Just Down About Everything!
pollywogg replied to Tori1983's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Tori. I'm also on day 2 of my pre-op diet. I have to do 3 weeks of very low glycemic vegies and 3 protein shakes a day to a total of 1000 calories, nothing else! I wasn't nervous at all about the band I was losing sleep over this pre-op diet. So far its been okay but I do expect it to get bad. I have some things planned for the bad times like my hobbies, scrapbooking, movies, reading, biking, quading, things to get my mind off food. I'm glad to hear lots of people have heartburn and headaches, good to know I'm normal - lol!!! My hubby was not 100% at first but I showed him lots and lots of success stories and he is now excited for me. If you have 4 kids then you are obviously a strong woman. If you can deal with 4 kids then you can do this! Keep up the good work. Celebrate your successes and do a bit better everyday! -
Your blog has me very excited. I'm getting my band in 3 weeks! I'm interested in your routine as well?

Surgery on July 2nd. Starting Preop diet tomorrow
pollywogg replied to RaSCal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I started the pre-op yesterday. I'm getting banded on July 8th! I was very very nervous about the pre-op but I think I'm going to do just fine. Best of luck to you. Nice you have your wife as a great support! -
I went with the SWLC because of their great out of town pt program. You?

Any July Bandsters??

Dikotomy - I also have vacation issues. I have to be on a pre-op diet for 3 weeks and I have a camping trip, my sons graduation and my husbands high school reunion. Its going to be really hard but really I don't have a choice do I. Generally I think the next 3 weeks are going to suck, cooking for my family and only drinking meditrim and low glycemic vegetables. My husband and best friend will be at my side during these times so I'll have to lean on them. Do you have a good support system? nelliebeans64 - I think we might be going to the same clinic? SWLC? I start the meditrim June 17th and I'm scheduled for July 8th! We are just going to miss each other. Good luck! -
What if this doesn't work either?

I totally agree with ausamerican33 - what a great thread. All the research I have done has not touched his much on the psychological end of things. I am excited and confident on my decision to get the band (July 8th) but a small part of me can't imagine me finally being successfull and reaching my goal weight. It feels like some sort of dream that could never come true. Reading everyones success stories I'm so excited to have some hope that with this tool I can do it. In the past I have shown that I can exercise hard, I actually enjoy it, but as soon as I slacked off at all the weight would jump right back on me :frown: and I would get discouraged and fall back into bad habits. But soon with the band helping that won't happen and there might actually be hope I can make it to my goal - or even close would be just fine. I'm so excited to have real hope for the first time in many many years!!!! My youngest is 13 and I have been trying to lose the weight since then. -
Hi LaShonda, I also gave my decision a year thought and prayer. A friend of mine had it done a few years ago and told me about it last summer. I was very interested in the procedure but scared as well. So I decided to give myself a year to decide and research. Now that I have made up my mind I'm very very excited. I start my pre-op diet in 5 days and my surgery is booked for July 8th. Most people report that they wish they had done this years ago, so for me I want it done as soon as possible. Good luck with your decision!

I also only told my very close friends and my parents. I live in a very small town and if I tell anyone other than that then the entire town will know in a few hours - LOL! Last week I was dreading the pre-op diet but now I'm so excited I just want to get started on my new life. So bring it on! :frown: -

Was your date moved up or pushed back? I'm getting my band on July 8th and I start my pre-op diet on June 17th. I'm quite nervous about that but I'm sure I've made the right decision about getting the band. -
I know what you mean about the complications. I'm in the medical field and I know way to much. When do you leave and come back?
-
That's really too bad you don't have a supportive physician. I told mine today and he was really good. He said I have "given it the college try :)", and I have been successful in the past which shows I have discipline so I'm a great candidate. Whew, glad that went well. He said definitely no motrin or advil but he'll give me some tylenol with codeine incase the headaches get really bad. Things are falling into place and I'm getting really excited. One reason I want to do this now is that I have a really physical job that I want to keep doing for many years to come and I have no major health related problems yet and I don't want them to start. I have never had a depression but my best friend does so I really feel for you. I was so worried to tell her about the band because she is very overweight as well, but it went better than I expected . I'm going to be the guinea pig for us- LOL!

Hi Kidlehopper & JMinDallas, Sounds like we are all feelling the same way. I'm actually not sleeping well just dreading the 3 week post-op diet. I also know I can do it if I set my mind to it but there are sure going to be some rough times in the near future. I'm in Ontario Canada and I'm booked for July 8th. Beside the pre-op diet I'm nothing but excited to get going. I'm not very nervous for the procedure or the decision to do this in the first place anymore. I have 140lbs to lose for my goal weight.

I read your profile last night and was surprised to read that you get headaches when you don't eat enough. So do I! I often wondered if it was just in my head. LOL!! The surgeon wants me off motrin and advil for 2 weeks prior to surgery and I'm worried about that too. I wasn't sick at all with my pregnancies, instead I gained most of my weight when I was pregnant. I was eating for 8 - LOL!! I probably weighted 180-190 when I got pregnant and 300 when I was ready to deliver. I live in a small town in Northern Ontario. The other day I booked a pre-op with my GP for next week, he must be wondering what for and he is squeezing me in today at noon. I'm sure he'll be suportive.
-
I know I was initially scared to do the two weeks I was expecting but now its three! You sure had a rough pregnancy, wow! Good thing its worth it! I have a 15 year old daughter and a 13 year old son. They are currently bickering behind me on the couch - LOL!! I'm having my band done at the SWLC because of their awesome out of town patient accommodations. Who is doing yours?
-
If I lost 140lbs I'd be at my goal weight but part of me can't imagine being there. I haven't been that weight since high school! It would be nice though. I have to do 3 weeks of a protein shake 3 times a day and only low glycemic vegies. I'm worried because during that time I have my sons grade 8 grad, my husbands high school reunion and a camping trip. How long did you do the shakes for when you were pregnant?
-
I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL! I booked my surgery on Monday and its a month away from yesterday. I'm very nervous too. I'm especially nervous of the pre-op diet. I hope I don't get to grumpy. I am also scared of the big life changes and I'm a bit skeptical of the outcome. YIKES!!!

Hi Kurby, This is my first post and I just booked my surgery today for July 8th - YIKES! I am very nervous and I never get nervous! I'm mostly worried about the pre-op diet that I have to start in exactly a week. When do you start yours?
