Jessica...stay the course darlin'. I had gained 3 pounds the week prior to my second fill. I came to my favorite girls here in my favorite thread and got the encouragement I needed to "hold fast" and see my Dr. I had my second fill and like Shellybeans (good job Shelly!) I not only am rejuvinated but I've lost that 3 pounds and am feeling confident going into the big day full of all those yummy treats. Old Jimboss is sending all my LBT Angels a big Christmas Hug! With each others support we are all going to win this fight!

I get the same thing. I think sometimes friends and family think that everytime I see them, they'll see less of me. One particular person asked me if my banding wasn't working. I asked why and he told me that it didn't look like I had lost anything since yesterday! Geez......... I guess I didn't know that this was a magic cure and the weight would disappear overnight! LOL. But, God Bless them. I reckon their intentions are good even if they don't understand.

Such an honor! I'm officially one of the October Girls! So cool! Old Jimboss loves you all! On a note not concerning "lap band" issues.... I got to play Santa Clause last night at my daughters day care. My daughter runs a day care and asked me to be Santa for their Christmas party. I donned my Santa suit and I think I had as much fun as the kids! I was even able to talk a couple of Mom's to sit on Santa's lap! Whew. Of course my daughter had a lot of delicious food items there but Old Santa was able to stay away from everything. After getting "tightened" a couple of days ago, I had no desire at all. Cool huh? Hey, Merry Christmas to you all and may God Bless..........Hugs, Jimboss

Well girls, I took y'alls advice and seen my Dr. He gave me my second fill yesterday. What a difference! For awhile I thought my band had quit on me! Hell, I even had gained 3 pounds (bummer). After the fill, it was back to normal. I actually got that dreaded choke and gag. That feeling where you think your esophagus is going to explode? Whew. So hopefully I will be able to make that christmas challenge I made to myself and proclaimed on here with so many others of losing 10lbs by Christmas! Lord....6 lbs to go and only 10 days! I don't know about that! But I'm going to give it my all!

When does no drinking during/after meals start?
Jimboss replied to mypov's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can answer what my Dr told me. He said not to drink 1/2 hour before eating and 1 hour after. Myself, I started doing that after week one of a liquid diet. And it was a whole lot harder to do than I figured. I was so used to drinking at every meal. And I still struggle sometimes. I won't wait the whole time period but I do my best. I guess you should call your Dr's nurse and ask her for sure. Good luck!..............Jimboss -
LOL. Good one Mystique! On the other hand, being able to lay in the sunbed on your belly without rolling off................Geez

Being able to make mad passionate love to your woman (in some cases your man) without putting them in traction............whew.

I for one think that is a great idea! I'd love to see and visit with other SD bandsters..........Jimboss

Well ladies, I took y'alls advice and I have an appointment today at 1PM. I expect another fill (my second). It's strange. I don't know any of you but I'm finding that I watch October bandsters religiously. I do appreciate all that I see you girls say. Even though I got slammed earlier in the game for being a guy in a gals world. I am finding out here that it is our world. I wish I could give you all a big old bear hug! I'm excited about my appointment today. I need to stay positive about this journey. I know there will be more set backs but I also know, with y'alls support and my determination.....I'm going to win. I love you all! ...........Jimboss

Ahhhh the munchies. Whew. The munchies are the biggest reason I am here I think. No No No No I don't smoke it no more, I'm tired of waking up on the floor. No thank you please it only makes me sneeze, and then it makes it hard to find the door (Ringo Starr). But I do miss it at times.........sigh -
Hey girls, I was banded Oct 2nd with my first fill Nov 10th. Up until my first fill I was doing pretty good. I got my first fill and since, I've been hungry all the time. I keep thinking it is in my head but hell, I don't know. My weight loss has slowed down considerably also. I have to fight for every pound right now. I've had my ass jumped a few times by the ladies here because I think they think I don't belong. I don't want to offend anyone, I just need help like y'all do. So if anyone has any thoughts, let me know! Maybe I should get ahold of my surgeon? I don't have a scheduled appointment with him until this coming February. Thanks...........Jimboss

Wow, you make an old pirate week at the knee's! Great job. -
Don't let your feet get cold Suzy! My goodness! Read posts on this site. 99% of the folks here are losing weight! And you will too! I guarantee you! I've been a big man all of my life and I was resolved to the fact that I was going to die before my time because of it. But my banding has given me a new outlook on life! I am happy with myself for the first time in many many years. And you will be also. So you are from Sioux Falls? Who is doing your surgery?

Hey Suzy, Congratulations! It looks like you'll be having your banding done tomorrow. You should be excited, I know I was. I was also a little nervous but then I think anytime you go under for an operation, being nervous is part of it. I was banded on Oct 2nd and it is the best decision I have ever made in my life. I've lost about 40 pounds so far. Already, my body is changing. Sometime I don't see it in the mirror but I know it is happening. Geez, I can actually tie my own shoes! LOL. Good luck Suzy, maybe we can keep or get this SD group more active?......Jim

Geez Gurls! I think I found my favorite new thread! Spit, Swallow, Gargle...Whew. -
Thank you all for your replies and words of encouragement. Sometimes things just get to me a little and I need a little prodding to keep me focused. When I got banded (Oct 2nd) I also quit tobacco. For those of you who have done that...you know the emotional ups and downs that you can encounter! If I had to guess or imagine what PMS was like, I'd say that quiting tobacco would come close. LOL. So, I have no vices! Food as I knew it is history, Tobacco is not in my life anymore, Sex has been non-existant for the last two years, and I quit drinking alcohol several years ago! But...I think I have a thing for sugar free popsickles now. I do at least a half dozen a day! Hopefully that is one vice that can't be or won't be taken away from me. Hey, I appreciate this web site and I really appreciate the support and encouragement I get here. I'm "hell bent" on losing that 10# by Christmas! Nothing will stand in my way....not even me. Hugs to you all..........Jimboss

I'm hoping to lose an additional 10 pounds by Christmas as are most of y'all. But it seems I've hit that "bump" in the road. I was banded Oct 2nd and my first fill was Nov 10th. Since my fill I have actually gained 2 pounds! Geez........ I really didn't expect that to happen! It seems that the first 30 pounds came off pretty easy. I guess now the work begins. But then having a spouse who supports me by making me feel guilty if I don't eat a snickers bar with her doesn't help. Plus the ice cream she keeps in the freezer (her comfort food). And the "baby, make me a dish of ice cream please?". Man, it's hard to do that task without sneaking a spoonful or two. I know to all of you it sounds like I'm whining. Maybe I am. But then maybe I'm looking for advice. Maybe I'm looking for support. I guess what I should do is basically do my program and not let her insecurities interfere with my success. Insecurities? Yes. She has many. Mostly she thinks that the only reason I had this banding done was to become more attractive to the opposite sex and then start running around on her. That is not the reason I had the banding done. I can't seem to convince her that I got the banding done so I can be healthier. And hopefully being healthier I can spend more years with her. Geez. I hate this. Ok, I'll stop pissing and moaning. Sorry to bother y'all. I just needed to vent.................Love you all, Jimboss

My nutritionist told me cheese was good for me. What I didn't realize is she meant "in moderation"! Bummer. No more melted cheddar on my ice cream! Geez................... Personally, I have a tough time with popsickles. I can go through 10-15 popsickles a day since my surgery. Sugar free of course. Got to keep a handle on my blood sugars! I am losing. Over 30 pounds now since Oct 2nd 2006. But I still get frustrated when I look in the mirror and see that same old fat man. Bummer again. But I will survive. I will see a change. I'm determined! Old Jimboss loves you all! jimboss01@yahoo.com

Texas Teacher, I'd like to also say, "don't give up!". I started my quest with my insurance company in July 05. I kept after them even after being denied several times. Finally, in Sept 06 they gave in and agreed. My banding was on Oct 02, 2006 (I figured I'd get it done before they changed their minds!). My weight at the end of Sept 06 was 324. Surgery date it was 319. Today I am at 288 and loving it! Don't give up Texas Teacher! Good luck and best wishes! jimboss01@yahoo.com

Wow, we have a lot of nurses here! Y'all could start your own "ask a nurse" business! Just don't charge too much! My insurance hasn't paid their part yet!
