For all of my October Bandster Angels.......HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am up a pound for the Valentines Day challenge but I'm not concerned just yet. I hope all of us have a prosperous and "losing" new year! Hugs to you all ~~Jimboss~~ PS...I'm freezing my butt off here in the frozen tundra!

Esmerelda, remember....you are the one in control. I know it's tough but we all had the band done for a specific reason. Remember those reason's you chose the band. And if you slip, don't beat yourself up. Just get back on the bandwagon...set a goal...and go for it! What you have gained will disappear and then some!

Hey, it's not me. It's y'all that motivate me!

Bottom Line.............I wasn't ready to die. I have too much to live for. Food had whipped my butt all of my life and I was fed up with it. I too have tried every weight loss gimmick on the market but to no avail. The Lap Band was the obvious choice for me. I don't feel like a slave to food anymore. I still enjoy most of what I used to enjoy just not as much of it. And the best part is, I don't feel hungry! I was nervous about getting the surgery at first. Afraid of the unknown I guess. But now that I've had it (Oct 2nd) and I've lost 40 pounds, I know that it was the best choice I have ever made (next to marrying my lovely bride 30 years ago of course!). I'm here to tell you Househuntress, it works! I am very happy with it. And I am very happy with the support that I get here at LBT! I call the girls in my favorite thread (October Bandsters) my Angels. Because they are. When I'm in need, they are there. I love them all. Good luck with your decision. And if you are asking me...go for it girl. ~~Jimboss~~

Hey Jules of T.W.U. If you type it big enough it WILL WORK! AS LONG AS YOU WANT IT TO! I've been exercising now since 3 weeks post surgery. I bought a treadmill and when I first started, I could only do 5 minutes for a total of approx 1/3 mile. Now I am up to 20 minutes daily and darned close to 1 mile. At first it was tough and I'm sure it will be for you also. Just stick with it! I now look forward to my treadmill time and when it is over with I feel so good...almost like a "high" feeling.

Naturally my name is Jim. My best girlfriend in Virginia had a friend named Jim also. As I was her husbands boss, she started calling me Jimboss as not to confuse her little girl about who she was speaking of when she mentioned "Jim". I'm originally from Virginia. Born in Georgia but raised in and around the Richmond Va area. My lovely bride and I moved to South Dakota in 1996 and have been here ever since. We do miss Virginia though. And we would go back but all of our kids are here as well as grandbabies, so it would be tough to abandon all of that. I am the Power Plant Manager with the South Dakota State Penitentiary.

Geez........I don't know if I have gone down a dress size or two. But I can tell you that I've gone down 4 inches in trouser size! I've got a long way to go but it's sure encouraging when I have to buy a new pair of jeans! Y'all keep up the good work! And when I do meet my overall weight goal, I promise I'll try on a dress just for y'all!!!! LOL.

Hey all. I hope Santa Claus was good to all of you. Santa wasn't that good to me, but Mrs. Santa sure made up for it! I agree with you ThreeBeauties....now is as good a time to start as any. And 15 pounds should be attainable. But whatever y'all decide, old Jimboss is in on it! Everyone have a SAFE one this New Year's Holiday! And by the way, this is the first time in my life that I relish being a "loser"! Whew!

Merry Christmas to all of my October Bandster Angels! I'm sure y'all had visions of sugar plums dancing in your heads last nite, and this morning you're sitting around the Christmas tree opening all those cool gifts! May you all have a wonderful and safe Christmas day! And by the way...I made my Christmas challenge! Whoopeeeeee! So what's the next challenge girls?

We had our Christmas party today at work. Whew. Turkey, Ham, Lil Smokies, Roast Pork, BBQ, Chili, Meat Balls, Veggie Tray, Cakes, Candies, Pies, and on and on. Geez...most I could do was look and remember the "good ole days". But I was proud of myself. I had a couple of meat balls and three or four of the lil smokies. No candies or other sweets. I think the big thing was that all the guys in the shop know that I had the banding done and were observing me. It sorta pissed me off that they were doing that but then maybe I shouldn't have told any of them. I just felt a little uneasy about the whole deal I guess. But bottom line.......this is my "program" and I am going to do it! I've had 53 years of over eating at functions like this and I don't need to anymore! And if they want to watch me, well f**k'em. Sorry about the pissing and moaning here girls. Sometimes I get frustrated with the people in my life that know of my banding. Hell, I'm proud of what I've done! Let'em watch me...right? I'm doing what I need to do. Several of them pushed stuff in my face but I politely refused (all the while thinking..."you assholes"). Oh well, tomorrow is another day. My daddy used to tell me..."Everyday is a Holiday, Every meal is a banquet, and Every payday is a fortune". Hmmmmm. Every meal is a banquet? LOL.

I have the same questions. I am working on the treadmill regularly and have notice legs/butt toning up, but what to do for the belly! Sit ups are out of the question right now. I can't even do one!

ThreeBeauties, Old Jimboss is smiling.............Gotta love life!

Hang in there KStar. You've undoubtedly heard it before..."we didn't get this way overnight". According to my Dr. after he administered my first fill, my stomach up to that point was still recovering from the surgery. He said that there was a certain amount of swelling and tenderness which kept me from eating bunches. He only gave me a 2cc fill in my 10cc band to see where that would take me. It seemed ok for a bit but then like everyone else I started to eat somewhat like I used to. I actually gained a couple of dreaded pounds. At the encouragement of my October Bandster Angels, I contacted my Dr and he pulled me in to get "tightened". He said that we want to gently ease it up to where we find that magical spot. He also said that in two weeks if I hadn't lost approx 4 pounds to give him a call and he'll "tighten" me again. So far, since my second fill...this is unbelievable to me but I have lost another 5 pounds in just a few days! I am actually only a pound or two from meeting the "Christmas Challenge"! I dare not say what my lovely bride offered me if I met the challenge...just use your imagination! So I am hell bent on making it to 282 pounds by Dec 25th. Hey, good luck to all my Angels here! Old Jimboss loves you all!

What in the hell is an "oryx"??????

I've noticed many of us have had "issues" between the first and second fills! I wonder if that is a common occurance? But whatever.....let's all keep up the good work! Thank goodness I have the October Bandsters!
