Had to look, since your screen name says 2011. According to your profile, you were just banded on July 2nd, and you have a BMI of 34.4. IMHO there is NO WAY I would get an RNY with a BMI that low. In fact I would not get it in general. Due to the reasons reverie mentioned above. I'm sorry but your 1 month post op and already thinking of a different sx? Did you not think before you got the band?

Amount/volume of food during mushies
Jess55 replied to Coco's Mum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My post op meal plan said 1/4 cup of food 3 times per day during the mushie stage. Everyones is different though -
It shouldn't, seven days post op I was so bored I decided to go back to work, the night before we had a snow storm that dumped over a foot of snow. Well, like I said I wanted to go to work, so I shoveled my car out. Probably not the best idea, but I did it and I was kind of worried. 3 weeks or so later I had a barium swallow (my doc does it within the first month) and everything was fine

I've had a polar heart rate monitor that I've loved from the beginning. However it's like 6 years old or so and lately I don't trust it very much. Though I just think it's time to replace it, it was excellent for years. I've been toying around with getting a bodymedia fit , same as body bugg, but haven't done it yet. The polar has a chest strap, theyhave men's and woman's models so I assume the men's strap is larger. At my heaviest I could wear it it was just stretched (don't know how big my chest was though) I've been noticing I have to keep tightening it more, yay!

I'm sorry but I don't see how you should get stuck with an empty band. I'm 7 months post op I only have a fill of 0.75 cc and I've NEVER gotten stuck, slimed , or pb'd, and I have to say I dont really chew well at all. Obviously at one week you still have to much swelling and you should be on at least mushies if you've gotten stuck. Sorry but it's true.

Well if you can't eat now without getting stuck, do not get a fill on Wednesday!

I agree with Dave. You have to be completely ready, in all areas. In my opinion you can't try one diet and just give up and say I want surgery. I tried dieting but I lost and then went off track and gained back. I got to the point that I was at the end of my road, depressed to much of the time, felt horrible. I always say, I wish I'd done this sooner and in a way I do, but I dont know if I was completely ready before. I have now completely changed my mind set. Without that, it won't work. The first 5 months I didn't really get hungry between meals, not common for most, but at my 5 month visit, I decided I wanted my first fill, it helped a little in the beginning, but not long. Though I'm now 7 months post op and I don't want another because though I do get hungry, I've changed my mindset and I just eat by calories. If I have the calories I eat, if I don't I'll drink crystal light to curb the hunger. I eat anything I want just try to in moderation. In the past I'd screw up and say screw it to the whole day. Now if I screw up, I'll just skip dinner or something to balance my calories. Maybe not the best idea, since then my Protein intake is low, but it seems to work for me. So if you think your ready, go for it, if not, I would wait.

I know the feeling, once I hit like 208, I started to get real excited for onederland, then it seemed to take forever to get there!

Question post-op about ab workout
Jess55 replied to dmg223's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, if that's true I'm in trouble, I do crunched and Sirius and everything 6 days a week at kickboxing. Yes, I do feel the port pull sometimes, and I've been doing it since about 3 months post op. I've never heard of a doc not allowing you to do AB exercises. -
i am so tired of explaining to people
Jess55 replied to joleng5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is one reason I told very few people, my parents, outside my immediate family -
I would want to reward myself with a breast lift. Though a cruise sounds awesome! I went on my first one when I graduated college with my family I had a good time. I think it will be more fun when I'm not morbidly obese.

how long were you in the hospital? out of work?
Jess55 replied to Sabrina140's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a physical job, I took one week, felt I could've gone back sooner. If I had a desk job I think 4 days off would have sufficed. Also I had an outpatient procedure and I was at the hospital at 8 and home by 2 or 3. -
So am I just being too picky with these darn protein shakes?
Jess55 replied to JinTx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally like unjury brand. You can get a sample package on their website. I tried Bariatric advantage and wanted to vomit too. -
Questions about the lap band surgery
Jess55 replied to BRANDON17's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Painful? I was in pain when I woke up but got much better after a coupledoses of fentanyl (I believe that's what they gave me in the hospital) the rest of that day I was regretting my decision,( at home) when the pain meds weren't in effect. The next day I was a lot better, still uncomfortable, butmuch better. Third day I only took the meds once and then that was it, still sore, but I did not need meds. Everyone has a different pain threshold. The weight loss rate is what you make of it. It will be faster if you have more to lose, but you need to eat right to make it work. Don't think you don't need to watch yourself. If you can't exercise right away, some people don't and still lose, but I would definitely start when you can. As for steak, well it depends. Some people can't eat it, some people can. I have barely any fill and I can eat whatever I want. As for having it removed, it usually is not removed unless there are complications. It's supposed to last, also there is a risk you'll regain the weight. -
I agree with reverie, you do not have to be tight and you're putting yourself at risk for complications. To the OP, I know that you're frustrated, but I'm sure having a baby might've thrown you off, just jump back on the horse. You can start back with the basics, focus on Protein. Start counting calories, go do some exercise. You can do it!

How happy are you with your body as you are losing weight?
Jess55 replied to Joleen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dressed, I'm happy with the way I look right now. Still have a bit of weight loss left, but I look 1000x better than before in my eyes. I saw a picture of myself from when I was about my heaviest and I was in total shock! I never thought I was that big and I was sickened of letting myself get that way! Now naked I am still having a lot of rolls, but the good thing is so far no real loose skin. The only parts I'm really worried about is my lower stomach, which still is fat, so hopefully the skin will shrink, and my inner thighs, but the same still fat, so hope for the best. -
Wow the original post is from 2003! Well any ways, I have no problem getting in my water. 6 days a week I go kickboxing, I drink one 32 oz bottle of water while I'm there (sometimes more), I drink 32 oz of wyler's (crystal light type flavoring) on the car ride home. That's already 64 oz. I drink at least 3 more 32 oz bottles if wylers throughout the day, sometimes more. Like others I was told no drinking 30 min before and like 45 minutes after. I sometimes ignore the before if I'm thirsty, I usually only do 30 minutes after.

I know how good that feels! On previous diets I'd only gotten down to a 2XL in scrubs and shirts and stuff. The day I was like ok let me try and the XL scrubs fit I felt the best I'd felt in years. It's a great feeling and congrats!!! Recently I started wearing large scrubs, though the pants are a little uncomfortable still, I was pulling my XL pants up every 5 minutes and that was really annoying.

How do you deal with in between clothing sizes?
Jess55 replied to jennifer1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the scrubs right now I'm to small for XL, but the large is like skin tight. It was either pulling up my XL pants every 10 min or so and they looked like parachute pants on me. Or deal with somewhat uncomfortable pants. I chose the latter after deciding my larger pants were just to annoying. Hopefully I'll lose an once or two in my hips (the waist is completely fine) and they'll feel much mor comfortable -
Punishing myself? Sabotaging myself? Testing my band? PLEASE help. :(
Jess55 replied to RedheadGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The band is not going to stop you from eating cookies, candy and sweets. YOU have to control that. I eat them (if they are at work, I don't bring it into my house) but I moderate it and I add it into my daily calories. Even if you can eat what you did pre band, you shouldnt. I know you don't have restriction yet but you need to try. The band is not going to do everything.8. It is ok to be a little hungry. If your hungry drink, that helps me a lot. You can do this! -
Any Regrets after Lap Band Surgery ?
Jess55 replied to SumthinsGottaGive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No regrets at all! Though I kind of wish I did it sooner, but not sure if I was truly ready. Also, the band has given me some restriction, but not a ton (I could get more if I wanted) buy I feel a lot af this is just me and I'm just finally dieting right and the band gave me the kick in thd ass to actually do OT right. So not totally sued if I needed the band -
Are your fills done under Fluoroscopy, or Standard way?
Jess55 replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've only had one tiny fill, but it was the standard way, no fluoro. When I read early on about some docs using lidocaine, I said to myself I'm gonna tell my doc just do the fill, no need to numb it. My doc doesn't numb it. Why would you want to be stuck twice when I didn't even feel the fill needle. And it from what I saw it looked like a 20 gauge needle which is decently big and I still didn't feel it. But I stab myself with needles regularly at work (accidently) so I'm kinda used to ot -
Ah an ER fan! I LOVE ER!! An MRI would just attract the metal and alter the image and be a magnet to it so your ring would stuck to it while it's still on your finger. It might have to do with electrocautery. If they have to use it the cautery could burn you where the metal is, in theory. They do use cautery pads which attract the cautery to it. But I don't know if they use cautery laporascopically. I would think only if they did a open procedure.

I'm not sure how you lose weight, but I seem to have good weeks, then slower weeks, or I lose nothing at all or I may go up a little. But even with weeks I didn't lose or gain a little, it all evens out in the end, I'm still averaging 1.5 # per week. So it could just be your body adjusting
