  3. 1 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary younghippiechick!

  4. Does anyone know how to get yourself off of a thread that you've subscribed to? I'm such a dork.
  5. Highlow, I just find it so strange that I have been picking wedgies outta my butt my entire life and now everyone wears thongs. Sorry, too old and butt ugly (no pun intended) to wear a thong. Defeats the whole non-wedgie purpose!

September 14th - Starting My Journey

Hi! I was banded on Sept 14th, 2010 and then re-banded on Friday, September the 17th. I had swelling of the esophagus and it was spasming. The pain was significant. I'm okay now. I'd love to keep in touch with you to see how it goes from time to time!
  7. I was banded on Tuesday the 14th of September. I had to go back and be rebanded on Friday the 17th of September. My esophagus became irritated and was spasming. The pain was significant. Two days after the rebanding, I am running a low grade fever (100-101) and am taking it a lot easier than I thought I expected to be. My hope is undaunted and it's really easy to follow the post op diet because of the good, healthy fear I have of having to go back and be rebanded yet again. I'd love to hear and share stories with those of us who were banded on the same day! 9/14/2010 - 278 (two week pre op diet) 9/17/2010 - 285 (bloating from surgery gas weight, I think) 9/20/2010 - 278 (going down...yay!)

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet

Yep, I cheated once. The day before the magnesium citrate flush, I went out and got Mexican food. I planned it, I did it, I don't regret it. I'm certain that I am not terminally unique. I didn't need to cheat with chocolate, because I got all my chocolate fixes with the stuff I could have on the pre band surgery diet!

    Losing friends

The letter to your friends was unfortunate. This passive/aggressive letter stood to inform them of your anger and disappointment in them. Who wants to be a friend to someone who shames them because they do not give enough attention to you? Your self absorption discludes any kind of same "shared experience" with you. Please count how many times you used the word "I" in your letter. This journey that you are on is to find out who the real "you" is. This is your journey, not theirs. If you look, you will see that your self-absorption does not allow your friends any room to even want to give of themselves to you, because you are aggressively demanding it from them. Taking hostages is not the same thing as making friends. Be of service to them and they will be happy to reciprocate. Friends are not something that you "deserve", rather, they are people to whom you give of yourself. The main point is: Stop talking about yourself all the time. If you do a self inventory, you will find that you talk about yourself a lot and play the victim. I think you are probably in your 20's. It is a very self absorbed age. It is up to you to be someone lovable that people want to have around. Care about your friends. Don't just expect them to love you. Love is an action and a choice.
  10. My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 14th.

On the road of happy destiny

I started this journey in March, 2010. I have been to 3 nutrition meetings and one support group meeting, which was what my insurance needed in order to go forward. Had my psych eval back in May. Unfortunately, after that, my paperwork accidentally sat on someone's desk for 6 weeks before anyone noticed. They pushed through my authorization in 2 days after that. The bummer is, I was hoping to have the surgery in August. I start school on the 30th, so there is no way I can do it prior to December now. It totally sucks.
  12. Jack,

I'm Sue. In A.A., sober 14 years. I don't see anyone posting recently about sobriety and lap band. Think you could hand me some good, orderly direction? Think it's a good idea to try to find someone like a sponsor, like Lap Band Anonymous? Do you have anyone in mind? Perhaps YOU? Heh. Heh.
