Pain pills that are opioid analgesics like codeine, vicodin, percocet, are hard on even normal sized stomachs! I always took mine with a little food or an 8oz glass of milk.

lost my appitite at 3 weeks out-so stressed out!
Brandalyn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a very emotionally stressful event happen on Thurs the 15th just before I went to work. I usually drink a Protein shake the first 2 hours I'm working followed by 2 hours of drinking 16-24oz of Water. Well, I tried to sip some water...it came back up. So, I waited an hour, same thing. I got very nauseated and everything was coming back up. I only work part time at night so I was back home within 4 hours and fell asleep. I woke up 6 hours later, and grabbed some water. Gagged and choked, but finally got some down. The entire day on Friday all I was able to get down was about 16oz of water and half a Protein Shake. Since then I can't seem to get back to my recommended intake. I'm dehydrated and almost pass out each time I stand up too fast, and I'm extremely weak cuz I am not getting my nutrition. I used to eat and eat and eat when I was stressed out, now, I can't eat a thing. Anyone else experience this? Suggestions? -

Constipation...and heartburn.. at 7 weeks?
Brandalyn replied to sarina55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd welcome some constipation at this point. 19 days post op and still having horrifying diarrhea. Heartburn only flares when I'm becoming dehydrated. -
Had civiche after 2 weeks, 4oz at a time over course of 45 minutes. Great lean protein

Trying to figure it out
Brandalyn replied to nursmate2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
in my opinion, and from what my nutritionist told me, eating too few calories per day will put your body into starvation mode. Sounds like you're doing great on the exercise kudos to you girl! I added sushi to my diet to help me get in more protein yum yum yum lol. don't be so hard on yourself sweetheart you're beautiful keep it up! -

What do you mix your protein with?
Brandalyn replied to Marisa1972's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never mixed mine with water, I used soy, almond and regular fat free milk with tons of ice. -
Post op food questions...
Brandalyn replied to Amy86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My advice is to not stock pile anything. Your tastes in food usually change dramatically after surgery. I had to get an unflavored medical whey protein isolate powder from my doctor because regular protein powder shakes made me gag. Your nutritionist will give you guidelines on what to eat and when. Listen to your body and good luck -

Puree to soft foods transition: Foods/recipes
Brandalyn replied to heynowkc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Adjust the recipe to the flavor you like. This is a basic recipe model I use and change all the time lol. Sometimes I want a lemon pepper flavor, or Dijon mustard with honey flavor, mostly I like plain fish flavor with a side of sour cream for dipping -

I'm kinda disappointed
Brandalyn replied to Gail Ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me NO exercise for 2 weeks, just walking arounf the house and light housework. Then weeks 2-4 aerobics only then 1 month check up prior to strength training. He wants me healed and fully adjusted to hydrating myself sufficiently and intaking no less than 60g protein per day. If I don't learn those key milestones, my weight is not the issue. I am. Be kind to yourself. I haven't weighed myself since the day of the surgery because my doctor taught me my first month is for healing, resting, learning, adjustment and LOVING myself. -
Follow the post op diet exactly

See your nutritionist regularly, discuss nutrition guidelines to go by. I don't put anything in my mouth that has more than 5g of sugar per serving, I feed my body protein 2-4oz (dep on meal/dep on day) every 3 hours. I also wait 30 min from end of meal to drink fluids. I add protein isolate to my drinks to boost me to 60+g/day. It's a chore but doable.

I find no joy in eating
Brandalyn replied to skinnybitchgoals's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, and I'm enjoying the honeymoon of respite from my obsession with food. One day at a time. We're in recovery from a lethal addiction. Each new day is a blessing. -
anyone else exhausted after eating?
Brandalyn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds nutty right? But almost immediately after eating I want to lie down and sleep! I did yesterday, for 3 hours! I had ate 3 oz of tuna salad and 15 minutes afterwards I passed out! Am I the only one? Any cures for this? -
So I'm 9 days post, pureed food. Made tuna salad with mayo, onion and dill relish, pureed. I live on this, refried beans, and plain scrambled eggs. Anyone have any input on recipes you're using or used to get thru this stage?

My nutrition seems off-balanced
Brandalyn replied to ready2livenow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to retrain your body to eat right. For years we've all been eating the wrong food at the wrong time for the wrong reason. I eat two to three ounces of food every 2.5 to 3 hours. We're like toddlers learning to feed our bodies the right way. try to find nectar it dissolves perfectly in everything and has no flavor it's an ISO protein and will give your body a lot of what you need without the flavor.skipping meals is the worst thing we can do now. Be sure you're feeding your body and you will start to feel better. Look for a copy of the book The emotional band aid kit. It's a bariatric Bible.
