Really Truly When Might I Expect To Be Back To Work
Jess55 replied to JustDoIt130's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what you described, I'd say you'd probably be able to go back Monday. I took a week off, I have a physical job and by day 4 I was bored and kind of ready to go back. I only took the pain meds for 3 days and only once on day 3. I'm 13 months post op and the bottle is still in my cabinet like 3/4 full (probably should chuck it soon) lol. I went back on day 7 and to get to work I dug my car out from under a foot of snow I was so bored at home. (I would not recommend doing that, I never told my doc, I'm sure that's not recommended 7 days post op lol. -
Eating Solids Three Weeks After Surgery
Jess55 replied to s2trees's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure I could have eaten solids at like 4 days post op, I felt fine besides soreness at that point, but I knew I needed to heal so I followed my docs orders ( for the most part, I admit to having some chips 11 days post op on new years but I went right back to the post op diet). Though I was a lucky one, I didn't go through bandster hell. I wasn't hungry between meals til about 4-5 months post op. So I know you can eat solids, but I recommend following your docs orders and healing and go back to eating mushies (or whatever you're supposed to be on) -
I go to kickboxing 5 days a week. I do stregth training to failure one day (may increase it to 2) days a week. Even though I was go to kickboxing 5 days one day I would go twice and 2 days I would take like 1.5 classes. I'm going to try to cut those out because I actually believe it is hindering my weight loss (I believe I'm not eating enough for it to help with my weight loss. I'm crossing my fingers that that starts the scale moving again. I also go to the gym once a week and do the elliptical. So I workout 6 days a week.
-
Good for you! As much as I may complain when I'm sore after a good workout. I like the feeling in a way, because I know it means I pushed hard and made progress. Sometimes after my strength training sessions, I'm not sore the next day and I look back and wonder what I did wrong? But a instructor at my kickboxing place says it means I'm just well hydrated and my muscles are recovering faster.
-
I hear that. I'm losing inches, but the scale is barely moving. I get upset about it, but I know inches still mean fat loss. So I guess it's ok, but it's still frustrating.
-
Exactly! Muscle is just smaller in size than fat, making you look smaller. If you lose a pound of fat, but gain a pound of muscle you will still weigh the same, but you will look smaller. I wish people would stop saying that muscle weighs more than fat, because it is so untrue.

Is Anyone Else This Cold?!?!? Poor Body Temperature Regulation
Jess55 replied to khath0620's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel cold a lot now. Except when I'm sleeping, I've been waking up in the middle of the night sweating and have to turn on the fan, even with my window open when it is like freezing out. Not sure why this is. But I figure I'm cold during the day/evening due to the fact of losing a lot of "insulation". I keep saying this is the only downfall of me losing weight...LOL -
I went from a 46DD (at my highest weight to now, a 36D, I think soon I may need a 34D. I used to want a breast reduction when I was a DD, now since I've gone to a D, I'm ok with the size. Though ever since I can remember my boobs have been totally saggy. I don't remember them ever being normal (I'm sure they were, but I can't remember), so I will definitely want a lift when I hit goal (gotta start saving). Also there is so much skin there, I'm not sure if they will look good without implants. I don't like big boobs though, so I would not get them bigger, possibly smaller even if I do have to get implants.

Post Op 2 Days...bulging Port Site??
Jess55 replied to Ahlamie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd call your doc. Doesn't sound like a crazy emergency, but it could be anything from just swelling, a hematoma (blood clot) or seroma. Or your port came loose. So check with your doc when theory reopen. -
How Long Before Returning To Work
Jess55 replied to ccsbulldog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're feeling good already I would go back. I took one week off and I had a quick recovery, just sore by day 3. Surgery Monday, back to work the following Monday and I have a physical job, bending, lifting, on my feet 10 hours. I'm an LVT and felt I could've gone bak sooner. I know what you mean by going crazy at home. By day 4 I was bored out off my mind. My mom stayed with me a few hours after she brought me home and came for a few hours the next day, but other than that it was just me and my dogs. Luckily 5 days post op was Christmas, so I went to my parents house (only drinking my Protein drinks of course), but at least I had some stimulation...LOL -
Can You Get Approved For Lap Band Surgery If You Have No Health Problems?
Jess55 replied to myownjourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you're insurance has no extra requirements, you should be fine to get approved. I was approved a day after submittance and I had no health problems. I was perfectly healthy, just fat unfortunately. -
Imaginary Lap Band :-)
Jess55 replied to TexasDianne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely try multiple different shakes to find out which one you like. I see to many people on here who did not try the shakes before hand and then saying they are getting nauseous from them. I think you have a good idea, it will give you a head start on the weight loss too! -
Christmas Goody Intervention
Jess55 replied to gotmyeyeontheprize's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been eating like crap for the past 4 days. I missed my workouts the last 2 days, Sunday the gym was closed and could not go due to my work schedule yesterday. But I made it to my kickboxing class today and I plan to go again tonight. I'm back on track today. Someone said why don't I just wait til after new years and I was like I could do way to much damage in that amount of time. I may be bad again on new years but I'm going to stay on track til then. The scale was up today (less than 2 lb) hopefully some of that is just retention from what I've been eating and I don't think I ate 7000 calories over maintenance so hopefully some of it goes away after being back on track the next number of days -
Liquid Diet During The Holidays
Jess55 replied to therealme89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded last year on the 20th, so I was on liquid the week before and 2 weeks after. Luckily on Christmas I got to add full liquids and the Unjury I had tasted wonderful. I did go to my parents house, my parents knew I had surgery obviously (I told my sister that day) so I had asked my mom not to go crazy cooking, I knew she would cook some for my sister, but I managed through. I did not cheat. Just remember it is just another day. Unfortunately the holiday treats at work have been kicking my butt. So I'm just focusing on maintaining right now. -
Crazy Question For Women Bandsters....
Jess55 replied to kcf101008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dd not wear an underwire bra prior to surgery and I don't beleuve it has anything to do with my surgery since my port is much lower. But I've found if I sit a certain way I guess the wire pushes into my skin/fat whatever and can be quite painful if sitting that way for to long. -
Help Stuck In Starvation Mode
Jess55 replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ sanction. Yeah you can lose weight but anorexic also lose a ton of lean body mass as well and that is why they look like skeletons. I know I don't want to not have any muscle (not buff, but have a little definition) so I eat more than the average bandster. I'd rather lose slower and not look awful down the road. -
Lifting More Than 20lbs After Lap Band Surgery?
Jess55 replied to Karrie88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Odds are you'll be ok just be careful you don't want to tug at the incision sites and rip the sutures causing a hernia. I went back to work one week post op and was lifting animals. I think the max I lifted until like 3 weeks post of was 22lb or something. So I did not go crazy and start picking up 70 lb animals right away, but I did pick lighter ones up and had no problem -
1 Year Lap Band Surgery Anniversary And Struggling....
Jess55 replied to janepur's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Odds are you are not eating enough due to your restriction. You'll surprise yourself if you get a little unfill and start eating more and you'll lose. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, that was one of my goals. In fact in a way I have my sister to thank for me having the surgery. She got engaged and said I was going to be a bridesmaid (endued up being mai of honor, but whatever). I was like there is NO WAY IN HELL I will wear a dress looking the way I did. I don't wear dresses to begin with. So I decided then I HAD to do something. So while I did not get down to the weight I wanted by the wedding, I'm still thrilled with the way I looked and I shocked my relatives who did not know I'd been losing weight (hadn't seen some of them in many years). I did not reveal about the surgery, because I really don't spread it around. But I was happy. Actually one of the bridesmaids had Gastric Bypass like 6 months prior and while I hadn't seen her in like 15 years, she looked great too. -
How Many Days Of Work Did You Miss after Lap band Surgery?
Jess55 replied to ready4therealme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on my feet 10 hour shifts, and I took one week. Had surgery Monday, back on Monday. Though Tuesday and Wednesday are my scheduled days off, so I had 2 days off after my one day back. But I felt pretty well. Started getting really bored by day 4. I felt I could've gone back sooner. I even shoveled myself out through a foot of snow to get to work that monday. Though I know if I had called my supervisor she would've been fine with me staying home. I just needed to go back to work, I was SOOO bored. -
Knot In Area Of Lap Band Incision
Jess55 replied to BeautyLarue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Probably just scar tissue forming. When were you banded? -
A fill will not make you lose weight. A fill makes you feel less hungry (if you are) so that YOU eat less. So therefore if you're within your calories and not hungry a fill isn't going to do anything except make it harder for you to eat. You are not going to lose the weight overnight. So don't get discouraged.

Suggestion If You've Never Had Lap Band Surgery Before...
Jess55 replied to TexasDianne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They put a scopolamine patch behind my ear before surgery and I did not feel nauseous once. Not sure why all hospitals don't do this. The only side effect I had from it was my vision was not right, After looking at something for more than a few seconds my eyes could not focus. I was going crazy until I realized it was from the patch a bit after I removed it my vision was fine again. -
If you're not hungry and are losing weight, why do you want a fill? You're not supposed to feel full, you are supposed to feel satisfied. I'm a year out and I had one tiny fill 5 months out, only to realize that it's not for me and I'm fine losing weight without fills. Though my body's being really stupid now, but I know a fill is not going to help with that. You should only get a fill if you're hungry between meals and are not losing weight. In another of your posts I saw you had to set a timer to remember to eat, well not eating at all is not going to make you lose weight.

Jess55 replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
December 12th, the day before I started my pre op diet. November 13th, My sisters wedding.
