    Food Police

That's one reason there's only a few people that know about my surgery. I thought if I told people they'ed scrutinize what I ate. In fact my mother kind of pissed me off a couple of months ago. I met up with my dad and he took me out to dinner and I asked him what my mom had said about it (I had a feeling she would have something to say). And he told me she said, you shouldn't take her to dinner she's supposed to be on a diet. Wtf? Yeah, so until I'm at or close to goal, no one else is knowing

    water with meals

For the most part I don't drink with meals but I don't have a problem if I do drink with meals. If I'm out to eat I usually drink because there is water in front of me and I think I kind of forget, bug haven't had a problem. When I'm home/at work I don't bring my drink with me so I don't do it. But I do drink right up to eating sometimes and I wait usually minimum of 30 minutes after
  3. You need to get your band COMPLETELY unfilled. You should be able to eat. You're probably not losing because you're not getting enough calories in. You should NEVER have gotten a first fill if you couldn't eat to begin with. If you had told your doc about not being able to eat and he still gave you a fill, then sorry, but your doc is an idiot. If you can't eat solids without pain and or pbing or vomiting you are in the red zone. See Alex's green zone post in the post op thread. You are not supposed to be in pain when you eat. So please go get all your fluid removed and give your stomach time to rest, since I'm sure it's very irritated.

    Discouraged ?

First of all congrats on your weight loss so far! Second, you say you've never PB'd, gotten stuck, slimed, had any issues. Well why do you want to? I've been banded 6 months, had one fill at 5 months of only 0.75 cc, I've never had any issues either, never been stuck or slimed or anything and I'd rather not. I do have some restriction, but a lot of this I'm doing on my own and I'm fine with that. I'm portioning my meals, eating mostly the right stuff (do cheat at work when there's junk around, which I gotta improve on that). I am going to get another small fill when I go back just to help me a little more since I'm still kind of hungry. I say if you're losing weight, keep doing what you're doing, then when you slow change it up.
  5. There's really not much you can do, it has to do with how long you've been overweight, age, genetics etc. I'm 28, I have a ways to go sti but so far my stomach is doing ok, arms may be a little flabby. I'm losing slowly though and I think that helps. I think if you lose to fast your skin may not adjust as much

    Three pounds a week

It really depends on your body, everybody is different. For me, I do kickboxing 6 days a week and eat 1200 or less calories and I'm ecstatic if I lose 2#/ week

    No fills

If you're feeling satisfied with what you are eating there is absolutely no reason to get one. I did not get my first one til 5 months post op. My doc doesnt seem to even encourage them ( he didn't mention one until I said I was beginning to feel hungry at 5 months). I am still hungry now but I put off making an appointment, now the soonest I could get one was not til the 14th:(. Oh well a little more time to decide if I really want one. But if you don't feel hungry between meals, there's no need.
  8. First week post op, I maybe got 30 grams of protein per day. I wasn't concerned, once I got to full liquids the second week, I got much closer to my requirements
  9. Blah, I'm in kind of a funk these past 2 weeks. I hit 199#, then TOM came and went and I can't seem to move past. Doing the same things, kickboxing 6 days a week. Not sure if I should play with my calories. I do 1200. Should I try to go up a tiny bit? Should I go down? Idk. I need to make an appointment to get a 2nd fill. I've been hungry and I think I would like a little more. Also I've been letting things annoy me which is really bothering me. I haven't really felt this way since before surgery, I'd been feeling awesome, now I can't seem to get myself out of this. I think once the scale starts moving again I'll feel better.
  10. I knew it was surgery and knew it was going to hurt. I have a decent tolerance for pain. The first day I was like omg what did I do, took pain meds. The second day was soo much better and I took the pain meds a few times. The third day was pretty good. The only reason I took the pain mess was because I started my period and I get bad cramps. Luckily I took it once and kicked all the pain for the rest of the day. I may have taken liquid tylenok once or twice after that, can't remember. But I was a bit surprised how quickly the pain subsided. I was still sore getting out of bed and such, but nothing nearly painful that I needed pain meds for it. I did take the gas x strips. I did not have a lot of gas pain, a little in my arm when I was sitting.
  11. You need to go to your doc. If you do have aspiration pneumonia you need to get it treated. It's just as bad a regular pneumonia.
  12. Congrats Dave! So awesome!

    weight loss

First 6 weeks is about healing, not about weight loss. Also 5-6 # in 3 weeks is normal weight loss. You should not expect to lose more than 1-2# per week. This is not bypass.
  14. I'm sure she meant now she does protein bars. I would definitely not do bars during your liquid stage

    85 lbs in 1 year??

Totally realistic, but it's really up to you and how much you put into it too. I'm now just over 6 months and I'm almost at 50#. While it is slower than a lot I'm happy with it and I do kickboxing a lot so I'm pretty sure some of the fat is turning into muscle and if I didn't do it I'd probably have more weight loss. But so far, my skin I'd bouncing back so I'm ok with it.

    Compliments

It's gotten a little easier but I'm trying to make myself better at it. Some people just don't know when to stop though and I wanna smack them. I've never been good with compliments someone says you look good, my answer is no I dont. There's this one vet at work who says I lost so much weight everytime she sees me and I just wanna smack her. Yesterday I told her, yeah thanks my goal is to become invisible LOL. Well I don't like her much to begin with. She's this eternally happy person who every single client she days is the nicest person. Gag I wanna scream. But I'm getting off topic. as you start to feel better about yourself as a person and the way you look it starts to get easier. I still hard it ghough
  17. Absolutely, I rarely drink protein shakes and I get more than enough protein. I only drink shakes now is after a fill. Or if I'm having a little mini plateau and I feel I need to get myself back on track I'll do a day of of 2 shakes and dinner or protein shakes just to jumpstart me. Which I think I'll be doing on Tuesday because I'm struggling right now.
  18. I take vitafusion gummies multiple vitamin, also their fiber gummies too. I also take the generic viactiv calcium + D chews. I know I can take regular pills, but in the past I'd always forget to take them and since I started the gummies I haven't forgotten, it like my treat in the morning

    Nasty antibiotic

I wasn't on ABs after surgery. Just pain meds which were nasty tasting but I never was good with taking liquid mess, but I managed to swallow it, only took it for 2 days though. I don't think most people are on AB s post surgery. Which I thought was strange because all the animals I work with get them post surgery. Though I guess humans are better about keeping themselves clean...lol

    Lost In The Journey

Instead of getting a fill you need to eat more. If you're only eating once a day you probably arent getting enough calories in. I guess if you're truly not hungry drink a protein shake or 2 at least. Definitely do not get a fill!
  21. My coverage at work fell through and I couldn't go on my trip, so I don't have to worry about that. I will go to my parents for a BBQ on Monday though. I'm sure I'll be fine there.
  22. I eat popcorn all the time! The 100 calorie bags. Last time I went to the movies I treated myself and got a small and ate 1/2 of it. I was so proud of myself for stopping at 1/2

    Feet size

I really hope my feet shrink in width. I really don't care about length really. My feet are wide and I have a he'll of time finding shoes/sneakers that are comfortable. I even had to get men's rollerblades just do I'd have a little more width. And I still get a blister on my foot everytime I wear them. I've lost 47# (I think) since banding and over 100# since my highest weight and I don't believe they've shrunk yet

    Where to start?

For the first 2 months post op all I did was the elliptical for 30-40 min and then stregth training for 40 min or so. I was doing elliptical for years prior to my surgery and started strength a couple months prior. Now I do kickboxing 6 days a week.
