Hi There! I actually ended up changing insurance to Blue Cross PPO (this was through my employer). I think a lot of the insurance requirements depend on the surgeon as well. I didn't have to do the 6 month program because my surgeon saw my 14 years of weight watchers books and he said I did it. I ended up switching from lap band to RNY. I had surgery 5 months ago and I have lost 80lbs. It has been the best experience and I am so glad I did this. I just wanted to say best of luck to you and remember this will be a gift you give yourself. Keep the excitement, it will help you stay motivated to exercise and eat right. Take Care!

Hello Everyone, I am desperate for a new Primary Care Physician in the East Bay Area. Specifically in Hayward, Fremont, Newark, Union City, Dublin, Pleasanton, Castro Valley, San Leandro. I would like WLS but my PCP is against it. She says diet/exercise. Easy for her to say she is about a 100lbs! I would like to find a new doctor, someone who is sensitive to weight issues and will hear me out. I have already been approved by a surgeon and my insurance company. Now, I just need to find a new PCP for my after care treatment. Any suggestions? I am not Kaiser so that won't help. I have Anthem Blue Cross PPO. So far all the suggestions I have been given have been for doctors not accepting new patients. Figured I would try here and see what you lovely people could do to help a girl out. Take Care!

Dr. Paul Cirangle - Dr. Cirangle patients?
need2bhealthy replied to camogirl808's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I have Dr. C. I went in for a consultation really wanting to get the Sleeve or band. He told me that the Sleeve would never be approved by insurance and if I wanted Anthem Blue Cross to pay, I needed to do a band or the RNY. I chose the RNY much to my surprise. Dr. C isn't a warm and fuzzy type of guy. He is a skilled laproscopic surgeon who provides the facts, and truly has a passion for what he does. I really liked that about him. I am usually the gal who wants the warm and fuzzies but I really loved Dr. C. My big issue is that my PCP didn't support my decision and I am looking for a new primary doc. I've got my surgeon but I am doc-less...any suggestions? I am in East Bay Area. Good luck! -

Mom of the little "big fat girl" Desperately Needs HELP
need2bhealthy replied to EVERS123P's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
First, let me begin by tellin you that you are not alone. And neither is Kenzie, she sounds like a lovely girl. Truly. Isn't it odd that at 32 years old I feel so many of the same things that you described for her. I don't want to go out, I am uncomfortable in any clothes etc... it is a struggle each and everyday. When I was 16 I contemplated suicide. I struggled with anxiety and depression growing up and I fed my emotions. It has been only the last two years or so where I feel my eating has turned into an addiction (a drug so to speak). I can say that throughout those dark years of teenage I went through I finally was put on medicines at the age of 20. I have been ever since. I have never once since that time thought about taking my own life. I am not sure if it was the medication (evened out my chemical imbalance) or if it was simply growing up and out of high school, but I can say I have not looked back on those dark days as they were back then. Sure, I am still a person who suffers daily with depression, but I can get in touch with how I am feeling and recognize my signs, my triggers etc. I still am fat though! But such is life.... Give your daughter all the love in the world.. because you have proven hands down to us here how much you do care....tell her everyday how beautiful and smart she is. Embrace her soul. I encourage her to go back to Weight Watchers as I think journaling is good with portion control and the points system is easy to understand. New people join everyday so see if possibly there is a meeting with teens in a town close by....may be worth it. Best of luck to you and please keep us posted. BTW, I have seen documentaries on children under 18 having the Gastric Bypass...but 12 is probably still too young. Take Care and I will keep you and your baby in your my thoughts. -
I have been on psych meds for the past 13 years. I am not bi-polar but I have Major Depression, OCD and anxiety disorder. Paxil was the first med I went on when I was 19 years old. I blew up like a blimp and have never been able to get off the weight. However, since I have been taking a cocktail of Wellbutrin XL and Celexa, I am not gaining and have maintained my fat self for two years. I have tried going off medication before (against the wishes of my MD) but I end up having sever axiety and depression. It just doesn't work for me. I wish you all the best of luck and I hope to banded sometime soon!

This is great! I have had all types as ex-boyfriends....but to be honest....at this point I would just like to meet a man who likes me for me. Someone decent enough, clean, smart, and kind. Oh and funny too. Gee, am I asking too much? A man, an honest to goodness man who wants to date me! :peep: -
Hi There! I am 32 years old and have struggled with my weight off and on through childhood and solid for the past 12 years. I struggle with overeating. Often times I feel like a bulimic without throwing up. I do binge. My BMI is 37 and I am not sure if surgery is my best route, and not sure if my insurance will cover it. All I know is that I need to be healthy and I would like something to aid me, something to help me stop eating! :omg: Any suggestions or thoughts are welcome.

Some advice, please?!?!
need2bhealthy replied to Stephanee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow! I can't believe that experience in the plastic surgeons office, what a jerk! I feel for you. Let me know if you hear of anything, I am BMI 37.5 and 32 years old. No other complications. I too have UHC. I would like to get banded and lose weight before the complications start! The older I get the worse it becomes...let me know what you find out and good luck! -
HI THERE! Please let me know what you find out. I have UHC through Sun Microsystems. We are changing to Blue Cross Prudent Buyer very soon but I have been holding off so afraid I can't afford the Lap Band. My BMI is 37.5 and I have no other health issues so that is the grey area. Good luck to you on being a BIG LOSER M
