelling , and if it is your TOM, well you know. Give it some time. I have only lost 50 lb in 9 months, but have lost 40". Chin up, it gets better. PS, I don't count calories or carbs, I am choosing to eat normally and not be on a diet.

Yes and no, I can eat a tuna, but it has to have oil and vinegar. I can also eat meatball subs, very small bites. I can usually split the 6" in two, and have 2 meals out of it, cost effective. deli meats on bread sometimes give me a hard time. All you can do is try. It's kinda fun trying to figure out what works....note it you are out on a fancy date, stick with the Soup

Bread: only if I tear it into small bites and only a few. celery: no way, no how...too stringy, tried twice and got stuck both times pizza: yes thin crust only with just a few toppings, and chew chew chew. (1 piece, instead of the whole pie) flour tortillas, only with small bites same with anything breaded, so most of the time it is not worth my effort. Good luck, try different things. I am still experimenting and learning the no-nos. I do not stick to a strict diet (I hate that word...have ALWAYS failed). I try things, if they work, I have a bite or two and I am usually full. Good luck on FRIDAY!!!

Would you get the band if you had a chance have a "do over"
saraannie replied to Jim1967's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I MADE the right decision. I know I did. April 2010, I went to the MD for a refill my hypertension meds, begrudgingly got on the scale, I nearly passed out when it said 246....What? that can't be right? 246 pounds....gulp. I hate diets, nothing keeps me accountable, I would lose 20-25lbs, get bored, cheat, then throw my hands up. I did a ton of research, did not tell a sole until decided what I was going to do. I looked up surgeons and signed up for a seminar. Turned in my paperwork, and waited for approval. On Jan 20, 2010 my life had changed, I went under the knife.....gulp again. Now don't get me wrong, is this easy? HELL NO! I have had moments of What did I do to myself?, Man I want a Big Mac, fries and a shake. But I work through the craving, split dinners with friends and family when I eat out. So far I have lost 47lbs and a total of 37.2 inches....HELL YEAH! I choose a bariatric practice that is one stop shopping. I have a fitness coach, a nutritionist, a social worker. I have had my metabolic rate check and they figured out how many cals/day I need, based on my metabolism/activity. Once I heard that I could eat up 1800/day (Oddly enough, I have a very high metabolism and work retail) I was like, I can do this. I read that most people ate 800/1000 cals/day. No way could i have the willpower to do that. My weight loss has been slow, but STEADY, Have not backslid at all. I do make better decisions with my food, but pretty much eat what I want (as long is it goes down) My advice to you is do your research, make sure you have a great support system (medical and personal). Best of luck to you. PS ....I love my band!!! -
Looking for some non-judgmental feedback
saraannie replied to Sassy Pants's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No judging here...I ate soup with rice on day 3...it did not go well for me, came right back up. You must have CHEWED the heck out that pizza to get it to stay down....good for you. I do not stick to any so called "diet" I eat pretty much anything that will stay with me, I experiment all the time...Am I eating Big Macs....well no that would be silly, but I have enjoyed a hamburger. So far I have lost 43 lbs, and 37.2 inches. Remember chewing is the key. My only advice is chew chew chew! -
Help!! Addicted to shopping
saraannie replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always been a clothes horse, now that I am down 37.2 total inches, and work for TJMaxx I am buying something just about every week. Mostly tops, but bottoms are needed really soon. TJ's got some really good clearance deals, check em out. I am also buying a TON of accesories. I think I need an intervention -
Ok. so I have a summer cold, no big deal, my head and chest are congested, normal right? So I took a mucinex, like i have done before (pre-band) to loose up the crud. OMG!!!!! I had eaten about an hour before, small turkey and cheese wrap(never been stuck on that). I had to cough, (again normal with a cold), when I did I projectiled slime, and what was left of my wrap, totally gross, and for the next 4 hours, I could only sip hot tea and had a hard time keeping that down. Everything is fine now, just ate a hard boiled egg and no probs. Anyone else had this happen, it was pretty scary. No more mucenix for me just wanted to share and warn, as cold season is on the way.

I too am short 25" inseam, I go to Old Navy, I buy them tight and lose into them. I also shop at TJMaxx, and if the are too long, I just cut them off at the length I want and let them fray, I like starting my own trends

I have, what I call a hic-urp, hicup/burp. I take as an indication that things are moving, kinda like a swish.

Keeping Lap Band a Secret
saraannie replied to cyndiebear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am right there with ya, I have told the truth, once someone notices and ask how, I tell them. Most of the time I get positive responses, and for those who give me grief...WELL.....POO on them, I did this for me and my health. All of my family and friends have been very supportive. I have no secrets. Good Luck to everyone -
Too funny,I did the same thing when I felt my pelvic bones protrude while laying down....Feels Good doesn't it

Can someone tell me WHEN i will be able to drink a reasonable amount of liquid
saraannie replied to ButterflyM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to drink normally my second day, only did the medicine cup for first day. I drank slowly of course. I am from the south and we always have a glass of something around. I was told to not let myself get dehydrated, I was also able to drink gatorade G2 to keep my electrolyes balanced. Good luck
