    Lapband Fill And Ins Company

I'm surprised that people didn't know what the fills would cost. My surgeon told me like at my first consult I'd be paying $100 per fill. Now I didn't realize with the one and only one I've had it was on top of my $50 copay, but whatever.

    Going Back To Work

I'm on my feet 10 hour shifts too and went back 7 days post op with no problems. Although due to my schedule I only worked a day then had 2 more days off. But I would have been fine, I feel I could've gone back sooner and my job involves bending and lifting dogs. I limited the dogs to 25 lb til like 3 weeks post op then I gave no restriction
  3. I'm not sure of one geared towards diabetics, but you can change the settings in MFP to have it track different nutrients. So you can set it to track fats, carbs and sugars as well as 3 other nutrients.

    Soda....,

I had given up soda (only ever drank diet soda) for a couple months pre op and for like 8 months post op only having an occasional one. I started drinking it again and while I have no problem with it physically, I'm wondering if it is contributing to my plateau. So here I am giving it up again and for some reason it seems to be harder this time, but I'm on day 3 now.
  5. If it is being done at a teaching hospital, maybe the "assistant" may do part of the procedure. Depends if it is an intern or a resident. I work at a veterinary hospital and at least in that field, the interns don't really get to do procedures, just assist, with closing or hold a retractor or stuff like that. If it is a resident, then they may be doing the procedure or just helping out. I've never seen a laproscopic procedure done (only open ones), but a surgeon only has 2 hands, so they may not even be able to hold all the instruments at once.

    Metabolism...

I doubt it is your metabolism. My vote is for the sugar free stuff. My brother in law is diabetic and even he says he can't eat to much of the sugar free stuff as it screws up his GI system.
  7. To me that makes no sense, that the barium is coming back up your throat an he said it's not reflux. How can there still be swelling when it appears you had your surgery in 2010. I had a hiatal hernia repair too and have not had reflux since. I did have some heartburn shortly after surgery, but not since. I think you should get a second opinion and probably take some prilosec or pepcid.
  8. They gave me a list of recommended protein drinks and Bariatric Advantage was on that list, I ordered some samples and tried one and wanted to vomit. I also ordered their bariatric vitamins and couldn't stomach the taste. The thing with protein drinks that I've seen is everyone has a different taste and you may love one that someone else hates. So you really have to try different ones to see which one you like. On my pre and post op diets I loved the Unjury brand (still do, but don't really use it anymore). I also got Premeir Proting now from Costco which I love. I think you need to talk to your doc about trying a different brand. As for having to buy it from him, he's probably just trying to make more money unfortunately.

    Day 2Post Op Concerns

I told my doc I took gummy vitamins and he said wait 5 days prior to resuming them.

What To Do W/ My Pets?

I have 2 dogs and my younger one likes to jump on me, but I had no problem taking care of them. Sure he jumped on my abdomen once or twice, but I managed. I really don't think you need to board your dog. I live alone, and my mom brought me hem from the hospital, and I asked her to walk them when we got home, but after she left a few hours later, I took them out and took care of them.
  11. I happen to like the chocolate. But everyone's taste is different. Some people swear by the Bariatric advantage I wanted to vomit drinking them. I don't think the premeir protein tastes like chocolate milk though. I also lime unjury and I think their chocolate tastes like chocolate milk when made with milk

    Weird Pain......

How far post op are you? It seems some banded people get it forever post banding. Basically the band rubbing on a nerve or the diaphragm (I forget which), that gives you referred pain to your shoulder. There was one woman on here who had her band removed due to the chronic pain.
  13. I started off a 44DD, now down to a 36D. Unfrotunately my breasts went from saggy DD, to saggy and flat D's. Which I think actually without the skin, I might even be a C cup. I've always wanted a lift and a reduction. Now I don't need the reduction, but I'm still wanting a lift eventually. I'm hoping that when the time comes, I can afford to have the extra skin around my waist removed and my boobs lifted. I'm not sure if I'll go for a full TT, because honestly I doubt I could afford it, and I have no plans to ever wear a bikini, I just want the skin gone.
  14. I have a chocolate premier protein drink every morning. I'm not one to eat breakfast anymore. I workout in the morning and feel sick if I have food in my stomach. The taste was ok at first, but now I've grown to really like it.
  15. If you can't eat anything at all, you need to have your band out like now. Losing 29 lb in one week is not healthy at all! Most of that will not even have been fat, losing that quick you are no doubt losing muscle.
  16. You lose weight with hcg purely from the 500 calorie diet restriction, which is extremely unhealthy. It is a total scam.
  17. You probably also have a hiatal hernia. A lot of the members here had one that was repaired during surgery. I used to have reflux and heart burn, and honestly I never really thought about it, I actually assumed it was a normal thing to have reflux. I mean it wasn't nearly every day or very often at all. I had a hiatal hernia that wa repaired during surgery and besides having 3 days of heart burn shortly after surgery, I have not had any since.
  18. Honestly I think I'm already smaller than I was when I graduated high school. I started gaining I think during my last 2 years in high school. So I'm really not sure what I'll look like. Right now, my goal is 135 (which is right at the high end of a "normal" BMI.) I'm not sure what size that will make me. I'm in a size 12 jeans now. My tops are mediums. I've been working on body fat right now, since the scale doesn't want to play nice, so I think I'm getting more tone and maybe some muscle, so I'm not sure how that will effect things.

    Carbs - Yes Or No?

I was doing low carb, and my trainer told me this too. She was like where are your carbs? She recommends low GI carbs, 3 grams of Fiber or more. Also she says no carbs within 2 hours before working out and no carbs within 3-4 hours of going to bed.

    Dizziness/fatigue

I mentioned in another thread of yours if you can't get liquids down comfortably. Call your doc and see if there is fluid in your band. You're going to become dehydrated if you aren't already and if you're lightheaded you probably are. This is nothing to mess with. You say you are 7 days post op, you should be able to drink fine.

    Reversal?

You may want to find out if there is any saline in you band. If there is get it removed so you have time to heal and be more comfortable.

    Bmi Too High...

I had a one week liquid diet and lost 9.8 lb (or 9 point something, can't remember exactly). I had been going to the gym, but I did not exercise during that week.
  23. Erosion has nothing to do with the port. The port is sutured to your muscle, I believe outside your abdominal cavity, nowhere near your stomach.
  24. No, I do not think her death was directly related to her band. I can't think of a way the band slipping would cause seizures, nor can I believe that her band was strangling her lungs either. The chest and abdominal cavity are separated by the diaphragm. I know it's not that thick of a membrane, but I still don't see how. I believe that Shirley may have had other medical problems that contributed to her untimely passing.

    Not Getting The First Fill,anyone?

I have barely any fill. and I don't worry about chewing or anything. I've never gotten truly stuck. I've had a couple times that I've felt food going down for a few minutes (painfully), stood up and sipped some water and after a minute or two it went away (I don't think that constitutes being stuck, since from my understanding that lasts for hours). Weirdly it only has happened when I was at work when I was having dinner. I guess maybe stress tightens it a little. Oh and I didn't get my one and only tiny fill til 5 months post op.
