Has anyone actually NOT cheated on 2 week pre-op diet?
Jess55 replied to MCCLB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had one week and the day I started we had a meeting where they ordered pizza and had cookies. I tried so hard, I did have one small brownie. That was it and it was the first day, nothing else the rest of the week. It honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be -
Unjury or Syntrax Nectar
Jess55 replied to NJGirl32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hadnt tried the strawberry unjury, but I love the vanilla and chocolate ones. The chocolate when mixed with milk tastes like chocolate milk to me which I love. Everyones taste is different though. A lot of people like the Bariatric Advantage, I tried it and thought it was horrible. If you go to the unjury site they have atrial box with 2 chocolates, 2 vanilla, 2 strawberry, and 2 chicken Soup flavor packets, Aldo comes with a meat thermometer and a bottle to mix the shakes in. Thats what I got at first. The chicken soup flavor is the only Protein I got during clear liquid stage and it wasn't bad. As for they syntax nector, I never tried it, so I can't advise on that -
Definitely do not get a fill! As vip said talk to your doc about throwing up, if there was something in it at surgery they might even want to take a little bit out

As for recovery time, really everyone is different. I have a physical job. I took one week off, I felt like I could have gone back anywhere from day 5-6 post op. On day 7 when I was supposed to go back, we'd had a big snow storm the night before and my car was buried under over 1 foot of snow. I knew my supervisor would have been fine with it had I called and said my car is buried and I can't come in since she knew I had surgery. But I was bored at home, so I dug my car out and went. (not something I'd recommend though I had no complications from it). There are other people here though that I've seen struggle to go back after 2 weeks. So it all depends on you

Petrified of being nauseous and throwing up
Jess55 replied to e in ny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe it is called a scopolamine patch, I had one and did not get nauseas once post op. It did however mess with my eyesight so be careful with that. I didn't realize it was the patch at first -
Congrats!!! That is awesome!

8 Weeks Post Op and Still No Fill.
Jess55 replied to GoCubbies79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
600 seems awfully low. I think even more so since you are a male. I think men need to eat more than woman. I eat anywhere from 1200-1400 per day. As for no fill you've list 71lb in 8 weeks, my dOc believes of you are losing no fill is needed. I'm 4 months post op and still losing last time was like 1.5 lb per week so they felt I still didn't need a fill and I've been comfortable where I am. Except for every so often. Yesterday I was hungry shortly after lunch, but that isn't usual for me. -
I am 10 weeks put or so. I haven't had the left shoulder pain in quite some time. Yesterday I made a mistake at work and I was really upset about it and stressed out. All the sudden my left shoulder started bothering me. It felt like the same kind of pain/irritation that I had post op from the gas. After I stopped worrying the pain went away. I was just curious if anyone else had the shoulder pain cone back from stress?

Honestly I don't see what the big deal is. Even if I get to my goal weight there is no way you'll see me in a bikini. I have so many other scars on my arms/ hands from dog and cat scratches and bites, it doesn't bother me. After a while they wont be that noticable unless you know where to look Also if you don't want a scar don't have surgery

My original plan was to continue to use WW, but while I was doing the 6 month supervised diet, I decided this is stupid and decided to just count calories and have done fine with that.

Questions for anyone at any stage out
Jess55 replied to Auroraishere's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
1. No regrets, I am happier than I've ever been in my life. I'm no longer depressed and realized my depression was physical and not chemical (which makes sense why I never felt antidepressants never worked). 2. The only thing I was a little surprised about was how much my throat hurt after being intubated. I've intubated tons of animals and never thought about how uncomfortable it can be. I did not get a lot of gas pain. I wanted to die the first day, but I knew it would be painful, I only took the pain meds the first 2 days (not every 4 hours) and once on day three and only because I got TOM and had bad cramps. 3.I went back after 1 week and I have a physical job. I cod have gone back at day 6-7 but I had already taken off. I even dug my car out from under a foot of snow to go back ( I was really bored at home ) 4. I felt pretty normal at day 5. I mean I was still a bit sore getting up and out of bed and sitting, but nothing horrible. I guess if you meant no pain at all, probably at 2 weeks (I think) -
That's great! I say if you're fine the way you look and feel right now than stay where you are. I may change my number too as I get closer, as I've been obese my whole adult life so I have no idea what I will look like

Hmm I wonder if I should refill the vitamin d prescription I was supposed to be taking? My surgeon said my levels were low, but the calcium chew I take has vitamin d in it. I too have been really tired lately and feel I've been struggling more in my workouts. Mine seemed to start when I started taking birth control, so I stopped taking it, it's only been 3 days since I've been off it. If it continues I'll mention it at my next visit next month. I'll refill the vitamin d in the mean time though

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's an awesome birthday gift!!! Keep up the great work and have a happy birthday! I agree with just the small size being a great gift. My birthday is not til October but just thinking about how much smaller I could be by then is a good enough gift for me. -
Is an Unfilled Band the same as no band?
Jess55 replied to SoCalAvsFan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off, how in the world do you blame the band for a person having a piece of sausage blocking her trachea? The band is around your stomach, which is in your abdominal cavity where the opening to your trachea is in your mouth. I don't see how the two are related. If she died from that there is no way the band caused it. Secondly, a bans has to have Fluid for it to be locked in place? The sutures are what is holding it in place. I've had my band for 4 months and have not had a fill and I've never been stuck or PB'd or anything. I don't see how it can be dangerous. Third, is this surgeon your quoting the same one who caused you to have all the problems with your band? If so I don't think you should remember anything he's said. -
1. Walk into any store and buy clothes without worrying if it will fit (and probably just stop wearing jeans and a t shirt since I've always hated clothes shopping) 2. Be comfortable on an airplane and not try to book my seat without anyone sitting next to me. 3. Someone said ride a horse, I think I'd like to do this without feeling I'm hurting the horse 4. Not be scared to death to wear a dress at my sisters wedding in November 5. Wear shorts 6. Be able to go to an amusement park and not wonder if I'll fit on this ride 7. Be more confident and not be scared to do things like dance in front of people 8. Get a boob lift 9. Finally have a boyfriend

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah! I'm still kind of in disbelief. I may be losing a lot slower than many others but since I've been working out so much I look so much smaller -
If that is truly all you are eating, that is not even 400 calories. That is to low. I would increase your calories

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure they will too. On a positive note, went to old navy to get new jeans because my size 20 ones I got there like 2 months ago only fit me right out of the dryer and stretch to big within a few hours of wearing them. Tried on a pair of 18"s and they fit, but were slightly loose and I knew they would end up to big once I wore them. So I was like what the he'll. Grabbed a pair of 16 s and they fit! A but snug and I'll probably wear them around the house for a tiny bit just to break them in before Saturday. I can't believe it! -
WHO IS HAVING A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THEIRS?
Jess55 replied to Rosemarie K's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am very happy with my band. I would consider myself a slow loser, around 1 lb a week average. But I am happy with it. I have yet to have a fill and was banded in December. I allow myself to have "treats" and I only get hungry after 4-5 hours. I do usually 6 kickboxing classes a week. I would do it again -
If you are not hungry there is no need to get a fill. Also I've read that fills sometimes don't kick in for 2 weeks, why are you getting a fill so close to each other. I don't see how a fill will make you lose weight. Especially if you are not eating to much. Play around with your calories or exercise. Sorry this is just going on things I've read, I've never had a fill

how long did you have to do the liquid diet?
Jess55 replied to cantwaittobeskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you talking pre or post op? Pre op I had 5 days full liquids, 2 days clear liquids. Post op 1 week clear liquids, 1 week full liquids, 1 week mushies, 1 week ground/chopped, then normal food -
How much does she weigh? I went back to work one week after banding. I work with animals as an LVT and I lifted up dogs no problem. For the first 3.5 weeks post op, I kept it to under 25lb though. I had no problems. After that I went right back to picking up 60+ lb dogs, depending on how I felt

Has anyone else done this
Jess55 replied to Boiler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just jump right back in! I went away to the Bahamas 7 weeks after my surgery. I did not have a lot of choices of eating very healthy on that trip (most meals were brought to us) I admit I ate like crap too. Though I did walk on the beach most days. Luckily I came back to find i'd lost .5 lb. But when I got back, even though I got home at like 2 am. I woke up in the morning and was at the gym at 10am. So I jumped right back on and kept going. So believe me you can do it, dive right in!
