  1. I agree with this. My doc didn't say don't eat but I Never eat before going to any doctors because I don't want my weight to be up...lol. I kind of regretted it at my last visit because I got my first fill and then was told liquids only for the next 2 days and I was hungry, oh well.
  2. As said you should brag! Congrats!
  3. I've always been constipated. Though for pre op and post op (one week pre and 2 post) while I was on liquids, I had diarrrhea. Not horrendous but annoying. Then I went back to my normalness. At the GI doc I told her about my constipation and she recommended miralax now I take it most days and I'm a lot more comfortable

    Other options!!

Just find a drink that you like. Get samples. Personally I could not even swallow a sip of the bullet. I tried it's so nasty. The clear ones are nasty, I tried mixing crystal light or look aid with them, still disgusting. Unjury makes good shakes though, try those
  5. I can't say I can relate. I've hated my body for a long long time. I've been miserable for so long. I was excited for change. Excited for a better future and not come home from work and be depressed with my life. I wont miss one iota of the old me. I still have a ways to go to where I would like to be, but even if I just stayed where I am right now, my life is already so much better
  6. I don't think anti depressants work period. I started on them when I was like 12. I was on paxil, concerta and one other one, at different times and I was still very depressed. Finally decided to stop taking them and my meds for a stupid diagnosis of ADD, which I don't think I ever had, when I was like 23. Since I started losing weight after I had my surgery I have not really been depressed since. I do have to say when I started antidepressants I wasn't fat
  7. I use livestrong on my iPhone. You can use it online too.

    scared...

    Umm. Ibuprofen is an NSAID.
  9. There was a girl Mandy on here that was having the same problem. She ended up having surgery again to explore and see what the problem was. Unfortunately she ended up having an infection at her band and had to have it removed. Hopefully not your case, but it's something to question
  10. Was 2.5 cc all that was on the band? You need to check and if not need to go in and have the rest removed. Some docs give some fill in surgery, but it seems some people's stomachs swell to much and can't tolerate this. If there is no fluid left in there, I'm not sure

    scared...

I would listen to your doc, but mine has no problem with me taking NSAIDs, he said the rule of not taking them is really only true for bypass patients

    TOM Question

Yeah it's starting now. I've been drinking so much trying to get rid of the bloating. Hopefully it will go now that it's starting
  13. I was banded 6 months ago. For the past year or so, I've been on a 28 day cycle, and I knew when I would get TOM. I even got it right on time 3 days after surgery. Now I'm late, I was due on Thursday and today is monday, I have been PMSing like crazy and I am bloated. I just hit onederland last week and now I'm struggling to stay in it. I do know once TOM finally comes it will hopefully come off, but I'm waiting for it. To answer the question in everyones mind, no, there is no possible way I am pregnant. (I'm 28 and due to weight, confidence, and self esteem issues, I've never even kissed a guy ) Has anyone had this happen. Id say the only thing that is different is my mom recommended B Complex and B 6 to help control TOM symptoms I'd been having. The complex I was taking last month and I'd started taking the B 6 like a week prior to last months TOM. Any advice? I don't know if this seems stupid to ask, but due to the bloating I'm about ready to cry (that sounds stupid), but it is getting me so frusterated, I go to kickboxing 6 days a week, I actually took today off though to see if that would entice her to come, but may make up for it by going twice tomorrow, depending on how I feel. Please help me. TIA
  14. Congrats! Great feeling, isn't it?
  15. One suggestion, not sure if oh works for everyone, but it seems to work for me. Sometes I eat my portion I'm still hungry, I wait half an hour then I drink. The drinking seems to fill me up. So try that it really can help
  16. I'm gonna have a true test of willpower this weekend. I'm going upstate to visit my grandmother and relatives. Now my grandmothers Italian and loves to cook. So it's going to be a bit hat because of course she's a great cook. I'm going to try hard to limit things. I've been hungry and need to make an appointment for a fill so it may be harder. I'm going to bring my rollerblades with me and try to go rollerblading in the mornings so I can have some exercise. I'll be ok just coming back at the same weight, just no gain please.

    Pre-surgical tests..???

Not sure what exactly was my insurance vs my doc. Because at the seminar everyone was given the same test and stuff so it didn't depend on patient history. I'm 28 and have no relevant medical history, yet I was still required to get a sleep study (very mild apnea, only like one in the 5 hours), pulmonary, chest rad, EKG, psych, nutrition, cardiac, etc... Forgot what else

    removal of the lapband

Unless my band was causing me physical harm there is no way I'd get it removed. I'm not sure how much it is helping then just giving me motivation, but I'd rather die than even risk going back to where I was. I know it sounds awful, but it's true. I had been in a very bad place for so long. So I would not want to take the chance

    A fill?

A fill should not depend on how much wright you've lost. A fill is not going to make you lose weight. It may in the beginning die to going back to liquids for a couple days. But you are the only one that is going to make you lose weight and you are in control in what you put in your mouth. I'm hungry (need to get a little more fill) , bug I'm still losing weight just fine because I portion out my meals and eat that and then 1/2 hour later I drink to control the hunger (which is why I need another small fill). The fills are really just to control your hunger. I didn't get my first one till I was 5 months post op. Am I losing super quick lime some others, no, but I'm happy at my weight loss and I'm learning to eat better and count calories. So if you dong feel starving, don't get a fill

    pancreatitis

Not with endoscopy. They can't see your pancreas with the scope. As stated above amylase and lipase levels, as well as ultrasound. The pancreas is very small and can be hard to see but if you have it they can see inflammation and such on ultrasound.
  21. I'm an LVT, (animal nurse) and I took a week. I just avoided lifting anything over like 25# for the next 2.5 weeks. Then I went back to lifting 50+ # animals. I was sore bending over and getting up from the lower cages, but nothing to bad. At day 4 post op I was starting to get real bored at home, and I felt I could've gone back on like day 5.

    I'm confused....too little calories?

At 1500 calories your body will not go into starvation made. Most of the people here eat around 1200. Some like 800-1100. I consider starvation mode to be around 600 calories. Your body might stall after some weight naturally just giving itself time to adjust. The lap band will work how you choose to let it, it won't stop you from eating a cheeseburger and fries. In time, once it's adhered right it should tell you, I'm satisfied, I've eaten enough. It won't physically stop you from eating (not unless you have it to tight, which isn't good). When I had good restriction in the beginning (it's seemed to wear off, now I need to get fills to get back to it) I wasn't hungry for about 4-5 hours and then my stomach would grumble and let me know I was hungry. So I've never had zero hunger, but that is what it is supposed to do. Yes you'll have plateaus, also you may not lose much the first 6 weeks due to healing and, in my eyes, starvation mode, since I was only supposed to eat small amounts and it took til week 5 to get my calories back to over 1000. So I hope this helped
  23. You lost 15 # in 5 days! Your body needs to adjust to that. Also some people dint Lise on very low calorie diets. Like me, I could lose for the first week pre op then nothing until I got my calories back up to 1100-1200. So you know the first 6 weeks post op is about weight loss, don't get frustrated if you stall in your weighloss during this time

    Eating Time

I eat in like 15 minutes. I'm an LVT in the ER, and some days I'm lucky if I even get a break. Which is one reason I'd never allow myself to get so tight, because it's either eat quick or don't eat ...lol
  25. Definitely fills don't make you lose weight. I didn't have my first fill til 5 months post op. Now I'm still hungry amost of the time bug I'm still losing weight because I portion my food and only eat that. I try to curb my hunger with water. I need to make an appointment for another fill to help curb my hunger. So, really it's up to you if you lose weight or not. If you fill your hunger with food, you probably won't lose, but if you do other things to help curb it. You'll lose
