    Crazy weight loss!!!

I understand that. I've had times where I am so good with what I eat and exercise and have minimal loss and then weeks where I eat to much but still exercise and I lose more. So I am like, ok gotta up my calories, then I gain or maintain. My weight does crazy things
  2. Also with only 65 lbs to lose, you may lose it slower than with someone who has over 100 lb. And at 2 months out, I may have been below 25 lb lost and I had much more than you to lose. (still have more than 65). I am guessing you were self pay? I'm not saying all self pays are, but I think with those who are self pay, go through the process so quick they don't have time to truly educate themselves on how the band really works. As opposed to with insurance a lot have to go through 6 month diet, I know that gave me time to come here and see how it actually works. I am in no way trying to offend the OP

    back to normal

That is awesome! I'm so glad you've kept your mind to continue doing this without the band. And I have to admit I am jealous over your weight loss.

    INSURANCE REQUIREMENT... 3 Years

That's strange. When I had my surgery, my company had switched insurances 3 months prior and that worried me if they would cover it. I have Oxford freedom (now my company is switching back to empire bcbs) but they covered it right away after I did all the tests and 6 month diet thing.
  5. I ate so poorly yesterday, there was a party for someone that's leaving at work. I am so disappointed in myself. I bought some milk last night and I need to get back on track, so today I'm going to do protein shakes. I'm going to try to do it all day, but if I'm starving by later I'll have a light dinner. Might do tomorrow too. I just need to get back on track and hopefully this will give me a push, because the scale is depressing me. I am like addicted to the scale, I'm trying to cut back and I promised myself I will only step on it once a day, right when I wake up.

    1st fill bad reaction

Have you ever had a cavity before and been numbed in your mouth? Because lidocaine is the same as novacaine.
  7. Calories is usually around 1200. If I do 2 kickboxing classes (or a lot if exercise ) I will go up to 1400. As for my band, ive yet to have a fill, but lately some days I'm starving other days I'm fine so when I go in on the 25th I'll be discussing it. Not Tom gain, salty foods is possible I guess. My rollerblading has been temporarily been put on hold until I get a new pair. I was not meant to blade in a 15 year old pair, I tried to take them out again and they broke. So I have to find a new pair.
  8. I'm having a slightly similar problem, this past week I was up a pound and I didn't do anything different to deserve the gain. I am now fluctuating and am getting upset about it. I wanna do something different, I went rollerblading yesterday and I'm gonna continue that so not sure with the increased activity. Do I up my calories, decrease them, do a liquid diet for a day or two. Not happy with the way the scale is going right now
  9. I said to myself the other day, I want to go rollerblading again. Now, I have not done this is probably 10+ years. So today it was nice out, not to hot, not to cold. So I said what the hell. I put on my rollerblades, stood up, a bit shaky. And went out, went around the parking lot a bunch of times, just to get back into it. Then decided to go down the street. And I kept going, before I knew it I was about 3 miles away from my apartment! At this point my ankles were starting to hurt a bit, so I turned around. So in total I went 6 miles!! I am quite happy with that. When I got home my ankles were killing me, but after having them off for a few minutes they felt fine again. If I continue doing this, I may buy a new pair, maybe they make them a bit more comfortable now, after all I've had this pair for like 15 years or so. But I think today was a good day!
  10. Don't worry. This is the best thing I've ever done for myself. The first day I wanted to crawl in a hole, but the next day was better and day 3 was just a bit sore. You'll feel so much better

    NSV!

Thanks. Definitely go for it! You can start training now. You'll have a year to get ready! I've never done a 5 k or anything, but when I was younger my family and I did a few bike rides for different causes. I've never been one for walking, and running well I don't like when things jiggle and bounce...lol. But I would have to agree it is probably more fun in a group. So go for it! My next thing I want to accomplish is getting back on a horse. I used to love horseback riding, but then got so big, I just felt like I was going to hurt the horse. I think I'm at the point now that guys weigh as much as me (well some) so I think I wouldn't feel like I was going to hurt it anymore. Will definitely be going in the next couple months

    Personality change

I believe mine has changed a little, but for the better. I was very depressed pre surgery. Just with life in general. Post surgery I am becoming a bit more outgoing (slowly).

    May Challenge

I was supposed to check in yesterday, my weigh in day, but I was so upset that I was up a pound. I stayed on track last week and went to kickboxing 6 times, so either it is water weight or making up for the week before when I did not eat so great, yet lost 2.2 lb. Still I am upset about it . Hopefully the coming week will prove better.

    what is a stricture

A stricture is a narrowing. You didn't say where it was, but I'm guessing you esophagus. Problems would be difficulty swallowing food. To fix it they could probably use an endoscope with something with a balloon type thing and expand the balloon to open up the stricture. I know we had a dog with an esophageal stricture once and they had to do that a few times to get it to stay opene
  15. I personally would nOT want to. A number of weeks ago, I tried birth control to help alleviate cramps and nausea I had during tom. The doc told me it would not cause me to gain wait, almost immediately I was up 3 lb. I also felt tired on it and just did not like how I felt. I gave it a week, and I was like I'd rather feel like crap one day, then feel like this everyday.

    High schoolers with lap band?

I personally think being home schooled may be a bad idea for the fact you'll be home all day and may think about snacking. Now I HATED school got picked on all the time and was depressed the whole time, so I totally understand if this is why you want to be home schooled, I would have loved to be out of that environment. I tell you I went to graduation, tossed my hat and ran. But I think that it may make you want to eat, as opposed to being in class and not be allowed to have food and stuff

horrible tom cramps what to take?

I've had bad cramps the day I get Tom also (minor cramps the 5 or so days prior). I had finally went to a gyn to get birth control to help it. I took it for a week and found it made me gain weight, feel more tired and hindered my calorie burn during my workouts (shown by my polar HR monitor) I stopped taking it as I did not like those effects. I'll go through one day of feeling like crap instead of the whole time having that. My mom recommended b complex and b6, so I'm trying that. Will see how it goes this month
  18. I too am a stomach sleeper, I was able to sleep on my side right from the start. I think to fully sleep on my stomach it too about a week. As for the port, mine is a little user my bra line, while it doesn't bother me with my bra, it is very very easily felt and I'm thinking it will be extremely noticible when I lose all the weight. Not that I ever plan to wear a bikini or anything...lol

    Absolute frustration!

Totally normal. As people say the first 6 weeks are about healing, not about weight loss. I stalled weeks 2-5. As for being able to eat about as you did prior, normal for most people too. There are some that feel satisfied right from the surgery and most who need fills and it can take many of then to get you to the point you need to be at.
  20. Wow, I really can't believe that so many people have woken up. As I said anesthesiologists are trained to monitor your plane of anesthesia, so your"e not too deep nor too light. I would make sure never to use those anesthesiologists again!

    Weightloss

It is not abnormal to plateau when you go from liquids to mushies. You've lost a lot of weight in a short time and your body us adjusting. Also some bodies don't do well with such low calories. I stalled from week 2 (full liquids) to week 5 ( solids). I believe thus was due to my consuming under 1000 calories. Ive found I need to eat at least 1100 to lose weight

    ALL OF A SUDDEN!!!!!

I was banded 12/20 and hadn't had a fill yet, but I've been finding myself hungry lately and am thinking it may be time. I have an appointment on the 25th so I'm gonna wait til then and see how it goes. The way it's been so far is that I've been losing so I haven't needed one and I'm still losing but now am hungry so I will discuss it at my next visit.
  23. Does anyone know of any meds we can take with anti-inflammatory properties? I did something to my arm/shoulder and it is not going away, I assume it is some sort of tendinitis an I will be calling my drs office on Monday (not sure if I'd get anyone tomorrow) but was wondering if anyone knew of anything
  24. They may have sedated you, but I highly doubt they gave you general anesthesia for dental work. General anesthesia means you are 100% out and intubated and on a gas anesthetic. The odds of waking up during surgery are very slim. As long as your anesthesiologist is paying attention to your plane of anesthesia you'll be fine. I anesthetize animals all the time.

    SHED SOME LIGHT

It's not krazy glue! It's a surgical grade glue called dermabond. They suture the muscle and fascia closed, ( I know in animals they usually so intradermal sutures, though i do not think I had any) then they glue the outside. Not uncommon at all. Ive never had sutures so I can't comment on the feeling, but the glue holds really well and after 1.5 weeks I was just scraping the glue outside the incision off.
