  1. Yeah I tried the unflavored Unjury in my wyler's drink today, only put in like 1/4 of the packet or not even in a 32 oz bottle. OMG,, I agree that is hard to drink. I am going to try again maybe with a little less and see if I can get the bottle down. I need to figure out something for the clear liquid part. On a good note, I got a call back from the coordinator and she said she was going to submit my papers today. I hope they approve quickly, so I can get the surgery this month.
  2. That's the thing with me too. I feel as a child I was a little heavy, but did not start gaining a lot of weight til I was 15, and I am 28 now so I have never been a skinny adult, so I have no idea what I will look like. SO yeah, I can't really picture it.

    Anyone use Wii workouts?

I have both Wii Fit Plus and EA sports Active. I used them a little when I first got them, but did not enjoy them much, I may try them again. I recently got Just Dance 2 and more recently Michael Jackson Experience (I love MJ) and have been doing the MJ one, it is not officially a work out game, but you can burn a lot of calories doing it. So I have been doing that as well as going to the gym. Also Wii Sports resort is fun, I try to move around a lot with the tennis to burn more calories (though I haven't playd it in a while).
  4. I am in a bad mood right now. It has been a week since my last appointment, and they said they'ed cll me withing a week with a date for surgery. I called my insurance comany and they said they had not received anything for approval for surgery. So I called the surgeons office and left a message for the coordinator. Seriously they have not submitted anything yet?!?! At this rate I may have too join the January bandsters ad if that happens I will be totally pissed!

    OXFORD HEALTHPLAN

Oh, I hope they don't deny often, I have Oxford Freedom plan. IMy paperwork should have been submitted and I m waiting for the surgeons office to call me.
  6. Waiting is killing me. I was told I'd get a cal within a week with a surgery date, yeah it's only been 3 days, but I am so impatient I want to know my day. I need to give notice in to work and I need to tell my mom, since she is going to take the day off too to help me. I wan the phone to ring with the date. AAGH!! I finally found a protein shake can swallow! The unjury chocolate splendor totally tastes like chocolate milk (when mixed with milk obviously) with no nasty protein taste. I am going to try the other unjury samples I got before I order a bunch of it. I hope I can mix the unfavored with my wyler's drink without a nasty tast for when I have to do full liquids.
  7. So when I went for my last appointment (before they submit my paperwork to insurance) yesterday. I asked my surgeon about insurance stuff and if there will be any costs to me if I get approved. His answer was this, t you don't know if the insurance is going to pay until after the surgery, which made no sense to me. I assume the submit the paperwork and I will be approved before the surgery. He also said that there should be no problem with them paying since I meet all the criteria and did all the pre op stuff. SO has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Now a question on Vitamins. I have been taking gummy vitamins (adult formula), is this ok to continue taking? Also are they ok to take when I am on liquids pre and post op? I also take a Calcium supplement like Viactiv, is this also ok to take? I've seen on some websites that there ar vitamins geared toward people who have had weight loss surgery, should I take those instead?
  8. Had my final appointment. Did not get a date, but was told the surgery coordinator would call me within a week with a date. Hopefully it is soon.
  9. Today is my last weigh in appointment. Hopefully I will get my date today and they will submit my paperwork to the insurance company. Will update after my appointment. I can't wait to get my date!!
  10. It could be a seroma, basically a build up of fluid. I would go to the doctor, but you could try and apply a warm compress, if it is a seroma that can help it, but definitely call your dr.
  11. I have not done my pre op diet yet, but from the postings I feel like I am lucky that my Dr. only requires 1 week. I think I'd go crazy with 2. I think it is 4 days shakes and 3 days clear liquids. I was just curious though, during the pre op diet phase, does anyone have energy to exercise? Or do you just concentrate on the not feeling sick to your stomach, I know when I get to hungry I start getting nauseaus.
  12. I gave up my soda like a month ago, so on thanksgiving I decided to bend one last time before I have surgery and drink some soda and a surprise to me it did not taste that good. Now if it was a fountain soda it may have been better, but I am happy that after a month without it I seem to have lost my taste for it.
  13. Yeah, I am looking for clear liquids for when I can only drtink the clear liquids and not shakes. I have not seen the clear muscle milk drinks in stores, I will have to go hunting. Or look online. Hopefully they taste better to me too (I know everyone taste is different) because I don't think I can stomach the isopure for 10 days.
  14. I finally ordered some samples of protein powders today. I also plan to go a store and pick up some premade ones to try. I had tried the Bariatric Advantage ones and could not swallow more than a couple sips. I also need to get the isopure ones for the liquid portion of the diet. I have my last appointment on the 30th and hopefully will get a date then, and they will submit my paperwork to the insurance company. I can't wait to start a new life, I am so done with this one.
  15. I tried the bariatric advantage sample that came in the mail today it was strawberry flavor and I could not drink it. I guess I will have to order samples from some other places and try them. Also I keeping hearing about and seeing people drink the atkins or EAS ones, I might pick some of those up and try them.
  16. My surgery is hopefully next month and I still have yet to find a protein shake. I don't know why I am putting this off.

    Time off work?

I'm a vet tech too. I was thinking a week would be good and just tell coworkers I can't lift heavy dogs for the next couple weeks. You think I need more? I don't want to have to use my vacation time and was just going to take a medical leave. The problem is I work emergency, so I never know what to expect we can have no emergencies and just treat the in hour patients or have a crazy night or day.

    Anyone out there?!!?

I don't have a date yet. I go for my 5th month of monitored diet this week. And then my last one end on November. I have 98% of my requirements done, so I should hopefully have my surgery mid December. My sister is getting married next November and I am going to be a bridesmaid, so I really want to have a lot of the weight off by then. I know it will not be all of it, but I am hoping I will be able to look OK. Because right now, I am terrified to have to wear a dress. I keep telling my sister that is going to be her wedding gift, me in a dress....LOL. I have not worn even a skirt in like 10.5 years.
  20. I don't think there is any way to bypass the 6 month medically supervised diet. I had done 6 months of WW within the last year and at the seminar they stated that this would suffice for those requirements, so here I was thinking, great I can have my surgery after I am done with all the tests. Well 2 months later, I got some news that devastated me, that was no longer sufficient, and I would have to continue to do the 6 months, I already had 2 months under my belt, but still I was so upset. So I moped for a bit, then I got over it and said, ok, I will have to deal. So I have my 5th weigh in this week, my 6th next month and will hopefully be banded mid december. So just do it, you will be happier in the long run.
  21. krasc001 I am in the same boat with you for the most part. I am currently 27 years old, (well 28 on Monday), I have NEVER had a boyfriend, I live my life alone, have a couple people that could be somewhat friends but we only do stuff very rarely. I am 5'2" and 250 lbs, My highest recorded weight was 308 lb. I too feel like my life is on hold until I lose weight. I suffer from depression, but don't take anything, I did when I was younger, but still always felt depressed, so I just gave up on it. I have tried Jenny Craig, lost 70 lbs and got bored and gained most of it back. Tried WW, and lost a little, but was getting frusterated. I had seen a coworker get gastric bypass many years ago and thought about it, but did not like the actual surgery and changing of the anatomy. last year another coworker had Lap Band and he looked pretty good, so I decided, I NEED to do this. I need to turn my life aroud, and hopefully this will make me feel better about myself. I still may need to go see a psychiatrist to get over some other issues, but this is going to help. A lot of my depression and overeating probably stems from family issues (a bipolar father and a sister with psychiatric problems as well), but I got picked on a lot in middle and high school. Sorry for telling you my life story, but all in all, I say go for it. I am going to have the surgery in December and I do not think I will regret it.

Did you "transition" into the liquid diet?

My Dr. only has a one week pre op diet. Off hand I think it is 4 days liquids and 3 days clear liquids. I am thinking I might try the week before to start going slowly, like do 1 meal shake, and 2 food and then 2 meals shakes and 1 food. Something like that, so I don't shock myself.
  23. I heard that most insurances only cover dietitions/nutritionists if you are diabetic. So I had to pay for my nutrition consult. Though it was a good price $164 for 3 visits.

    Lapband or Vertical Sleeve

Frankly I am against any surgery that involves cutting for me right now. There are so many other complications that you can have with those kind of surgeries. Yes, I am sure the surgeons do them all the time, but if you are the case that has complications, or the site dehisses or anything like that, I would not want to be there. I really also do not want to do anything permanent to my body. and the sleeve is permanent.
  25. More than likely I will be joining you December bandsters, I have the last of my 6 month appointments at the end of November, so it should make for my new life to start mid December.
