Keep with it, the more you work out the better you'll feel. I know I've tried taking days off (not my normal off day on Tuesday) and the rest of the day I just feel so out of sorts and sluggish. I workout in the mornings, since I work 3 swing shifts a week, and one morning (that's the day I take off). So it helps get my day going.

my doc wants to see me every month for the first year regardless of fill or not. I'm 9 months post op and I've only had one tiny one. Definitely a fill is up to you. My doc wanted to give me one earlier this month, due to slow weight loss. I declined it because I had a feeling what was wrong and I wanted to try to adjust before I got one. Changed things up (started eating more) and I started losing again.

I took off one week. I have a pretty physical job. I'm an LVT. Basically an animal nurse. So I'm on my feet 10 hour shifts walking lifting and everything. I had little pain post op. Took pain meds the first 2 days. Very little shoulder pain, only when I was sitting down and it wasn't terrible. I feel I could've gone back on day 5. I even dug my car out from under a foot of snow on day 7 to go back to work

I'm not really upping anything in particular, but one think I've done is I have upped my protein by adding in a protein drink. I also aged in a trail mix, so upped healthy fats in the form of nuts. I had been slacking on protein and only getting like 70 gm, no I try to aim for 120 minimum. -

Agreed. I plateaued and I exercise 6 days a week, yet I was only eating 1200 calories. I realized my deficit was away to big. I've been slowly upping my calories, 1400, 1500, now at 1600. Guess what it worked. Losing better than ever. Give it a shot, I was scared to do it. -
Do U use Lap band ID for Kiddie/Sr/Smaller meals
Jess55 replied to stratcat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not assertive at all. I don't have a card, nor would I ever feel comfortable using it. I don't go out much, so if I do I'd just order regular and bring home leftovers. I've ordered bunless hamburgers out and just asked for a salad instead of fries, I've only had one place say no and I got up and left. -
Could it be possible I dont need a fill?
Jess55 replied to tennisloverxox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're losing weight and not hungry, there is no reason to get a fill. I only have a fill of 0.75 ml at almost 9 months out. My doc wanted to give me a fill at my last check up because I told him I plateued for 3 weeks and had only lost 4 lb in 6 weeks. I declined it, because I had started losing again and I wanted to try something different which was eat more calories (which I did not tell him). Do you know what though, it's working. -
How much weight do you expect to lose in your 1st month?
Jess55 replied to Mangofish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
9 lb. That was lost 1 week post op, then I went up and down a couple till week 5 and lost 2. -
Showering-- How soon after surgery?
Jess55 replied to faz1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told no showering for 24 hours. My incisions were closed with dermabond. What I did was I stood mostly with my back to the shower so the spray wouldn't go right on the incisions and my stomach was sore so it would've hurt to. So just maybe take a washcloth and gently clean your stomach area, definitely do not scrub over the incisions. If you want to loofah the rest of your body go right ahead. I was banded on Monday and I think showered Wednesday morning -
my stomach is making some crazy noises!
Jess55 replied to Losing_It150's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think for like 4 months or so my stomach was making weird noises. Not hunger, just noisy. I'm 8.5 months out now and I can't recall it making that noise in a quite a while. So it should eventually go away. -
SF Fudgecicles okay during liquid diet?

Advise as I consider lap band surgery
Jess55 replied to newnurse1999's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What sagetracy said. What I realized is that you need to be 100% ready to change things. If I hadn't been ready thus would not be working. As has been said the band is a tool and you need to work it. Diet and exercise. It is not gonna lose the weight for you. Read the forums and you'll see -
I actually recently increased my calories to break through a plateau and I've incorporated nuts into my diet. They are high calorie for a small amount and have healthy fats. I got emerald 100 calorie packs and they are very small. Since I've upped my calories I have been finding it hard to get enough and these help. Or even if you need to peanut butter. I know I could just eat it off a spoon (though I have to be careful controlling myself with it) but again high calorie and healthy fats.

I find some doctors follow up interesting. My doc wants me back every month for the first year regardless if I need a fill or not. I think he said after a year it's every three months. I would think they'd want to monitor your progress and make sure you're successful. As for the pressure, not sure, I've only had one tiny fill. Maybe swelling. Id say if it lasts more than a few days to a week call him or go back. As for the wait in the waiting room my last visit was the quickest I've ever been called in, usually I wait for an hour, last time it was only like 15 or 20 minutes.

SF Fudgecicles okay during liquid diet?
Jess55 replied to Stargurrl*'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Technically they're not sugar free. They still have 2 grams of sugar, just none added. I Love them I always have a box in my freezer, only 40 calories and taste so good. I didn't use them on my clear diet, but on full liquids I did. But like I said I still have them all the time -

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys! We were all the way back on page 7! Just wanted to check in. I'm doing fantastic! I lost 4.2 lb this week! Though some of it was water retention from TOM last week (where I still lost 1 lb), so It still is a loss. Went to the doc last week and he wanted to give me a fill, because I was only down 4 lb in 6 weeks. (thanks to my plateau), but I declined. I wanted to try eating more first . I didn't tell him this though. But OMG it is working and I couldn't be happier. I've had no complications, ever, but I'm starting to kind of regret getting the surgery. Because it seems it just gave me the kick in the ass I needed to do things right. I'm in no way saying that it is bad to have the surgery, but just maybe in the past I wasn't ready enough and I didn't try hard enough. I hope you guys understand this. Though maybe, the restriction I had for the first 5 months was helpful to change my ways too. So I don't know. Oh Dave - I absolutely love my body media fit! Except, I do not believe the calories it said I burned today during my almost hour long rollerblading. I've heard the readings are off for things like a bike and stuff, and I think they are off for that too. My HRM used to say I burned over 400 in 45 minutes, and this only gave me 348 for 58 minutes. The online calculator said I should burn 807 in 60 minutes (that may be high), but 348 is way to low. Joan- I'm hoping your slip is going back into place I hope everyone else is doing great. Check in and let us know! -
OK I've got another question- How do you all feel about drinking fluids with a meal?
Jess55 replied to pinklily27's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The majority of the time, I do not drink with meals. If I go out to eat (which is rare unless I'm away from home) I do drink with my meal. Not like I used to. I think it is just habit, since at home I don't bring a drink to the table with me, but at a rester aunt you can be sure there is water on the table. I do occasionally have a soda too. (Diet) -
Port Site Looks "Sunken in"?!?!
Jess55 replied to bdjohns's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not recently banded, but as I've lost weight my incisions, more so my port incision seem indented too, like I've lost more fat from their. Must have something to do with the actual trauma to it. -
Banded 12/20/10 and down 62.4 lb as of today. Not as quick as some but I'm very happy and I barely have a fill and I don't want one. Is this horrible of me to say, but my sister is now bigger than I am and I'm happy about it.

I got Wii Zumba yesterday and tried it today. Yeah, I'm uncoordinated. Well it was fun though. Only tried the first session though. Can't wait to unlock the higher ones

Getting Banded During Jewish Holidays?
Jess55 replied to need2lose2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm half Jewish and half Christian. I wanted to get it done as soon as possible. I had it done 5 days before Christmas. Did I feel bad eating jello and protein drinks while my family was having dinner, sure, but I knew what I had to do. Think about it, the sooner your do it, the sooner you'll lose weight and feel better, and you won't have to worry about eating at the holidays.
