Abnormal EKG results
EndlsDremer replied to Bella67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My EKG was abnormal as well. PCP sent me in for a Nuclear stress test (which isn't bad at all) and everything was fine, surgery is on Friday! The cardiologist said females are more prone to abnormal EKG's which are actually normal for them. If you aren't having any chest pain, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Good luck! -
December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
EndlsDremer replied to chocolatecity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
APPROVED FOR SURGERY! Date is set for Dec 17th... definitely an early Christmas present. However, I am so SO soooo nervous! I probably would have had this surgery 2 years ago had it not been for my nerves. My advise to others: I was annoyed when I found out I had to do a 6 month 'supervised diet' once I decided I was ready to get the band, but it REALLY DOES go by so fast. Take the time to learn as MUCH as you can before surgery. Good luck to all of the December bandsters! -
I'm on month 4 of my 6th month supervised diet. I really think it depends on your insurance company, what your starting weight/BMI is, health problems, etc... I haven't lost any weight, I've actually gained 6 pounds in 4 months, and I was really worried when I met with the surgeon, but neither the surgeon or my PCP seem worried about the gain. My BMI is over 40, and I have health issues... My surgeon did mention something about my insurance company being one of the easier ones to be accepted by though... BCBS PPO of PA. In any case, it's always better to lose a little weight and be as healthy as you can for surgery... easily said!

Dr. Carol Mccloskey - Reviews for Dr McCloskey please?
EndlsDremer posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi everyone, Surprised to see that I'm not finding very many reviews online for Dr. Mccloskey... I was referred to her by my PCP and attended her seminar. I'm only on month 2 of my 6th month diet, and I have the surgeon consult in August, so I haven't formally met her yet. Can anyone provide reviews/experiences? Thanks! -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
EndlsDremer replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry, I know this was posted a year ago, but I just had to comment! This is something I worry about every now and then... I'm afraid that once I start loosing the weight, and people tell me that I look good, or better, or pretty, that I might be offended and wonder, was I ugly before? -
i think i officially had my first real PB...yuck!
EndlsDremer replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All of that scares me so much! I hope this isn't something that will happen often. (As long as I am following the rules best I can) -
Did anyone cheat on the pre -op diet

Did anyone cheat on the pre -op diet
EndlsDremer replied to TRACIENEW1217's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Tracie, welcome. I haven't started a liquid diet yet... but I completely understand the headaches... most of the time when I start ANY diet I end up with a headache. Do the Protein shakes have sugar in them? Are you allowed to add a little bit of sugar to some of your drinks? Maybe you are going through withdrawl??!? And it might be best to ease into it... Maybe someone who has been through this already can help more! Just my thought... And btw, WE AREN'T ALL SO RUDE IN HERE.... (Hope that didn't bother your eyes...) Let me know what ends up helping with the headaches... I am anticipating the same... Good luck! -
I'm Baaaaaaaaak!!!!!!!!!
EndlsDremer replied to HAL380's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is soooo true! I'm still 4-5 months from surgery and I read EVERYTHING I can find on the actual surgery day. I'm probably more anxious than most ... But yes, some people do scare me even more! And I'm already making a list of "supplies"... wonder if I should start cutting it down a bit. -
 Yikes...

I agree. Can someone please explain what each of these are? Making me nervous and not something I'm looking forward to!

Embarrassing Situation
EndlsDremer replied to mizofatso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed. 160! That is my goal weight! How did you get approved for the lapband if you don't mind me asking? About your chest situation... many women who are large breasted before weight loss end up needing a breast lift (only if they personally feel the need to!) I would assume the same for men. :bored: -
Anyone have their Gall Bladder out with a band?
EndlsDremer replied to outside*looking*in's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi- I am pre-band as well, just starting my 6 month journey...surgery in December. I was diagnosed with Gallstones about 2 years ago after a HORRIBLE and frightening attack. Since weight loss can cause an increase in attacks :smile2:, does anyone know if they will remove the gallbladder during the Lapband surgery? Thanks! -

EndlsDremer replied to MrsShannonDennis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! You are so inspiring to people like ME who are just NOW starting the process! -
Teach724- How long was the process for you? I have BCBS in PA.. I'm just attending a seminar this Thursday and hope to get the ball rolling SOON. I'm a student and trying to get a surgery date by mid-August. Realistic? If not I'll have to wait until winter break! Thanks!

Hi everyone, This is my first time on this site, and I'm not even sure if I'm posting a question in the right area! Over the past few weeks I have SERIOUISLY been considering the LAP-BAND® surgery. I feel like once I decided I've had ENOUGH being extremely overweight, this surgery and new way of life is all I can think about! I've been reading up on any information I can find over the past few weeks, however I can not find a definite answer to one important question I have. I was diagonised with Graves Disease, (hyperthyroidism) about six months ago. (I'm one of the lucky 5% that GAINS weight...) I'm taking thyroid medication right now. Also, I was lucky enough to finally confirm I have PCOS. No excuses... but obviously it is extremely hard for me to lose weight! I'm nervous I won't be approved for the LAP-BAND® since I have a Thyroid disease, which is technically autoimmune. Was/is anyone out there in the same boat as me? ANY information or guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Marie

I've been using drug treatment for the past 6 months, still trying to figure out the right dosage. Would like to do all I can to prevent becoming hypothyroid for now.... Thank you guys for the responses!
