I do kickboxing 5 days a week. Classes are and hour each, last 15 minutes being abs. I do elliptical for a hour once a week too, and I take one day off. I like the elliptical, cause I can just blast my iPod and just rock out to music. I occasionally just dance around my apartment too. Usually on Wednesdays before kickboxing I do train to failure, lift heavy weights until my muscles give out. Only supposed to do this once a week, to give your muscles a chance to rest, so no to actually build muscle, just tone and get tiny muscles.

after surgery food in the house question
Jess55 replied to pendulum's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is what I do. But I am very different from most banisters. I do not have restriction almost 11 months post op. Not because I can't seem to find the so called "green zone" I have never gone seeking after it. I do have a little restriction in a way that if I do eat too eat to much, I feel like crap. But I can eat more thn the 1 cup of food. I've learned a different way to lose weight, and in some ways I regret having surgery. But I eat everything in moderation of course. I have NO foods I don't or can't eat. So what I do is this, if I want a piece of chocolate, I'll go to 7-11 and the ones around me usually have fun sized snickers and Peanut Butter cups. So I'll get one of those to satisfy my craving. Or I'll go to the mall and go to the frozen yogurt place, which has fat free frozen yogurt at 27 calories per ounce. Kind of sucks because it's a bit more expensive this way, but I do still have lack of will power so I know if its in the house I will eat the whole bag or whole container. Also I've started eating nuts, but I have to portion them out right when I open the bag, or else I will eat more thn I should. For some reason if they are already portioned won't go into the portioned bags. -
Have you reached a plateau???
Jess55 replied to poopgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For those of you who are struggling, keep pushing through. Like I said I've been plateaued for 2 months. I kept pushing on even though the scale wasn't moving. A few days ago the scale was down a pound, but I needed to see it for a few days before I would believe it, well it's still down, 1.4 lbs so I'm making it official. I think I broke through my plateau!!! Now hope it moves again next week too. Unfortunately thanks to this plateau I didn't come near my goal for my sisters wedding on Sunday. But, I still look 100 times better than when I started this journey, so I'll take it. -
If you're not hungry between meals, there is no need to get a fil. A fill will not make you lose weight (though you may lose some just due to liquids after). (I see you were banded Oct. 13. It is normal not to really lose weight the first six weeks. So go to your appointment, just for a weigh in/check up, but you should not get a fill.

Can't eat much in morning
Jess55 replied to Kellysue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate breakfast up until I got my first and only tiny fill 0.75 cc. After that eating breakfast made me feel like I had a brick in my stomach, so I just ate like a string cheese to hold me over for my workout. Realized that wasn't the best, so now I just have a premier chocolate protein shake (Costco) and it gives my protein a jumpstart with 30 grams. -
BodyMedia Fit or Body Bugg
Jess55 replied to Shelley64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a BMF and I love it. You're supposed to only wear it 23 hours per day, but I can never keep it off an hour. I hate to not have the exact calories I burned during that hour. Helpped me realize I had way to large of a daily calorie deficit. I love to see how much I really burn during my workouts, and push myself to burn even more. -
Hello! I am trying to be helpful. You've had one surgery already and not to long post op either and you're looking to have a different surgery. How bout taking some advice on how to lose weight with this procedure! You ARE putting your body into starvation mode with that amount of calories. And personally I believe any doctor who tells you to eat that low is an idiot! Especially if you are working out 5 times per week. Your body has nothing to make it go. I know immediately post op when I was eating that low the scale did not move.

500-600 calories?!? That is way to low! You need to eat more. I know it may seem counterproductive, but those numbers are way to low. Your not giving your body ANY nutrition to function off of.

Have you reached a plateau???
Jess55 replied to poopgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya, been here for 2 months about. I just know I'm doing the right things and my body will eventually give in. Though the scale isn't moving, I have lost a couple inches. -
I've been going to the gym for many years before banding. I started with maybe 20-30 minutes a couple times a week. Now I do Kickboxing usually 5 times a week, an hour each time. And I do the elliptical for an hour 1 times per week. One time I week I do train to failure (push my muscles to failure with weights) So I workout like 6 hours per week. Though recently I've done more like 7 hours. Do longer kickboxing twice a week. I feel so lazy if I take off a day, besides my usual rest day.

Who's has experienced a New NSV Lately ?
Jess55 replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I FINALLY went and donated my old clothes! I don't know why, I haven't gotten rid of any since I began my journey. I've had a lot of them in bags for a while, but refused to get rid of them. So today I went and dropped them off at the salvation army. I got rid of 3XL, 2XL, and XL clothes and everywhere from like 24-14 size pants. There is no turning back now! I will refuse to buy any clothes larger than I am now, which is a Large top and size 12 jeans. Of course I would love to be smaller than this, but the way my confidence and feelings are now, if I stay this size I would be thrilled. But I do long for smaller. Also I was thrilled last week, when I went to Old Navy and fit into all their clothes. I had brought different styles of size 14 jeans into the fitting room with me, only to find that while they fit, there was a big gap in the back and I knew if I bought them once they stretched after I wore them, they would be to big. So I tried on a 12 and it was snug but I knew they would be better to buy. So I bought it. Though I ended up finding a pair of Lee's at Kohls that were still 12s but fit me better, so I need to return the one's from Old Navy. But still, I'm a 12!! Now if only I can get the scale moving again! -
Sounds like you have a slip. You need to see your doc NOW, not in 2 weeks. Get on the phone an keep at it, until the doc sees you. If not you might have to just go to the ER and at least get unfilled and then find a new surgeon. If I were you I would never have used that doc to begin with, they should have prepared you for your surgery and I'm sorry, but you should not have rushed it through even if your insurance was changing. My insurance changed 3 months before my surgery and again (back to my old one), like 6 months after. But get on the phone NOW!!! Or just go to the ER, keeping nothing down, you'll quickly become dehydrated and be in the ER anyways.

I think the being happy part is all what you make of it. I was miserable before starting to lose weight, no real friends, no life, no nothing. I was very depressed. Now I've lost weight, I feel so much better about myself. I still don't really have any good friends. The one person I am kind of closest to, is not really a good friend after she claims she forgot we were going to the movies a few months ago, I just realized she pretends to be everyone's friends. Though I'm still kind of friends with her. But still, have a tiny bit more of a life. I enjoy going to kickboxing 5 mornings a week. So you just have to make yourself happy.

I don't see why people recommend that. Why in the world should people expose themselves to radiation if not medically necessary? I unfortunately do. I hold animals at work for radiographs and while I don't get fills I would not want them to use fluoroscopy if not neccessarily. There are a few people in my practice who've had cancer and won't hold for rads anymore because of the cancer risk.

While I definitely understand your view sanction. A lot of people post OMG I had the hiccups, that is no where needed to call your surgeon in the middle of the night. Yes they can be called, but even surgeons have lives and are not on call 24/7. There is someone 24/7, but may not neccessarily be your surgeon. Like the post about someone's port coming loose, again not an emergency. Does it suck? Absolutely, but you're not freaking dying. As for the post with chest pains, if they're as bad as the title made it out to be, I would probably go to the ER not wait for my doc to call me back for advice. I'm just saying what I feel, as I am not a worry wart. 10 days post op I had severe heartburn for like an hour at a time once a day for 3 days. I didn't call my doc, I said if it happens again I'll call, and guess what? It never did. I think most all the posts I've seen include. If you're really worried contact your doctor. I've not seen anyone claim to say that their advice is golden

Phase1 protein drink recommendatons
Jess55 replied to depressed_bandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I tried the isopure clear drinks and could nt stand it. The only protein I ended up getting during the first week, was from the Unjury protein broth. Didn't taste to bad. I tried multiple clear drinks and couldn't stand any of them, even when I tried to dilute it out. So basically during one week post op, I got maybe 30g of protein per day, if that. -
That is awesome. I love that feeling. I've been plateaued for 2 months, but something must be happening because yesterday I bought size 12 jeans. I was so happy! I was like I guess I'm officially out of plus sized clothes now. YEEHAAH

Can I hurt my band with exercise?
Jess55 replied to onmyway11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really don't think you can slip your band with exercise. I could be wrong though, I just don't see how. Your band should be sutured to your stomach and from my understanding the "slip" is not the band itself moving but your lower stomach pushing up through the band. While I've not done a workout that intense, I think 6 weeks should be ample time for healing. -
I went to the Bahamas 7 weeks post op. I had no problems at all.
-
All docs have different regimens, check with yours at your post op. My doc cleared me for cardio, and I took that as going hard on my 9 day post op visit. I didn't actually start til 2 weeks post op. He told me to wait I think 2-3 more weeks to start lifting. I started a little earlier than he said since, I had to for work, I had to get a critical about 50 lb dog to the back quickly for treatment. But oh well. After that I started back on the weight machines at the gym, with no problems. I understand the cabin fever, I took a week off work post op, and I was feeling pretty good by day 4 and I was getting so bored at home. Especially since I live alone with my dogs, so no real human interaction...LOL. I even dug my car out of a foot of snow to go back to work that monday, because I was so bored. (probably should not have done that and I never told my doc I did, but 10 months post op, no damage done.)

First day of mushy foods,Im starving so why am I scared to eat?
Jess55 replied to sheriah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 months out and I have never vomited. My band is basically empty though. If you vomit eating mushies then there is a problem, usually only if they filled your band intra op -
Liquids out is normal when all you're taking in is liquids.

I've been at the same weight for the past month too. It truly sucks, but I know I'm doing things right and I am trying to work on body fat during this time. Doing heavy weights once a week til my muscles give out. DOing that for 3 weeks now, may be inhibiting the scale. But I'm sure it will start moving soon, for both of us.
-
I have Chinese food almost once a week. I just dont have it a couple days before weigh in. The sodium usually makes the scale go up.

How long did it take you to start liking working out?
Jess55 replied to ms.lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to find something that you do enjoy. I'd been going to they gym for many years, but I'm with you, it kind of just felt like something I have to do. After a while it got to be a little bit enjoyable, hop on the elliptical and blast my iPod, but it was still just meh. Once I started kickboxing I really enjoyed it. Now I love doing it and I really hope one day I join some sort of other martial arts, like karate or taekwondo. I do still enjoy a little getting on the elliptical and blasting my music.
