I have nabumstone (an NSAID) left over from when I had patella tendinitis before my surgery, but I don't want to take it before checking with my doc or PA. If one of the neurology techs at work is still in when I go in to work tomorrow, I'm gonna have her do this low light laser therapy on my arm. It's supposed to work really well and I hope she's still there, otherwise I'll have to wait til tuesday. It kind of sucks because I don't want to rest it since then that will ruin my exercise and stop my wright loss. Thanks for everyones advice

How to obtain Weight Watchers diet history?!??
Jess55 replied to LadyR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my weigh in book. Then later on I was told it was not accepted. So I had to do a six month diet anyways. It sucked, but gave me time to do more research -
I slept on my side on the day of surgery it all depends on you. Took like a few days to a week til I could sleep on my stomach though. No way I can sleep on my back, I can only sleep that way for like 20 min then I wake up

I met a group of people I hadnt seen since 4 months pre surgery and about 45# heavier. I was hoping someone would say something to me, I was surprised that only one of my friends did. Upset me a little bit when there were like 8 of them there. Given they were in the room at the time and maybe heard her and didn't feel the need. I dont know

Weird, I didn't think they'd be able to see anything. I thought it just liked outlined your body or something. If that happened to me, my port is very easily felt and I'm only 4.5 months post op. So when I lose more weight it will be more prominent and I fly at least once a year. Not sure what would happen if they felt my port on me

Gas x strips are good. I took them, though never really felt like I had gas pains. Are you sure you can't shower for 10 days my discharges said no bathing, but showers were fine after 24 hours. Didn't matter to me since I only shower anyways lol. As for wearing jeans my incisions are up higher than my waist line so if I remember correctly when I went out for the first time on day 3 I wore jeans

Like I said I don't take it as directed because I know the risks. Also I tried the one with caffeine before and it makes me feel very weird so I don't take that one anymore

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it is, and I feel like 100 times better about myself then I did before the surgery. But you know we all want to be smaller than that -
There are sites online to get it. I knew someone would bring it up. As long as you drink enough to stay hydrated and stuff it's fine. I drink a lot when I work out. 32 oz while working out and 32 oz after

Hunger level after surgery
Jess55 replied to MissJ482's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like you said everyone is different, so I'll give you my experience. For the pre op diet, I had one week, 5 days full liquids, 2 days clear. I've been dieting for many years, not sure if this helped my hunger or not. I was surprised at how easy it was, I actually wasn't that hungry, it was mostly head hunger I think. As for after surgery, I think for the first 2 weeks I wasn't hungry (on clear the first week, then full liquids week 2.). I think I started getting a little hungry week 3 on mushies. I never got like starving or anything, I'm 4.5 months post op and I dint have a fill yet and usually I can go about 4 or 5 hours without feeling hungry. Just so you know, my weight loss did stall week 2-4. I attribute this to the low caloric intake. Ive found if I don't eat enough calories I do not lose. But I couldn't eat enough at that time due to following my post op diet. -
I'm not sure if other people are against this or not, while I don't take it for dieting, I take an ephedra pill right before I work out. Just to get my heart rate up a little more to burn more calories. The bottle says take 2-3 a day, like I said I only take one rightbefore I work out and it gets my HR up a little higher. I had tried a different one prior to thif

You may want to have a breakfast of better food. I'd been feeling hungrier lately on and off and I think I've figured it was on the days I didn't really eat breakfast. Every so often I would wake up a little late and I was like I'll just wait til lunch to eat and just have maybe a WW string cheese or nothing at all, and I think it is those days I've been hungrier. Basically everyday my breakfast is 1/2 cup egg beaters scrambled with ff shredded cheese mixed in and 2-4 slices Oscar meyer ready cooked bacon. Though this morning I just had the eggs and cheese. So maybe try a better breakfast. I really was starting to think I needed my first fill but I'm going to be trying this theory out til my next appointment

I finally told my Mom!
Jess55 replied to LOVELYGIRL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry that happened. My mom was the first person I told, I've been dieting for years, Jenny Craig, WW. And she knew I've struggled, so when I told her she was very supportive. Even said right away when it was time, shed take off work to take me to the hospital and help me. Hopefully your mom will see the light that you are only doing something to truly help yourself -
Pre-Op Diet Protein Shake Suggestions??
Jess55 replied to lee_nyc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried Bariatric advantage and hated it. The unjury chocolate an vanilla was great and I will still drink it every so often if I need a protein boost or short on calories for the day. 28 g protein when made with milk. The chicken soup flavor was the only clear protein I was able to tolerate. Not bad tasting. -
While it is not all with lap band, my highest weight ever was 308 and today I weighed in at 207.4! I'm so happy!

Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is a good SV for me. I weighed in at 207.4#. Not a number to be proud of but my highest weight ever was 308# so that means I've officially lost 100#. I'm so happy, with my yo-yoing I've lost more than that, but you know. I am also feeling so close to onederland I can taste it. Hopefully before the end of the month! -

They shouldn't see the band the scanner just outlines your body, not an x ray machine

You shouldn't need one for NSAIDs. If you can communicate you can tell them, and if you can't they obviously can't give you NSAIDs orally. And if they are injectable, it's not going through your stomach so it shouldn't matter.

I had never had anesthesia prior to my banding, I was sedated for my upper endo. But for anesthesia it was my first. I'm an LVT so I've done anesthesia on hundreds of animals, so I was very aware of the risks. Though I do know though it has risks it's also safe. It's very rare we have a anesthetic death at my job. I was a littlenervous but so excited to start my new life. As for my experience I was given (I assume) versed to relax me before they injected (again I assume) proposal and next thing I knew I was waking up. Though I was in a great deal of pain when I woke up the nurse was right there to give me pain meds I think they said it was fentanyl and I fell back asleep. I woke up again and was still painful so they gave me more and I again fell asleep. The next time I woke I felt a lot better and after I proved I could stay awake I was wheeled downstairs until I was ready to leave. So you'll be fine

Filled with regret....
Jess55 replied to futurelooksbright09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not directed to you futureisbright, this is why in hindsight the six month supervised diet is a good thing, you have time to actually educate yourself on what you are getting into. As for not eating meats etc. Remember that is only temporary when you are healing, you'll be back to real food in no time. As for not drinking while eating just don't bring a cup with you to the table. I don't drink while eating or like 45 minutes after and I average around 100 oz of Water a day. You'll get enough in don't worry. I promise it will get better -
I really hope exercise can play a factor. I do 6 kickboxing classes a week and am losing slowly so I hope that helps. I'm 28 so I hope I have age on my side too. I'm not sure though I've been obese for over 10 years so not sure if my skin has had it. Time will tell, still have a ways to go

You are not supposed to drive at all the same day. You will most likely have a iv catheter put in and given propofol and then you will wake up and it will be over. They WILL NOT let you drive home after that. I had a scheduled dentist appointment the same day as mine and I was still so tired 5 or 6 hours later I skipped it. After my test was over my mom drove me home and went home herself and I fell asleep on the couch. As for eating, yes I was able to, but was way to tired to even think of eating right after the procedure. Even though I was NPO since the night before
