    How often do you slime?

I've been banded for nearly 6 months and never slimed. And to be honest I probably don't ches that well, but I have barely any fill.

Any of the Frozen dinners good!?

I used to eat the lean cuisine, healthy choice and smart ones all the time. Once I was banded I decided to try and eat only real food rather than all that processed food. Although I still haven't gotten good at cooking and eat the same things all the time. The frozen meals aren't really that good for you. The sodium especially in them is quite high

    NO PRE-OP Say whaaat?!

My surgeon didn't even do it on a patient by patient basis. In the packet that was given out at the seminar it had a one week pre op diet list in it. It is weird because it was probably almost 7 months prior to surgery and I dint think he reminded me to do it before surgery. I still did it
  4. Don't worry slm2007. Prior to getting my Wii in 2009, the last game console I had was the NES (original nintendo). When I was like 8 or something. Personally I like my Wii, but I've never played on the others so I'm biased. I haven't played on it in a while, but I love just dance 2 and Michael Jackson the experience
  5. I agree with this. Unjury was the only one I loved, I tried Bariatric Advantage and took one sip and spit it out. The eas myoplex lite was tolerable. The unjury chicken soup flavor was the only thing that gave me Protein during my clear stage. I had tried the clear Protein Drinks such as Isopure and wanted to vomit

    Scars?

My scars are still dark 6 months out. But I've not put anything on them. But then again I have no intention of ever wearing a bikini, so I really don't care.
  7. Are you going to be standing up at the concert? Because I went out shopping on day 3 and after a couple hours I started to feel a bit nauseas. Went home and felt better. Probably would've felt worse on day 2
  8. You seem to know what you should be doing, you just aren't doing it. I know McDonalds is a trigger food for me. Omg I love their fries, but I know once I go there I just keep craving it. So I can't eat it. The only time I do is if my friends want it while we're on vacation and even then I really don't like eating it because it makes me want it more. I never thought I would count calories, but I decided to get into the right mindset before surgery and I contunue to do it. I love Caesar salads but I know they aren't good for me but when I get one I budget it into my day. I also get the dressing on the side, cut it inhale, take all the chicken put it on one half, then eat it. I have the other half the next day and cook up more chicken to put on it. As for exercise, you should try it, you may grow to like it. I started exercising at probably 280 lb. Went to the gym for many years. 3 months ago I started kickboxing and I love it now, I go 6 times a week. Justcontinue to work it
  9. Reading this keeps reminding me that my 6 months is coming up on the 20th. I really want to be in onederland by then or the week of. I weigh in on Thursday's. I had my first fill on the 25th, lost 3.2lb the week if due to liquids, the next week nothing. Not surprising since I lost a lot (for me at least). I'm hoping I'm down on Thursday, I know I won't make it this week, but pray for next week. That will make me ecstatic. I didn't have a goal before for my six month anniversary, but now that it's so close it is killing me to get there. I'm going to go to a second kickboxing class since I could not go yesterday. I have been doing six classes a week. Everyone is doing so awesome and I know you're all gonna continue to succeed!

    Returning To Work

Depends on how you heal, also if you can go back without lifting patients for a couple of weeks. I'm an LVT and I went back at one week, but did not lift any animals over 25# for the 3.5 weeks. Was supposed to wait 4 weeks, but a dog came in who was like 55# who looked crappy and I had to get him to the back.

    Surgery date- June 14th

I tried one sip of the Isopure and wanted to vomit. They are nasty

    Foodies and Restaurants

I'm not a "high end" eater. But I go out to eat, I love chicken parasean, but now I can make it into 2, sometimes 3 meals and I ask for salad or other veggies instead of pasta (can eat it, but try to avoid doing so). I got the band so k wouldn't be hungry and to help with portions. I only have a little fill in my band. I do not want the band to ever tell me what I can't eat. I may be able to lose faster if I cut out certain things, but I do not want to deprive myself, after all this is a lifestyle change not a total diet

    Setting a goal?

My goal weight is also se at a normal bmi. It is the high end. I will be evaluating as I get closer and see how I loom and feel.
  14. Yes you have to wait the full 6 months if your doc requires it. I was devastated too having to wait, but like Rachal now I am kind of glad I had to wait. I had found this board when I first started this process and I read everyday posts and I saw what to expect. So when it happened I wasn't OMG what is going on. And I wasn't calling my doc for every little discomfort
  15. I'd seen so many people eating it, I'd bought it a while ago just to see what it tastes like and I did not like it at all. I had to add quite a bit of splenda to it to just make it tolerable. Yeah, so I don't eat it. But it does have a good amount of protein in it

    Hiatal Hernia

Most likely they will repair it while they are in there. I don't think you can have one with the band. I think it would cause problems. I had one (did not know prior) and my doc repaired it while he was in there

Went for 1st fill and didn't get one

If you aren't hungry and seem to be losing weight fine, there is no reason to get one. I did not have my first fill til I was 5 months post op and it was only 0.75cc. Which seems to have put my back where I was, so I'm happy. As for you not wanting to get a fill and get an unfill for vacation. That is not how things work. You do not get Fluid removed to go on vacation. This is a lifestyle change and a vacation is part of your life. You get an unfill so you can eat more you will gain weight. And from my understanding a refill of the same amount will not be the same as it was prior. If you were at your sweet spot before, you may not be at it with the new fill

    LEG DOPPLER /H Pylori

They checked during my upper endo for h pylori. I also had to have a leg venous Doppler. I guess my doc requires it for everyone. I mean I have no risk factors for DVT

    broke fingers- pain

When i asked my doc about NSAIDs 2 weeks ago, because I had/have tendinitis in my shoulder. He had no problem with me taking them. He said that rule is for bypass patients. I guess your doc has different thoughts, but mine was fine with it. I took a few doses and it helped tremendously, though sometimes I still feel it
  20. I have no problem getting my water in. In fact I drink at least a gallon a day. I work out 6 days a week. During my workout I drink 32 oz of water. On my way home I usually drink 32 oz of wylers light. So already I have 64 oz. What does it for me is the wylers. For some reason if I drink plain water to fast I get nauseas, it's weird, but I can drink a ton of wylers and be fine.

    Do you miss food/eating?

Do I miss food, sometimes. The thing is I don't truly deprive myself. If I want something I usually have it. Like at work there is a normal vending machine downstairs and those 25 cent ones up front. I like m&ms but I don't want to have to many, so I go to the 25 cent machine and just get a small handful and only do that once. So I just get a little instead of getting a whole bag. I have been craving a chicken quesadilla from taco bell, but when I look at the calories, I don't feel it is worth it. I probably will have one eventually but not right now
  22. My emotions were excitement. I was excited to change my life, excited to feel better, excited to not be depressed. Sure maybe in the back of my mind, I was a tad worried, I know the risks of anesthesia very well. But you know what I don't regret having this surgery for one second. I have not been depressed in over 5 months. And while I still have a ways to go I feel so good and I look 100 ttimes better. (in clothes)

Ahhh i'm going to my 1st fill!!!

I had my first fill 2 weeks ago about and my doc said liquids 2 days, mushies 2 days, and then chopped foods 2 days, then normal. I've been banded 5 months and unfortunately I could not last that long, I did the liquids, and a day and a half of mushies, then ate normally. No problems, I only had a small fill though 0.75 cc. I guess everyone is different
  24. Wow Purpleshell, congrats! You look awesome! I wish I lost as quick as you. I'm so close to onderland and I hope to get there next week, but I'll be content for the week after. Not sure how much I'll lose this week, since I lost 3.4 last week because I had my first fill and was on liquids for 2 days. My friend asked if I wanted to go to Florida in august, and I wasn't sure. So I thought about it and was like, hell that will be my gift to myself for onderland, since there is no way I won't lose 3 lb in 2 months lol. Last time I flew I did not need a seat belt extender, but I'm hoping I'll be even more comfortable this time. Also like I said, I had my first fill 1.5 weeks ago. I had just started to get hungry. And while it was only 0.75cc, I think it put me back where I was. So that is good. Hopefully I'll be able to lose a bit more 'til I need another one. I've never been stuck or anything, (though I think I PB'd water the other day (i think I might have been drinking to much or something) Oh and I am almost out of the woman's section! I bought a pair of capris (first time I've been comfortable wearing anything besides pants in a long time) and I bought a 16w, they felt loose, so I tried on a regular 16 and those felt tight and they were 98% cotton, so I was afraid once I washed them they wouldn't fit. Now I think I should have got them because even after I washed the 16w, they still feel loose. Oh well, I'm gonna need to get some clothes before my trip (don't have enough clothes to wear for 5 days without washing...LOL) so hopefully, I'll get them right before my trip.
  25. I asked my surgeon at my last visit about NSAIDs and he said the rule is for gastric bypass patients not for lap band. So he has no problem with me taking them. But definitely do what your surgeon says
