  1. You are not the only one by far. I was banded 12/20, I lost the first week post op, the stalled til I started eating normally 3-4 weeks later. Now I am losing, albeit slowly. Usually only 1 lb per week, maybe a little more or a little less. I would love to lose faster, but right now it is not happening. I have no fill yet until march 4th, maybe that will kick it up a notch. So right now I have no restriction and there is nothing I have found that I can't eat (not that I want it to be that way). So no you are not alone. I have only lost like 24 lbs (on iPhone not sure of exact loss) and 9.6 lbs of that was pre op, and 9.2 the week post op, in 2 months. Wishing for more
  2. Don't worry. It is normal. I only lost weight my first week post op. It took until I started eating real food and got my calories to a decent level to start losing again. It sucks, but you will star losing again
  3. I've been in the bahamas since last Saturday and have not been eating well at all. Most days people have cooked for us, so I have not had options of eating the right things. I am scared to step on the scale when I get home. The only good thing I have done is most days I have taken an hour long walk on the beach. I am still worried though. I get home tomorrow at 11:50 pm and starting then it is going to be back to the diet, and gym hardcore. I think part of the problem is, I still have no fill, there is to much junk food around, and I am not doing well at controlling myself, and I am PMSing. My next appointment is march 5th, so I have to do good by then, except this week completely screwed me.
  4. I had a hiatal hernia repair too. I only was in pain the first two days after that, just a bit of discomfort nothing bad at all.
  5. I aim for 1200, but sometimes go higher, sometimes end up lower. I use livestrong.com, the website and iPhone app. According to that site I need to eat around 1400 calories per day to lose 2 lbs per week. I usually don't get up that high, but sometimes wonder if I should because 2 lbs per week is not happening
  6. Unfortunately I never found one I could tolerate, so during my 5 days on clear liquids I got very little protein. Oh well
  7. I was banded banded on Dec 20th. I am going on a trip on Saturday, a spay/neuter clinic so it is a lot of work and some vacation. I don't want to screw up while there. I need some advice on eating there. I am going for a week. Not sure if I will get to exercise while I am there, but I do want to at least wake up early a couple days and maybe take a walk on the beach, I'm going to the Bahamas. Also flying with the Band? I have not had any fills yet, so it shouldnt be bad right? I heard it can tighten when flying. Also those new scanners are just external, right? So I shouldn't have any problems with that, I would think. Any advice anyone has would be appreciated. Thanks
  8. I did not feel like making a new thread, so I am just gonna post my NSV in here. I went shopping today for stuff for my trip and I went to Fashion Bug and go a nice pair of jeans that were size 22. Then I went to Old Navy wanting to check out their jeans, I was disappointed to see they only carried up to size 20. I was like what the heck, let me see, they probably won't fit. I picked up 2 different styles, the first one I tried on fit. I was like yay holy crap, they fit. The second style, buttoned, but felt really uncomfortable, so I did not get that one. But I was so happy I now can fit into Old Navy. It made my day, and even though I did not find what I went out looking for, which was a pair of capris, since I am going to the Bahamas, I had a good day. Oh well, hopefully it won't be super hot there and I can get away in jeans, without dying of heat.

    how soon can you exercise?

I started at the gym 12 days post op. But I got bored my first week home, so by like day 6 or 7 I was actually playing my Michael Jackson dance Wii game. Not crazy hard, because I was worried about ruining something, but I did it. And technically I exercised on day 8 too, by digging my car out of over a foot of snow (I don't recommend doing that though)
  10. I've been chronically constipated for years now, I finally asked my doc last year, and she recommended miralax. I take it usually 5 times a week. I do not take it when I have work early the next morning (which is twice a week), because for some strange reason it does not work on those days, which is really weird. It usually works, but not as much as I'd like it to. I may try that Senna S stuff recommended above. I am going on vacation on Saturday and will be up early most days, so not sure if miralax will work, or I could try taking it in the am and going at night, but we'll see. I have to go to the drug store anyways.
  11. I would LOVE to be able to do that. I haven't had a fill yet, only 7 weeks post op, but I thought I was going to get one abd my doc said he wanted me to heal more. But I hope either to have no fill or very little. I am satisfied with what I am eating and my only true hunger between meals is head hunger, which I gotta work on. I do not want to end up to tight like some people who can't even eat breakafast. My doc and nutritionist says no snacks inbetween meals, but I do not get enough calories during meal, so I am doing what works for me.

    Time off...

I have a physical job. I took a week off. Surgery Monday and back to work the following Monday and I dug mycar out from under a foot of snow that day too (not the best idea I had lol). I probably could have gone back a couple days sooner though

    No fill for me today

I can understand how you're feeling. While I did not have a hematoma, I had gone in for my fill 2 weeks ago, expecting to get one. My doc told me he wanted me to heal longer, even though I'd only lost 2 lbs since my post op visit and it'd been 5weeka post op. I was frusterated I forgot to ask all the questions I had. Now I am kind of happy I didn't get one

    Sabotaging couch?

SInce I moved into my own place last April, I have never bought a kitchen table. I always eat on the couch. I feel sitting at a table alone seems stupid for me. Though I do not think it is sabatoging me. I put my food on my plate and don't get up for anymore, just put my dish away. Though I still eat to fast, and I think that may have something to do with eating on the couch, but I am working on that.

    Reappearing period?

I know when I was younger and ate like total crap (ie mcdonalds most days and other crap food). I only got my period every other month. When I started dieting and trying to lose weight it went back to every month. I kind of miss every other month, though not due to the way I ate
  16. Last night for dinner I may have eaten a little to much and that includes some bread. I do not have any fill yet. Ever since then my stomach has been bothering me. Just uncomfortable, not unbelievable pain or anything. I still am getting a little hungry, not like I have been though. Do you think I should go to Protein shakes for the rest if the day and maybe tomorrow? Not sure if it is just that I ate to much and irritated something. I also had a hiatal hernia repair during surgery. DO you think I could have done any real damage?
  17. Jess55

    Possibly overate?

Yeah I was told not to do liquid calories, but it was just a thought. I will try for dinner to cut smaller and chew better and see if it feels ok
  18. Jess55

    Possibly overate?

I was banded 12/20. And yeah Ive been in solids for like 3 weeks

    Pre Op

I had blood taken, a chest rad, an EKG, and was given a machine to breathe into to open my lungs. Other than that, I was just asked a bunch of questions and given some hospital info, and they filled out paperwork for the hospital. I was told it would take and hour and a half and it only took like 45 minutes.
  20. I totally believe that we need adequate calories to lose, too. Until I managed to get my calories up to at least 1000 calories I was at a plateau after the first week. Now, it isn't flying off, but I am losing

    Acid Reflux

I had a hiatal hernia repair with my band as well. About 12 days out, for 3 nights in a row I had wicked heartburn. Felt like someone was stabbing me in the chest it was that bad, I was going to call my surgeon but it stopped, and has not happened since. I haven't had any reflux since surgery either. Thing is, I did not know I had a hernia, but thinking back I had all the symptoms and always just ignored them, but happy it got fixed and I don't have anymore symptoms. I know this doesn't really answer your question

    Frustrated!

I agree with this. My weight loss is slow (I feel for what I have been doing and compared to others), but I've already started fitting in to pants that used to be to small and a few of them, now those are to big. I'm down to 2 pairs of jeans that fit me (a little snugly), but the other ones just feel to big. (Will have to get new ones soon ). But I feel like the scale isn't moving as much as it should. But I am also going to the gym and doing the weights 4 times per week, so I am probably building some muscle. I have a scale obsession and I weigh myself everyday usually multiple times, which I know I shouldn't because my weight fluctuates a lot during the week and it frusterates me. So just keep doing what you're doing and it will come off. I'm sure eventually we will see a big jump in the scale and it will make us happy. @ BrianDevin - I was told, not to have liquid calories. I should and am getting enough Protein from food, so I do not see reason to continue Protein shakes.
  23. My progression, was like this Week 1 - clear liquids - though I was told I could progress to the next stage at day 5 if everything was going ok, so I did Week 2 - full liquids Week 3 - purees - Week 4 - Chopped/Ground consistancy Week 5 - Regular foods I've seen on here that a lot of doctors have different schedules, so I'd go by what your doc recommends
  24. Did they put a scopalamine patch on you before surgery? They did for me, and I left it on for 3 days (though found out that it was messing with my vision), but I had zero nausea. But, if you are nauseas, I would definitely get some meds or even the patch to help with it. You do not want to throw up.
  25. When I went in for my post op visit a after I was banded, I had asked about if there was anything in my band and I was told that the band is packaged with some saline in it, skinless the doctor takes it out, everyone has a lite bit in their band to start with
