December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just hate my jeans. They are fine when they come out of the dryer, but wear them for a few hours and they feel like they are falling down. They are size 20, but I have one pair of 18's that I can put on and button but they are uncomfortable -
A hiatal hernia does not prevent you from getting a lap band, they just fix it while they are on there. I had mine fixed as well as many other people on the board has had one

Crystal Light??
Jess55 replied to Hopes of a Dream!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like I said I drink it a lot by I also water it down. My taste has changed since I've been drinking it. I started with the individual packets that say mix with 16.9 oz. Then it got to sweet so I changed it to 20 oz, then 24, now I mix it in 32 oz, for the individual and the large packets in a little more than a gallon -
Crystal Light??
Jess55 replied to Hopes of a Dream!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use it all the time (well wylers light but basically the same thing). The only time I drink plain water is when I am working put -
IS lapband possible for a peritoneal dialysis patient ?
Jess55 replied to ddp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd recommend calling a surgeon, but I would think not since abdominal surgery disrupts the peritoneal space, plus if she has kidney failure I wouldn't even think it would be safe to have her go under anesthesia since so many drugs are filtered through the kidneys. Going under for a transplant is a different story -
Like reverie, I portion my food and stop eating when it is gone. Honestly my hunger is gone after a few bites, but I know that won't hold me, nor is that enough calories.

The Isopure clear liquid is nasty! I couldn't even swallow any flavor. The only thing that gave me protein on my clear liquid diet was the unjury chicken broth. Needless to say during my clear liquid portion I did not get nearly enough protein. For full liquids unjury all the way

if don't stick to the liquid diet-will surgery get cancelled? /has anyone's liver been too big?
Jess55 replied to kcharr77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a nice jump start to your weight loss as others have said. Will you surgery be cancelled probably not. But, i think you need to think about your surgery now, it seems you are already planning to not follow your docs instructions, this is not a good sign for your surgery. In order to lose weight with your lap band you need to follow your docs directions. You don't have to to a tee, but there are rules you need to follow. I would not recommend starting to sabotage yourself from the get go -
don't read if your scared
Jess55 replied to tnt21705's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you lost 3-4 lb in one week that is great weight loss, you can really only expect to lOse 1-2 lb per week -
Post op 6 days - minor complications
Jess55 replied to Woodslass's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hard lump you are feeling could be your port. Is it by the largest incision? The pull could be because it is sutured to your muscle -
What were YOUR favorite mushies???
Jess55 replied to Ssauce74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ricotta cheese with sauce and shredded mozzarella, baked. It is delicious -
Good thing I stumbled across this thread, I have been cold lately too. Hadn't taken my temperature until I had a cold two weeks ago and I was freezing, I took my temp and it was 95.3. I was like wth! My normal temP is usually a little low at 97 something. I've taken my temp a few times since then and if I feel cold it is usually low in that range. I was like something must be off with my thermo regulation

How did you handle getting to eat your favorite meal?
Jess55 replied to Ssauce74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you have a psych consult or go to support groups before your surgery? There was no point in having the surgery if you're going to eat a large plate of food. You need to think about why you had the surgery. As to when you can eat real food, follow your docs guidelines -
Realistic weight loss
Jess55 replied to skinnybitchtobe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will slow down. I'm not sure what you weighed at surgery or what you weigh now, on my phone so I'm not sure if your goal is realistic or not. But a lot of people end up plateauing sometime during the first six weeks due to healing. I plateaued weeks 2-5, my weight loss average right now is like 1 lb per week. I've increased my activity so once my body gets used to it, I hope it will pick up. But realistically the average persons weight loss is 1-2 lb per week. If you think about it sometimes slower is better because it can give your skin time to adjust -
For Those With Weight Loss Tickers-What Figure Do You Start With?
Jess55 replied to 1970MaleJaxFL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put the weight when I started my one week pre op diet -
affraid to get a fill
Jess55 replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 months out and no fill yet. Like checkyes I did not plan it that way. I just feel like I have restriction with just the band and I'm doing ok without a fill ( I do thunk I have some fill from surgery though, I want to ask when I go on Wednesday) I do hope I can keep going without one. But I'm not afraid to get one, if I do I will make sure I never get to tight though -
Doctor Scale and Home Scale - which is correct?
Jess55 replied to healthyroad69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go by my home scale. My docs scale usually weighs me a little less, but I'm going to be monitoring my weight at home after I stop going to my doc monthly so I use mine. As for what the doc sees your weight is obviously he will go by his -
I've seen a few people talk about low carb diets. Usually my carbs end up being like 90 by the end of the day. I haven't eaten pasta in months. I'm just curious if I were to try it, what would I eat?
-
I'm 4 months out and doc too said no fill. I can go 3-5 hours without being hungry. There is every so often a day when I am overly hungry though. But I can eat a small amount and be satisfied. I hope I can keep going without one. I do know when I do get one though I am going to be in trouble because I don't chew as well as I should

why am i not losing?
Jess55 replied to Pammy S Lewis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pam, I stalled at weeks 2-5. Don't worry you'll start losing again -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it happens after you go so long without eating. Tuesdays I work in surgery and I couple if weeks ago , we were very busy and I was in the OR all day. I had breakfast at about 7:30 am, went directly to work, I managed to take a sip of water at maybe 11 ish. Then non stop til 8:30pm. By that time my hunger had come and gone. I did have dinner just because I know it isn't good for you not to eat at all. But I'm sure I could've just not eaten. -
Anyone experience almost no pain after surgery
Jess55 replied to newme4611's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would not say I had no pain, but I felt it was minimal. The first day I was like with did I do. But the second day was so much better only took the meds a few times and the third day I only took one dose and only because I got my period and I always get wicked cramps. I was still uncomfortable getting up for the next day or 2 but it was minimal. Compared to some people on here though I'd rate mine very low -
How long did you stay home from work
Jess55 replied to cat lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work to a physical job after one week and was fine. Felt like I could have even gone back a day or 2 sooner. Started getting really bored at home...lol -
I lost my week-by-week post-surgery diet paper!
Jess55 replied to Yasuna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to call your doc or nutritionist and get a copy of their plan. You can ask everyone here and everyone will have a different plan and you need to follow what your doc goes by -
approved pain relievers/non-approved
Jess55 replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I asked the PA she said it was ok to take ibuprofen occasionally for headaches and such. So that is what I still take
