  1. I hate to cook, so when I cook something I always make a large amount. I live alone, so when I make food, I just weigh it out and put it in tupperware and in the freezer it goes. So when I need a meal, I have my Protein already made, just have to defrost, and just add a veggie and I have my meal. I found a turkey breast at pathmark, it has no bone just the meat, it takes about 1.5-2 hrs to cook and I cut it up and weighed it out, now I have enough for 8 meals in the freezer. I just need to come up with different meal ideas.

Congrats! That feels so good, my weight is slow going right now, but I do notice my clothes fitting differently. In fact my 2xl scrubs came in Monday and they feel so much better than my 3xl. I'm so happy with the. Youkeep up the good work!
  3. I take Gummy multivitamin Gummy fiber supplement Viactive (well the generic) calcium supplement usually 2-3/day. I don't really drink milk, so I need it Vitamin D weekly- when I had blood done I was told it my level was low. Though there is vitamin d in the calcium chews
  4. I wish it was...lol. I was cramping before surgery so I knew it was coming, but I had read that sometimes the stress of the surgery throws it off. Not for me, 3 days post op I got it, luckily the pain meds they gave me saved me from suffering through the bad cramps I usually get the day it starts. Then one month later got it again. I wad hoping I'd be like those who skip it post op for a couple months.
  5. I got mine the other day and it used to be the week before I was starving. I could eat and eat. Well post band that does not seem to be the case. I did not seem to have the hunger/cravings the week before, which I am happy about
  6. Seems all doctors are different, I went in yesterday expecting my first fill, I am a little over 5 weeks post op, and I was completely shocked when my doc said he wanted me to heal some more. Like I said I was shocked, I had only lost 2 pounds since my post op appointment, so I was sure he'd give me a fill and my weight loss would be bump started. (though thoses two pounds just started last week, I plateaued when I wasn't eating enough calories during the mushy, soft, etc stages). So I am really hoping that with my caloric intake being at a good level now and me going to be hitting the gym hard, the weight will start moving even without the fill. I am satisfied at a meal eating the 3-4 oz protein and 1/2 cup veggies. Does my mind want to eat more, yes, but if I listen to my stomach it is.

    My baby utensils...

Maybe I should try that, but only at home, I would be to embarrassed at work. I know I take to big of bites and don't chew enough. As of right now I have no fill so I have had mo problems getting stuck, but it is something I need to work on
  8. I went today expecting to get my first fill, but apparently my dr. wants me to heal more..... Now next time I goon is not til march 4th
  9. I had some left in my freezer from before surgery, I asked my nut about them the other day, she said I could, but no pasta dishes or stuff like that. I decided today that as much as I used to et them because they were easy, I think I am better off eating "real food" so I threw them out today.

    How often do you eat?

My doctor and nut want me eating 3 meals only. One, I cannot get enough calories in this way, two, I have no fill, so o get hungry in-between. So I am going to be telling then, three meals only, but do what works for me.
  11. I could never be a vegetarian nor vegan. I love meat to much. Yes, when I stop and think I do feel bad and being inthe veterinary field makes it harder, but I treat small animals not large. I could never give it up. I do not like seafood though, the smell makes me want to puke, so I've never really tried it. The only meat I do not eat is veal, because I feel bad for the babies.
  12. I was so flustered/annoyed when he said that, I forgot to ask the questions I wanted to ask. I am really annoyed right now, but right after the appointment I did what I had planned and right to the gym (had brought clothes with me). I am just so annoyed and I don't know what to do, I feel like eating something really bad for me like fast food, but I am not going to, I will make something at home for myself. If I have to wait what will end up being like 10 weeks post op to get a fill what the hell did I do this for? Yes, even with the band as it is right now, I do get fuller quicker and I feel bad if I do eat to much, but I NEED to start losing. This whole thing has put me in a bad mood. The problem also is partly he told me to come back towards the end of February, but when I went to make the appointment on my way out, the receptionist said he is going to be away at the end of February, but she has the week of the 14th, yeah, well I will be away that week, so it completely sucks. I'm just going to have to do this one my own, hey maybe I don't want any fills anyways, I don't want to end up like those who have so many restrictions on what they can't eat due to the band. I want to be able to eat whatever I want but in moderation. Also I've been thinking if I stay full longer I may not be able to get enough calories in that I need for the day. I'm probably digging way to into this right now, because of my annoyance.
  13. Apparently my doctor does not give fills at 5 weeks. This is shut! I just waited 40 min for my appointment and all he did was reiterate the rules to me. Did nit look at my incisions or anything. He said continue to heal for the next couple of weeks. Yeah, now my next appointment is not til march 4th, due to scheduling conflicts. I guess he does not base it off of if you are losing or not since I've only lost 2 lbs since I was last there 4 weeks ago. I am just going up have to kick the gum and stuff up a notch so I can actually lose some weight. Bull! Also him and my nut say no eating between meals, (my nut said if I need to have like 4oz of protein shake, but he said no liquid calories). Well how am I supposed to eat enough calories with only 3 meals. That way I've only gotten up to like 800 and that is do not enough for me to lose. I don't care I am still gonna do it the way that works fir me and I will tell them what they want to hear. If it work for me I am not messing with it. OK, end of my rant

    off topic....toothache

I had a filling a while ago and like a week or so later I started having major pain and it got worse an worse, I was in agony. Finally I found out the root had died and was infected and they had to drill a hole in it and let the infection and gas drain out for a couple days. I was on antibiotics for a week. This pain was a pain that no meds touched. Even when they injected me with novacaine it did not dull this pain. And it was shooting across my jaw. It was horrible. So a few days after he opened it I went back and he temporarily closed it, it was not fully done til like a month later to make sure the infection was gone. I never want to go through that again

    Calories with workouts

A good thing to note is the calorie tracker on machines are not accurate. I have a polar heart rate monitor with a chest strap that measures my heart rate (obviously) but tells me exactly how many calories I burn based off of my heart rate and weight and height. I love it (and love the fact that I had to tighten the strap...lol). I usually burn for 30 min on the elliptical about 400 calories. I need to add back on the weight machines. Depending on how many calories I burn I am going to try to eat more calories if needed. If I eat to little I don't lose

    My lap band size

I wonder if I am mistaken, she definitely said it was standard, I will ask again tomorrow when I go for my fill
  17. Jess55

    My lap band size

I asked at my post op appointment what size my band was and I was told 14cc which she said is the standard sized band. This is what I was told. I did also have a hiatal hernia repair too.
  18. Hmm...I have been having regularity issues for years and take miralax, wonder if I should try the papaya tablets....
  19. Beergut, I agree with purpleshell, that's not fair. I am up almost a pound today, and there is no way that is possible. I did get TOM yesterday and I am attributing it to that. Hope it disappears before I go for my fill tomorrow. I slacked on the gym last week which I wasn't my fault between a busy work schedule and some appointments I wasn't able. This week I am going tong all out. I hope between that and my fill things will start really moving
  20. I was told no liquid calories, once I finished the liquid stage obviously. It is just going to go through your pouch and not keep you full. Personally I am a scrambled egg eater in the morning

    Crystal lite vs H20

The only time I drink water is at the gym. I always drink wylers light (equivalent to crystal light just different brand). It definitely is the same as water, just has a bit of flavor. Though I dilute it more than the pack recommends. I put one singe serve packet on 32 oz of water, compared the the 16 oz the box says

    Returning to work

I have a physical job and took a week off and I could have gone back at 5 days
  23. Jess55

    Question..

One week is plenty for an office job. I have a phsyical job (vet tech), and I took a week off and I probably could have gone back at like 5 days. (minus lifting animals) Was getting really bored at home. Honestly the pain for me, I was surprised at how minimal it was, I was expecting worse and for longer. Yes, the day I had the surgery, I just wanted to crawl in a ball and make it go away, but the pain meds helped a lot. The second day, was not bad and the third day the only real pain I had, was cramps from my period...LOL. Though everyones pain and pain tolerance is different, I have seen plenty of posts where people are in a lot of pain for many days. I am over 4 weeks post op now and I do still feel my incisions when I lean on something and for some reason I was very uncomfortable yesterday (not enough to go home or anything). Theis was my first surgery and I would do it again if needed, it was not bad IMO
  24. @ HeatherinCA - I was told 1 cup of food, not 1/2 cup That is exactly like me. When I was on mushies and purees and liquids, I was eating like maybe 600-700 cal per day and going to the gym and burning like 400 calories. That was to low and I was burning to much, so at one point I was up like 3 lbs. Once I realized my problem and got to real food and got my calories up and stuff I lost that 3 lbs plue I am down like 0.6 lbs. Not much, but better than being up. I am also about to get TOM in a couple days and I can't believe I am saying this, but I hope I am retaining water and I am actually a little lower...LOL. But I think the weight loss will improve now that I am eating more calories. I look forward to seeing my NUT tomorrow and get her take. I think I am going to sign up for 3 more appointments, so I can continue to improve my eating.
  25. I have had long problem with constipation and subsequent gas (farting). I've attributed this to the constipation. Finally when I went for my GI consult and my PCP (which I hadn't been for years) They both reccomended miralax. So in the very beginning it worked very well, then started not to work as well, now working a little better, also was eating a fiber one bar a day and that helped some. Before surgery I had been taking ephedra to help boost my heart rate during exercise. I only took one pill when I went to the gym and that was it, otherwise it made me feel really weird and shaky and I could not function. I know ephedra is not really good to take, but as long as you stay hydrated, well whatever. Taking this also helped my constipation. But this last week I have been SOOO flatulant, it is really really bad. Anyone have any idea on how to help with this. Tried gas -x took one a day, maybe I need more.
